I need help from hardcore MGS 4 players

I recently started Guns of the Patriots again on Big Boss Extreme and I am having a bit of a problem. I am totally out of anesthetic ammo. I've tried to hold up grunts to see if they drop anything worth while but the stick up does not work. Is it me or is it just not possible to stick people up when you play in the harder difficulties? i hope you can help.
 
you can use CQC and knock them out. Once you pick them up and set them back down you can shake loose items that way. Try that. It has been awhile since I played MGS4 myself...
 
I tried playing it on Big Boss Extreme as well a couple of months ago. I got to the part where you and Meryl's gang (Rat Patrol, IIRC) take on those shrieking soldiers and could not pass that part.

Good luck to you. Probably won't be able to stick people up but like Gillian said, just keep picking them up and dropping them, you can still get items that way.
 
Thanks for the help. Ill keep trying to shake items loose but it doesnt seem to be working. I actually just got past the frog section, without killing any of them. :lol:

How? I thought if you don't help out they eventually end up killing one of the guys and ends your game.

and I know I could check a walkthrough but I've passed all MGS games except for 4 on extreme and it's fun doing it on your own and more fulfilling, for the most part.
 
It was really hard but the thermal on the solid eye helped a lot. I mostly just stayed prone and took head shots withe the tranq gun. Smoke and stun grenades helped a bunch too. It was very fulfilling when I reached the end.
 
I just read that you have to stick up the grunts, circle around, get close and then LET GO of L1 to be able to press triangle to start the pat down. I dont know if this is right. I havent played in a long while so it might be possible that I forgot that important part. I hope not though, Im going to feel like such a noob if that was all that was holding me back. I cant check right now though, my g/f is playing modern warfare 2.
 
Last update. You do have to let go of L1 to get the prompt to search the enemy soldiers. The breifings dont really explain that important part though. Oh well I still feel like a mouth breather for not remebering that little detail. :drool:
