Hey, I just got Xbox Live last week and I have only one game that works with it (XIII). Well, I have the unfourtunate problem that it seems not to be very popular and theorfore are not many people to play games with.

I was just wondering some suggestions to some good xbox live games to purchase based on quality and popularity of users playing THAT game.

Thanks

Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Rainbow Six 3 seem to be the most popular. I'm sure theres tons of people playing ESPN nfl 2k5 right now.

I haven't played in a while, but I would imagine that Project Gotham Racing 2 is still pretty popular as they just released some new DL content not so long ago - I've never had problems finding people to play Top Spin with either...although everybody hands my ass to me at that one :/

Yeah, you cannot go wrong with PGR2. I have logged more hours on that game in one month than any other game. Incrediably fun and addictive if you like racing games. The people online playing are all pretty cool as well. I never have trouble finding games with players at my skill level.

Pretty much EVERY Live game, even if they suck (Soldier of Fortune 2, for example) have plenty of people online at all times to play against.

Your best bet is to go with the sports games (Links, ESPN NFL 2K5), racing games (Rallisport 2, PGR 2), and shooters (Counter Strike, Crimson Skies, Rainbow Six 3).

I dont have Xbox live (Just plain old Xbox) but the game that I hear about the most for Xbox in magazine articles and gaming websites is Crimson Skies. Supposely that game is made for Xbox live

I also heard good things about Wolfenstein and Mechassault on Live.

The major ones are the ones I bought: Links 2004 (beats Tigers ass off), Counter Strike, MechAssault, PGR2, RS3, SCPT

All are great and really fun to play with people online

PGR2, Mech Assault, RS3, and SCPT are games that I have and always have alot of people on.

I don't know if a lot of people play it, but Ghost Recon Island Thunder is a great game. It also has an assload of free content to download.

What's funny is how much Crimson Skies was liked by everyone yet it's never talked about.

Go to an EB or a Gamestop. Most won't have a used copy of Crimson Skies in stock. Nobody wants to part with this game because it's fantastic. It's probably one of the top 10 games I've EVER played, and I've been gaming since the Atari days.

It's just wacky to me that a game that gets an A (or 90% +) from everyone is still underrated.

Crimson Skies is, IMHO, the best on the service. Mech Assault has so much downloadable content (Some of it paid at $4.99.) that it's nearly a diffferent game online from when you bought it. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the most played game a year ago and the Beach Invasion level was bout the only thing I played for three months.

ESPN 2K5 is going to have tons of gamers. If you're just a casual sports player like me though chances are you are going to be a whipping boy every time you game online. There are some excellent players I've come across.

PGR 2 is phenomenal online and even the offline Live stuff like downloading ghosts, knowing where you rank in the world etc. are just incredible. I don't have RSC 2 but I assume from what I've heard it's just as great.

CounterStrike? This is the one Live game everyone loves that I can't get into. I've tried several times but it does nothing for me YMMV.

Midtown Madness 3, again, hated this game, couldn't get into it yet some love it. I fell in love with Midnight Club 2 online last summer and had a blast with it, I don't know how many people are still playing it though.

Liitle gem that no one's mentioned that my GF and I have actually had fun with is Tetris Worlds. I've actually met some nice people on there and had real conversations so in that regards it's like XBL's "parlor" game to me. It also has custom soundtracks. Yeah, it got bad reviews but I have no idea why, I mean... it's Tetris with a different wrapper and online play. How can that be bad?

Well that's the long and short of it as you can tell the consenus on what the good games are is very consistent. There are no major disputes as to what's good on the service.

Oh and Rainbow Six 3 is THE online shooter. I have XIII as well but the online part was obviously an afterthought and isn't that entertaining.
