I have a tough decision.

Swingman

CAGiversary!
I just got my voucher from Best Buy's replacement plan for $190.60

I can use it on anything but it would obviously be for another xbox or towards an xbox 360

Option A
Get another xbox - Cost to me: Free

Option B
Get an Xbox 360 ($299 version) when it comes in stock - Cost to me: $126

Games I have that will work on 360 (according to list): Halo, Halo 2, Jade Empire, NFL Blitz 20-03, Ninja Gaiden, Crimson Skies.

Games I have that won't work on 360: College Hoops 2k6, NCAA Football 06, Burnout 3, Winning Eleven 8

Option C
Wait for xbox 360 to drop in price and pray that doesn't take 3 years lol

So which should I do? If the backwards compability doesn't work very well then I would probably stick with Option A.

You need to get the $399 version if you want to play original Xbox games. Or you could buy the $299 version and the $99 hard drive, but that wouldn't make sense.

Unless you have an extra $200 lying around, go for the original Xbox. You can get a system plus a game with the amount of credit you have. Xbox games are very affordable now and you can get multiple quality Xbox games for the price of a 360 game. I'd personally get the 360 if cash isn't an issue though.

Wait what? You need to buy the Premium bundle to play BC games?

Yeah, if you're going to nuy a 360, the only option to pick up is the Premium ($399). I doubt there will be a price drop for a couple of years. But there are still a lot of great Xbox games out there and the prices are going to keep dropping so that may be an option with all of the credit you have.

..I thought everyone knew this by now. You need the hard drive to play BC games.

i have a question...are newer games that are coming out for the 360 going to be compatible with the 360? like say if i have burnout: revenge, even since it's coming out for the 360 will they make it bc? i'm guessing not..

I don't understand your question. If it's made for the 360 then it works on the 360 obviously (or should).

If you're referring to games that have an xbox and xbox 360 version then I doubt the xbox version works on the 360. While the xbox version of the game probably doesn't look nearly as good, they wouldn't want people to buy that rather than the $60 ripoff for the 360 version.

As to my decision, I decided to pick up a regular xbox with Forza Motorsport. Suprisingly enough I actually enjoy the game. Although it's tough not to use my Burnout tendencies and try to crash the competition. Got a few to spin out without hurting my car though :)
