So I traded in a ton of crap games to EB over the course of the last few weeks...6 to be exact, which gave me a total of 37.25 store credit because of their trade any THREE games in and get 10 dollars store credit. So with this 37 bucks, I bought Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and only had to pay 16.xx...

Anyways, theres a 20 dollar rebate for Paper mario, so in a way I'm making money. Now if I was to write off every game I traded in as one i would never play again, then trading them in only makes money for me (meaning I forget how much I paid when I bought them)...

The Games I traded:
-Brute Force
-Star Wars: Rogue Leader (really torn on this one, but I finished the game and upon replay it wasn't as fun as the first time)
-Super Monkey Ball 2 (another tough choice, but my roommate hates it and my brother and I only liked the Monkey Target Mini-game...I hate the actual story mode and got it for 15 bucks, so who cares)
-Madden 2002 (bought from gamestop for 2 bucks to get me 8 bucks profit)
-Crimson Skies (got 2 xbox live packages from SBC and 2 copies of Crimson Skies...kept the unopened one for myself and traded this one in)
-Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (bought it for 14 bucks, started it about 3 times [once on PC] and recently my Xbox died so I would have had to restart the game and play through the boring intro for the billionth time, so I was done with it...got me 6 bucks too)

So anyways, they totalled up to 37.25.

Now I want your opinions...should I keep, open, and play paper mario and get the 20 dollar rebate (now that I have the receipt and its dated before 1/30, I can wait until 2/15 to make my mind up on the rebate)...or should I spend the 37.25 store credit on something better...a lot of people don't think this game will drop in price more than 10 bucks in the next year, but there were a ton of copies on EBs shelf and I just don't know. I love what I've read about this game but I want honest opinions from people who've played the game and are more intelligent than game reviewers.

Also, should I have kept Monkey Ball 2 instead of Crimson Skies? I'm torn on that decision.

Please, I trust you guys. Give me some advice. Thanks. (Mini-reviews of Paper Mario would be most appreciated)

Paper Mario TTYD is a great game, a little easy, but comical and fun at the same time. I also doubt it will drop in price to anything less than $40 this year, I mean look at MP 5 which is still $50 even though MP 6 is out. If you want the game now is as good a time as any to get it.

Also Crimson Skies is way better than Monkey Ball, that of course is just IMHO.
The only one i'd regret is Super Monkey Ball 2, but even then, don't regret it, because it's coming for XBox!

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/244713.asp

Includes all the party games from 1 and 2!

I'd play Paper Mario.. or maybe put the store credit towards the new Zelda..
But is Paper Mario worth keeping? I want a long, entertaining game.

I've heard a lot of it's reading text. After looking at the games you traded in, Paper Mario seems a bit too.. RPG-ish. Resident Evil 4 is a BLAST to play, but it's only around 20 hours long (the first time).. yeah, I think i'd probably go with the new Zelda that's coming out in a few months.

FYI, it's already $36.99 used with free shipping on Gamefly.com (Paper Mario)

I don't know about those trades. I would have kept everything but the old Madden game. I'm about 25+ hours into KOTOR now, and it really is an excellent game. I played all the way through and enjoyed Brute Force as well. I haven't tried Crimson Skies, but Rogue Leader and Monkey Ball 2 have gotten great reviews.

Paper Mario is definitely worth keeping. It is one of my favorite games for GCN. It's one of those rare (almost) RPGs where you can just pick it up and play at any time. It is a ton of fun. I( personally would have kept Monkey Ball but that is just me. Paper Mario is a fairly long game but you will surely be entertained by its humor and wackiness.

Well, Rogue Leader I finished twice. I can't get much more out of it...regardless of how much I paid for it upon launch, I knew I'd never play it again. Brute Force I finished with my roommate. I got it for free with my xbox. God we hated the game but we finished it coop anyways. Monkey Ball...sigh...I bought it to play the mini-games with my bro, but to us the only fun one was monkey target (and possibly Monkey Fight)...and I hated the single player mode (very frustrating for me...and I'm actually very coordinated when it comes to games). Crimson Skies...meh...I got another copy. And about KOTOR...look, the games great, but a lot of the dialogue you just can't skip, and you really have no idea how many times I've started that game only to have to restart it from the beginning...I was just done with it. Just too long an intro to redo.

The only game I really regret is Rogue Leader, but I played it again a month or two ago and it just didnt do it for me. The Death Star level I had remembered as being memorable...but it just wasn't...and I also remember getting REALLY frustrated during the last few levels.

I'm not that upset about any of the trades, although I was seriously considering trading Viewtiful Joe instead of Monkey Ball, just because I bought Monkey Ball so recently. But common sense prevailed, because I really just don't like Monkey Ball (it ain't for everybody)
you wouldn't be able to get the rebate anyhow because you can't combine it with any other deals, including the trade-in one
I'll just send them the gift receipt I had the guy print out. I called and asked and the customer support rep talked to the rebate dept. and they said they wouldnt hold the 10 dollar promotion against me for the rebate, so I'm good to go.
paper mario is funny as hell pick it up a bit easy thought for an rpg.
A bit easy or REALLY easy? I don't like REALLY easy games...although if its still lasts 40 hours as easy as it is...that pretty good.

Super Monkey Ball 2 is great - I'd never trade it but to each his own I guess. Why isn't Super Monkey Ball Deluxe coming out for GCN? I think it is going to suck on Xbox and PS2 because their analog sticks aren't as precise...

I don't know the value of the GC games very well, but you could have sold KOTOR and Crimson Skies for over $20 (probably over $25) on eBay pretty easily. Brute Force doesn't have a ton of value, but you still probably could have picked up at least $5.

EB's trade in values must really suck. You're saying that trading in those 6 games only gave you $7.25 in trade in value + the $30 bonus? $7.25 base value for those games is ridiculous.
Wait, wait, wait.

I want to know how you were able to trade in Madden '02!!!!
The plus 10 dollars is ANY game...if your store tells you otherwise they're wrong.

And its 17.25 for the games...6 for Crimson, 6 for KOTOR, 3 for Monkey Ball 2, and crap for the rest...I don't care...I got Crimson for free, so thats fine, I got both Monkey call and KOTOR for 14, so I don't feel like I was screwed...

Its all about being able to get the extra 10 for games ill never play again...i didnt want to go to the trouble of auctioning on ebay or trading them on CAG...just my preference. Any why wouldn't we include the 20 dollars bonus when breaking down the game values? 37.25/5 = 7.45 a game...which is a fine average...I don't count Madden 2002 because I bought it for 2 bucks to get the deal...its worth nothing to me (and nothing to EB)
Alright I think I'm going to open up Paper Mario and start playing. Thanks to those who gave advice.
Good decision, as someone said it's a cool RPG you can just pick up and play whenever you get a few minutes. It's not that it's super easy, although it's not hard, it's just that there are a lot of save points so if you ever do die you don't have to go back too far. Plus you don't have to worry about not being able to find a save point when you have to leave, because it's usually only about ten minutes between them.

Yea...I had played it a bit in EB and I must admit I absolutely love the artistic style of the game...the presentation is superb, and it really does seem to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling...I just wanted to make sure I didnt want anything else...which I didn't. Time to get addicted and stay up late.
