Every place I go the cheapest I see them is $40 or so. While Dvd players can be find for around $20.

It means Very Crappy Recordings.
Its a tool before the digital age used by primitive human cultures to record little league games and brises.
Whatever you get, just make sure you know how to set the clock. Nothing makes you look dumber than not being able to program a VCR.

It does the job. It's cheap and has Hi-Fi. It had to be new because VCRs have too many moving parts which can wear out quickly, so I would never trust a used or refurbed one.

Tomorrow Im gonna spend some decent time looking into it.
I live in the country and the land lord wont let us attatch a satellite to the house for dish and all that so I get my sister to use her spare tv and vcr to record shows I cant see. My vcr went out after 5 good years of service.

My parents are in the same boat, as their VCRs just died on them. I'm going to take a look at Best Buy, and I'll report if it's better than the above stated VCRs.
