hi by wow i mean world of warcraft. i really like to play it but my 6 year old computer is dying very fast. i have put one computer together that worked good (about 5 years ago) but it was damaged in moving. any help would be greatly appriciated.

What parts of your old computer can you salvage? If you can use the same dvd drive, case, or hardrive you could save some cash. Save another 100 or so and I can pick you out some good parts.

other then the dvd drive and hard drive (which should be delt with but can wait) i need the whole shabang including the OS

where should i look for that laptop and what kinda specs should it have, a laptop would be pretty neat i have always wanted one . and are used computers safe to buy, im always scared to buy stuuf like that used cause im not sure what im getting into

Just a head's up. You can run WoW on linux using Wine, so if you want to save some cash you could do that. Also, you could try and get the license from your old PC, technically you still own it so you should call up MS.

I got mine from Bestbuy for $400, has 180GB HD, 2 GB ram, 1.89 DUAL Core and it runs all my games great, but WoW doesent really require much in the first place

WOW can run on anything even an 192mb pIII 700mhz laptop. anything with more than 256 and supports opengl is fine just as long as your on low settings

Well a decent CPU with a Mobo and RAM will set you back at minimum(for something decent) $200 - $300. For a video card that is another $100 or so. You mentioned needing things like a case and OS. So nope. If you can salvage the case and find an OS. You can make something really nice for around $500 or even $450.

It can be done. My recommendations:

-CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ $77.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103210

-Motherboard: Biostar MicroATX 49.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138111

-RAM: Super Talent 2x1GB DDR2-800 $40.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609027

-Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 8800GS $99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130332

-Case: Winsis WN-19 (currently own one) 36.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811234016

-Hard Drive: Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM 41.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075

-DVD Drive: Lite-On DVD Burner $22.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106226

The total without shipping is 369.94. It would run games like WoW flawlessly.

Certainly not in a playable fashion. WoW does have low requirements, but it still needs more than crappy integrated video. It will play, just barely acceptably, with an integrated Intel 965. Nothing less will even be playable.

He needs an operating system.

OP, go Dell or something like that. Cheap prebuilt. In your budget it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to build. Keep an eye on http://slickdeals.net/ for a few days and wait for a desktop to be posted. Just add a videocard if whatever you get is insufficient. For example, here's an HP they posted, which isn't as good of a deal as they usually have: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=896964

# Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 1.8 Ghz processor
# Vista Home Premium
# 1GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 Desktop Memory
# 320GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

For $250. If you turn off Aero and add a ~$70 videocard it'll run stuff like WoW very well, I have a similar machine (with a slower processor) that I used to play WoW on. As an extra benefit you could sell your current comp (however cheap, even like $50) to subsidize the price of this new one -- something you couldn't easily do if you used parts out of it to build a new one.

What Koggit said is your best bet. I'd still recommend uploading to 2GB of RAM. Any videocard within the $50-100 range will run WoW.
