I Need a A/V Switch for multiple Game systems, help!

ParadoxSeven

CAGiversary!
I need a video switch for Component (HD) connections with optical audio. Atleast 4 of them, and with a remote. even if the remote isn't good, it can always be programmed into a universal. Does anybody have an idea of which is the best out there.

What are you all currently using??

4 systems, and not that many connections on my tv. :bouncy:

Best Buy has Psyclone brand component switches and HDMI switches...they're pricey but work great. I'm using the HDMI switch now...it has four inputs all with optical ports too, a remote, and is programable with my logitech remote control. Also if you are planning on getting a surround sound system, the receiver should have multiple inputs which makes it work as a switch.

Thanks for the info guys, the Psyclone one looks great, I found the one they make for component, and it looks really good, even has ethernet. But I can't find a place to buy the unit besides resorting to ebay or some very unknown seller. Anybody have any ideas? Has anybody used the component psyclone? Where can i find it for sale.

This is there website for it,

I've also ran into others that might work,

Intec G5239 Universal HDMI Component Digital AV Selector
Joytech 540C
Joytech AV Control Center 245C
PELICAN Universal System Selector Pro 2.0

Again the main problem with any of these is that they seem to have stopped making these devices, I can't find any of them from any reliable places.

Does anybody have any of those and can say if they work great or not. Also the ethernet on these units, does anybody know if they act as a ethernet hub or if they are switched based, turning off the other ones and only turning on the one you have selected?

Thanks again for all the info :D

Cool beans, I was going to ask about this -- I just got a Surround Sound system with built in DVD player and it has an HDMI connection...but so do my Xbox 360 and PS3, and I only have two HDMI ports on the TV and one optical input on the surround sound system.

Would this switch be a viable alternative -- eg, running the consoles through it along with optical audio, then running the audio from that into the surround sound setup?

And does anyone know where to get this at the best price?

Thanks!

I have a mint in-box black version of the "PELICAN Universal System Selector Pro 2.0" it always worked great for me I only used it for like a month. It you want it make me a honest offer for it via Paypal and I could have it shipped out by the end of the week.

Thanks again for all the info :D
I've had the component Psyclone unit for two years now, and it's worked like a champ with everything I've had hooked to it at one point or another. I've had my PS2, PS3, GC, Wii, 360, OG Xbox all hooked to it in one way or another and have never seen any issues with video or audio.

From what I remember, the Ethernet ports are hub-based, so I'd suggest not using them and just using a hub. I've personally never used them, though from what I've seen in a review or two, it's hub-based.

BB used to have it a while ago, though I've not seen any recently.

Thanks!
Yes, that would work. There's a number of HDMI switchers out there, though price != quality. Unless you're not getting 5.1 audio passed over HDMI, you shouldn't need optical audio connections on the switchbox.
