Finally got my Ninja Gaiden from EBGames and I shoulda listened to the reviews.. its impossible. I've spend 2 hours alone on level one. I'm trying to beat it without using the elixers because I know if I use them now I'll never have a chance at the later levels. This is the hardest game I've ever played, its not even fun anymore its so hard.

The sad thing is, when I saw the subject line, I knew what game you were writing about. The sadder thing is that I won't have my copy until next week, probably. Look on the bright side, you've made more progress with it than I have.

LOL.. I did acutally finally beat the first level without any elixers or my Talesman of Rebirth (that should come in handy later). The game is awesome but its just not that fun when its THAT hard. I can see making a game difficult but this is redicilous. I hope I can atleast somehow unclock the classic games, I hope they didn't make that task impossible. That was a big reason why I wanted the game.

I preordered mine and should be getting it soon...I get frustrated easily....this thread is making me worried :?

Yeah I will admit I get frusterated easily.. I never had any trouble with Onimusha 2 (its kinda like this game) but this game is just insanely hard. I thought it was just because I sucked at these types of games but apparently many people have been having trouble with the game.

**SPOILER**

I read somewhere that to unlock Ninja Gaiden 2 you have to beat every level on Normal mode with the best karma (rating you get after the levels). If this is the case I don't think I will be unlocking any of the classic NG's :(:(

For anyone that is too frustrated with this game, I'd be willing to take it off your hands for you, and I can give you a nice frustrating-free copy of Sesame Street 1-2-3 for NES. YOU CAN UNLOCK GROVER COUNTING!

Ditto. The only thing Im frusetrated with is Im to stupid to spend 5-6 bucks to have gotten it this week.

I honestly don't think the game is as difficult as you guys make it out to be. I just picked up my copy today, and have been playing for a good 4 hours now. I just defeated that big guy on top of the airship and am now headed for the city. I've only died once. You just have to keep moving (thats the most imporatnt tip), block frequently, and make sure your slashes count. Thus far I've gotten the rank of Head Ninja on the first two levels, and Master Ninja on the airship.

Just keep at it. The game is indeed difficult, but not impossible.

Oh I'm in no way saying I want to get rid of this game nor am I saying it sucks. It is just very difficult. If I can stick with it I think I will get quite a few hours of entertainment out of the game :p

Patience, glasshoppah. Just think, that's one more copy of Haven we can each afford.

Alright, UPDATE!!

*SPOILERS*

I have been playing for a while and I did get the hang of it more. Like someone said you can buy as many potions as you need so I have just been using those which made the game much more enjoyable. I had much more trouble with the Level 1 boss than the Level 2 and 3. The ship level was definatly an awesome and fun level, it reminded me of MGS2 for some reason. I just went ahead and quit once I beat Level 3 or else I might be up all night if Level 4 is tough :p. Atleast now I am enjoying the game :)

I think that whenever people write spoilers they should put it in black font like this. So you have to highlight it to actually read it. Just an idea

That worked brilliantly. And by brilliantly I mean "not at all."

Man if you think this game is hard now, wait til you get to chapter 10. I love this game though and I too have to stop every once in a while or I would playing this game for hours and hours. The block and evade key is a must for survival and I tend to run up the walls and slash everyone on the way down seems to quickly kill people.

I got frustrated when I just got Rainbow 6 3 a couple of weeks ago. EVeryone was already too good at that game and I would constantly die and rarely get kills. I got used to the game now but damn was that frustrating

LMAO I knew what game was being discussed before I even clicked on the topic.

Level 2 boss is whupping me hard right now.

On the somewhat bright side, you'll know that whoever wins that Master Ninja tournament on Xbox Live has some serious godlike skills.

You know what else frustrated me today? Pac Man World 2. Blind jump after blind jump after blind jump. The camera keeps that from being as fun as I want it to be.

Whats that go to do with Gaiden? Well its frustrating, and some people complain about gaiden's camera but other than that not a whole lot.I just needed to get it lff my chest.

yeah, I also knew what game people would be talking about. Everyone knew that that new NG game would be as hard as the old ones and I expected tons of people to buy it then complain that it was too hard. If you think the first few levels are hard imagine how good your going to have to be to win the contests they are having on xbox live.

What's so wrong with a difficult game?
It just takes trail and error to finish them, and if you'd rather have an easy game that you can simply play straight through, then why did you buy Ninja Gaiden (said to be hard in every review and interview I've seen) in the first place?

how does the difficulty compare to Otogi? Because that game fustrates the hell out of me and if NG is worse than that then I'll wait on buying it.

It's now official. This game is owning me. Maybe I'm not giving it enough serious play time. Maybe I'm trying to do too many cool moves as opposed to attacks and strategies that will actually work (no matter how dull or repetitive that might get). I'm on level 3 and some of the regular goons are as tough as some bosses in other games. Plus I tried to play through the first level again...I can get to the boss, then I get schooled HARD.

Still enjoy it though. Just wish I could cover up all these welts!
Never play Stuntman if easily frustrated.
Quite easily the most frustrating game I played and finished before I picked up NG.

The more you play the better you get. Although, I did not have any trouble with the 1st boss. I just used a bunch of wall attack and varied my attacking stlyle as needed. Unlocking NG 2+3 may pose to be impossible for most people however. Getting master ninja on every lvl on hard and very hard difficulty is something that I laugh at.
This game sounds like a Shinobi experience.
No, I wouldn't say that. In Shinobi, Hosuma fell down a bottomless pit every 5 seconds mainly because the camera got wonky, or you pressed the wrong button, or he locked on to the wrong bad guy, etc.

NG is different because its a matter of skill. Personally, I like a challenge in my games. But I have yet to get frustrated with this one. Believe me, I've played games that are MUCH harder than this.

this thread has convinced me to take a break from steel battalion for a bit, and go get gaiden today.

i think games have gotten too easy of late.. prince of persia and beyond good and evil are two great examples. both great games in most respects.. but both so easy that they come off as fluff.

i finally beat the game it's really worth your money so i'd definately pick it up and i dunno about waiting for deals this seems like one of those games that's gonna be stuck at a high price for a while, but who knows

Don't know why you would want to save your potions... you can only carry 10 max. This game is definitely not button smasher friendly to let u all know. Its difficult, but not to the point where u guys are way over exagerating. Especally if you read the GameFAQs boards. I'm on chapter 8, and the one move that has help me a lot is the running jump flying attack, and X X Y X i think is the sequence that slices their head off in that combo. Just wait till you get to chapter 7 where u fight the zombies on the stairs, that’s been giving people hell along with the bubble fishes later.

So.

How long until there are cheap used copies floating around? I don't think I would be willing to spend any more than 20 dollars for this game, especially after my painful experiences with Enclave and Otogi.

Give it a few weeks, maybe two months or so...I'm almost positive that someone on CAG will have found a deal for it by then. :D

At the very least, it will be up for grabs in that godforsaken resource hog that is the Trading Post forum... :?

From what I've read, a lot of people are considering taking this game back due to it's difficulty.

Update: I've managed to get to the end of chapter 7. It starts to flow once you get into it, and once you've gotten some upgrades.

I finished it tonight after a couple days off. Definitely be prepared to die a lot, but it's really nothing that can't be overcome with excessive item use and some skill. Some early bosses are definitely much tougher than later bosses, so don't let the second chapter shake you. This game is unbelievable and I am thankful for a challenging game for once after Prince of Persia, Wind Waker and Devil May Cry 2. Keep with it and don't trade it in.

I finished it Friday night and despite the difficulty I loved every bit of it. It can be hard, in fact I'd say its the toughest game on the xbox (chapter 15 brought new meaning to kicking my ass). Don't let that all sway you away from an awesome game experience. And personally I look foward to any of the Live tournaments.... I think they'll be tons of fun.

I've only had about an hour or so to play it since I got it but I gotta say I love it. I don't know why people keep saying the first boss is hard though. He was a piece of cake. I had a lot more trouble with the roomful of white ninjas that directly preceded him. The game is wicked hard though. I've been using my potions a decent bit but have held onto the first big potion and that revival scroll. I am stuck in Chapter 2 currently trying to deal with the cavalry. I just can't get enough slashes in without getting trampled because of the wild camera. In closer spaces the camera is near perfect but in a wide area like that with enemies moving around the whole place I have too much trouble finding them before I got ran over. Best I've done so far is taking thee of them down. I hope the bosses get harder and the grunts get easier because the current grunts are much harder for me than that first boss was.

This game isn't that difficult at all.

I'm playing on Very Hard at the moment, on Chapter 6, and have been getting Master Ninja ranking on all so far.

:^o

I don't know if the demo is anything like the full game, but that nunchaku guy at the end of the first stage raped me heartily and without mercy. I only discovered to roll away from his attacks but by that time I didn't have any elixirs left and a millimeter of health.

I tried the boss at the end of Chapter 7 last night. Even though I had two or three of those things that extend your health bar, I still died in 3 hits. It was as if the game ramped up in difficulty in five seconds.

Im at chappter 7 or 8 and cant get anymore potions so I only have one super elixer and i cant get more, before i fight that pink boss. I think im just screwed, any recomndations for strategies?

I just beat Chapter 3 (got the game yesterday) and it seems like it's actually getting easier. That 2nd boss wrecked my shit like 6 times, but I beat the 3rd one first try... heh. Anyway, this is a fantastic game. I love it.
