I just bought a 32'' Samsung LCD TV and it is way too small for my current setup. I spent almost $700 on it after tax and I've decided to take it back to the store and upgrade to something larger.

I'm looking for a 1080p TV that is at least 42'' and under $1700. I'd like to get a TV around 46''. I'd like to stay around the $1200-1700 range.

I had my mind set on a LCD TV, but I've looked around at some websites and now I'm not sure if I should get a LCD or Plasma. I guess either one is fine. I just want a good TV that should last me a long time.

I would be using my Xbox 360 and PS3 to play games and also the PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies. I also have Directv, but I haven't upgraded to an HD receiver yet. TV speaker volume isn't an issue with me, I have surround sound but it is only 5.1.

I'd like to get a Samsung, but I don't have my heart set on one. Like I said above I'm mainly looking for a good TV that will last me a long time and also not break the bank.

I'm leaning towards getting this TV, but I'd like to get some more suggestions and opinions.

I bought a 50 inch samsung plasma and regret it, my advice, stick with LCD. Although screen burn isn't as bad of a problem now, and my model has settings to prevent it. I still managed to get 2 thin line burns from SD tv viewing. Not a huge issue if you know what you are doing, but it's something to think about.

Check Craigslist... I just bought a Toshiba 57" DLP HDTV for $400 on my local list... it's always worth checking out before spending top dollar at retail... Just keep looking...

My advice would be to stay away from Plasma. I know, they will pitch to you that they now have "pixel relocation" technology to prevent burn-ins, but when the tech fix doesn't really work (similar to the CMOS sensor cleaning on DSLR's) you are stuck with burned in images from playing video games. If you need to go big, it will be most economical to go with a rear projection LCD or DLP. There are Pros and Cons with either technology - Mainly the Blacks are not true black but a darker shade of grey on the LCD and on the DLP with it's 1000's or 1000000's of mirrors (depending which commercial you are watching) you have the issue of mechnical parts and possible failure. Some also claimed that on DLP's the "screen door" effect is noticeably more of a problem. LCD TV's are nice however, they have the size limitations (at least for now) and they do not have the color saturation and definition of a plasma...Full Circle. There are pro's and cons to all technologies right now. None is a true winner. Fanboys of one technology would swear their decision was best, but the true best decision is made by you who will have to write the check, part with the cash or pay the monthly payments. But unless you are a gambling person, I would steer clear from the plasmas, because albeit plasmas have arguably the best IQ compared to the rest, you will have to contend with the issue of burned in images arising from playing video games.

I bought a Samsung 1080p DLP 50", simply because I didn't want to invest in a 120hz LCD due to how expensive they are. I've been extremely satisified and have no regrets about my tv.

I'd go for the 4665 also. Samsung makes excellent LCD tvs. I have a 40" 1080p Samsung that I bought in November and I've been satisfied with it ever since. It has an amazingly clear picture, and I've never had any problems with it.

If you're considering getting that tv, I'd get it now while it's on sale. That's a great price for that tv.

My experience with CL and HDTV is that either the TV sucks or the price sucks. The few decent listing you will find will be sold.

I'm going to buy a 50" (+) TV this summer, planning to get a plasma but I might consider something else. I might check CL, but I'm not expecting to find a TV on there. Chances are anybody with a really good 1080p TV simply isn't trying to sell it.

i have the samsung LNT4061F and i love it. if you were happy with your old samsung, you'll probably be happy with a bigger one.

Don't most LCD's have response time that causes at least a tiny bit of lag?

My friend had a super nice Bravia LCD that was 1080p and it had a little bit of response time lag in Halo, Guitar Hero etc. Don't they also get blocky during quick action like football or basketball?

All sorts of deals for HDTV don't you check the DEALS sites, you can save $300 off any HDTV over $999 at circuit city right now. Real Easy to do, only need a cell phone to take advantage of this deal.
