the field is kind of flooded right now, to be honest with you. i'm an administrator and most of the associate degree type positions, with the exception of nursing assistants / patient care techs, are mostly filled. a few years ago (2 or 3) radiology techs of all types were in such high demand they were offering $30k-$60 bonuses for signing a 1 to 3 year employment contract. For the amount of schooling you go to, the best paying job with the most time off is nursing.
Well, both PVH and Medical Center of the Rockies (which opens in 2008) are both scrambling for techs (which I'mma try and become) as well as private institutions. But I'm not really interested in nursing, as much of a med geek as I am. (Besides, having had a mother who's worked as one for 30 years, it's not too appealing.) I'd prefer to specialise in a rather.. technical job like Radiology. Eventually I might spring for a doctorate and become a Radiologist, I dunno.
Flouroscopy looks appealing to me..
