I need a non-p2p sharing website

So what's "sharing" about it then?

You're basically asking for sites where material is avaiable for download.

Um... all of them?

You'll need to be a little more specific.

Pretty much. I don't want a site like Kazaa or WinMX or anything. Something like mp3album.ru
You're in the wrong place if you're looking for frree copyrighted material. We find it cheap but we don't steal it.
I doesn't have to be free. Did you look at the link I put up.

go to www.mp3album.ru and you will see what I am talking about.
Why don't you just tell me what you're talking about?
The site that I usually go to is the link that I have up there. All I do is give them twenty dollars of my card, and I pay 10 cent/song. It's perfectly legal. I'm looking for a similar site.

Get real. The definition of stealing that revolves around removing a collection of atoms from another's possession is quite out of date. If you knowingly obtain for free something that is only suppoed to be available after a monetary exchange you are conducting a form of theft. Those of us who produce information for commercial sale can be a bit touchy on this this. If I write something for commercial publication I expect to get paid. If others violate the rules of access for that publication it is unlikely they will remain in business and able to pay me in the future.

Yeah, the .RU domain is always the mark of legitimacy.

Have you really never heard of iTunes or seen the recent PR campaign from the new Napster? Don't you think it's a little odd those folks are charging a small fraction of what Apple charges, even though Apple has admitted they don't make a worthwhile profit from music sales and do it to promote the iPOD?

Going on a site like this and asking for a download site without specifying commercial legitimacy rather than warez is going to raise suspicion of your motives. What else did you expect?

I appreciate the lesson that you're giving and what not. Seriously. But to be perfectly honest, I'm not interested. I just wanted to know if anyone knew a similar site. Sorry.

Let the flame wars begin.

Check out Singingfish. It has what I'm looking for some of the time. Sites like these are quite difficult to find these days, though, so I usually use P2P programs.

Ah....

The once a month spectacle of defining piracy and theft. Life would be incomplete without it.

People have listed several "legit" sites but OP has yet to give a clear definition of what they are looking for.

Actually I have.

Apple's iTunes seems to ring a bell. Several others including wal*mart and buy.com also sell digital music.

Of course, I refuse to give the RIAA any of my money, so I just don't listen to music by any RIAA-signed artists.

It's American music on the site. They have rap music and r&b, and etc. I'm just looking for some other music that I can't find on my site.

If anything the idea of intellectual property is (very slowly) going out of fashion.

The practices of hoarding intellectual property or selling it to the highest bidder, will never survive the next information revolution. Intellectual property, like information, is viral. It wants and demands to be spread in the fastest, most efficient way possible. The great ideas and culture of our times are not going to sit in bunch of security encrypted data files because a bunch of suits in DC and a bunch of fat cats in hollywood/silicon valley really like it that way.

Every time I see the commercial that says "Go buy Alladin, before it goes back in the Disney Vault", I think about how much those jack-holes have ripped off prior works of art without contributing anything to the public domain themselves. Their house of cards will soon fall, I can't wait till Mickey Mouse goes up in the public domain. There's alot of animosity out there, it's not gonna be pretty for the rat.

ive heard good things about allofmp3.com, its a little shady but they're based in russia and follow russian copyright law or something. they're legit in the sense that they wont rip YOU off, but I'm pretty sure the artists arent getting any money from them, neither are the various companies that make up the RIAA.
