I need a new RPG

CAGiversary!
I just finshed Xenosaga and am looking for a new RPG game to play for PS2. Any suggestions? Plz no FF games i'v played them all...but x-2. Thanks for your input. :D

Wild Arms 3, Kingdom Hearts is a must for any PS2 gamer, Star Ocean just came out and I've rented it, and have enjoyed it so far. Do you primarily wish for PS2 RPGs or can it be PS1 RPGs as well?

hahahahhah good one always ready to make a buck.........j/k, I kid kid, but seriously that isnt' that bad of a Ps2 RPG, not the best, but pretty good. Are you into tactical RPGs? If so try Disgaea (sp), La Pucelle Tactics, or Front Mission 4 or all good.

Try FFX-2. It's one of the better RPGs I've played in a while. I'm in the middle of Kingdom Hearts right now, and it's also an amazing game.

But Hiccup- Star Ocean is out? I thought it comes out on August 31st.

Legaia 2 was very good; I don't invest 60 hours into a game unless it really hooks me. Only both FFs, Suikoden III, and Xenosaga are better, IMO. You may also want to look into Wild Arms 3, Kingdom Hearts, Shadow Hearts, the .hack trilogy, or the strategy/RPG's that have already been mentioned: Disgaea: HoD, La Pucelle Tactics, and Front Mission 4. Others in that category- Dynasty Tactics, Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII, VIII, and Ring of Red (if you can find it).

Personally, I'd recommend FF X-2, Suikoden III, Disgaea, Kingdom Hearts, Legaia 2, and Wild Arms 3. I loved FF X-2, myself. :)

Regular Japanese style RPGS.. Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean 3, Wild Arms 3, Shadow Hearts, Legaia 2, Unilimited Saga (hard to get into and gets bad reviews, but I loved it)

Wild Arms 3 and Legaia 2 you can find cheap (I got Wild Arms for like $8 at outpost.com and Legaia for $7 at TRU.)

I've really enjoyed FFX-2, yes, it's a little cheesy, but sometimes it's nice to play a character on whom the FATE OF THE UNIVERSE!!! doesn't depend. And I love the job system.
I'm liking La Pucelle a lot more than Disgaea, although it's more strat-rpg.
Got Wild Arms 3, but haven't started it yet, and also just got Front Mission 4 yesterday, haven't started that one yet either [I'm trying to finish FFX2 before starting another RPG, since I'm technically playing that, La Pucelle, and Arc the Lad, although Arc the Lad isn't that great, and it's on the back burner.]
Dynasty Tactics is another excellent strategy/rpg, but it's definitely more chess-like, in that you benefit greatly from planning your moves out way in advance.

I recommend Legaia 2 (this game rocks) and Shadow Hearts (not bad). Shadow Hearts Covenant and Star Ocean Til The End of Time is coming out soon in September and August respectively and they are suppose to be good. Also heard Suikoden 3 and 4 are good.

Is Arc the Lad Twilight for PS2 that bad? What kind of game is it? It looks like strategy RPG to me. Does it play like the Arc the Lad 1-3 from PS1?
has Suikoden III's greatness been lost threw the years?
i was thinking the same thing

The Summoner games and Arc the Lad are the only RPG's for PS2 that I've liked. Dark Cloud 2 was alright, but the kid has an incredibly annoying voice and the stories bland and boring.

You obviously have a computer, so I would suggest getting yourself a copy of Morrowind Game of the Year if you havn't played it yet. That game made every other RPG seem as bad as an EA game to me.

Check out Okage for ps2. The gameplay leaves something to be desired, but I found the plot and characters to be top notch. It reminds me a lot of Earthbound, same type of quirky humor.

Yaeh, my mistake. I should have put that I have played an import copy of it and can tell you that it is amazing. I'm definently getting it when it comes to the states, you know, it's kind of hard reading japanese if you don't speak it.

Another RPG that I have been enjoying so far is Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, which has a little bit of a learning curve, but the game gets fun quick.

I really like the dark cloud series, although i still haven't finished them. Combat's boring as hell and at the end you can't make cities (best part of the game)
I'd also recommend Kingdom Hearts, and I've played a demo of Arc the Lad which was surprisingly good.
