I went ahead and bought a 51inch hitachi from bestbuy at 699 as advertised. A The same day the tv gets delivered I receive a coupon in the mail for 10% off (bday coupon) towards anything like tvs 399 and up. My tv was 699 so I called 1800bestbuy and they tell me to go in the store and have them refund/rebuy with coupon.

I show up to best buy and go to the magnolia station and my receipt reads as

549.99 for tv -150$ for magnolia in home delivery, which is just 2 guys who come and roll in your tv and scan the cale channels, so a total of 748 with tax.

The guy tells me that I cannot use my coupon because the tv is on sale and that the coupon can only be used off the REGULAR sale price of 899 so I'd end up losing money. I quickly pointed out the tv was showing at 699 so I should be able to use it but he still said no. Am I wrong here? shouldn't I be able to have the price adjusted and that regular sale price was bullshit? Why advertise something and issue coupons if you can't ever use it on an item in the flier? wtf?

Maybe its me.. Advise..

Check the coupon, sometimes it says it cannot be used on sale or clearance items. that 699 TV was on clearance if i remember, so that guy was probally right.

coupon cant be combine with sale prices and even if they ALLOWED you to do it they would probally make you return the TV and then REbuy it not just bring in the recept.

Also im pretty sure the coupon sales excludes pre. purchase so they wouldnt have to honor the coupon anyways

This is true. When I bought my westinghouse 47", I waned to use the coupon plus the sale but it was a no go. Circuit city, though, does let you stack SALE prices with their coupons generally. The coupons from circuit city, though, do not work on clearanced items.

damn woulda have been nice to save 70 bucks. The tv isn't on clearance thou is it? just as advertised.

Oh well, kinda ironic cause bestbuy tvs are usually overpriced by more then 10%.
