Well yesterday I went in to get ninja gaiden for xbox. I asked the new employee ( everyone quit a week ago so now some corp manager works there and some new people) if they had a copy in. They searched in the computer and there wasnt a copy in stock but he said he was sure they had a disc only copy.I didnt really care as long as I got the game. Anyway it took him about 5 min to find it and when he got ready to check me out he goes " shoot my computer is froze just gimme $16 and ill sell it to you." Now me being happy they actually have a copy of this game gave him the money without thinking. I started playing it and I remembered he didnt even take my MVP discount off and I remembered that a couple weeks ago an employee told me that ninja gaiden for xbox was 7.99!! What can I do??

you got jipped. I'd report him to the mgr. They raised it to 9.99/8.99 with MVP this week but you definitely got conned.

17.99 is to much for the original Ninja Gaiden. GS has it for $10. Maybe he sold you a copy that was going to be destroyed? I'd wait for Scorch to chime in though.

*edit

nvm lol.

Let me take a guess, you didn't get a receipt with it too? Report it to the mgr. and hope that he'll give a crap. If he doesn't do anything, ask for the district mgr.'s number.
even if it was in the system the employee probably paid it and kept the difference.
Hey Scorch, I've always wondered, what does GC do when it comes to unplayable/broken games? When my company designed/built the new Blockbusters' here in town, we got to meet the DM of the local BB's in town. When asked the same question, he said they actually destroyed all non-working media, and by that they physically break every game/movie disc that wasn't working. Just wondering what you guys do?

Well the thing is I think the guy that sold it to me is the district manager because he had to come into the store and run it because every employee quit

Well I just talked to an employee that used to work there and he said the guy was a manager and hes a real jerk. He also called and the price for ninja gaiden was 9.99 used without mvp >.<

EDIT: If anyone has the number to corporate please lemme know so I can get this douche fired
Why would someone scam or steal from another person for a measly six bucks?
because double cheeseburgers are tasty.

It's only a rip-off if you're dumb enough to fall for it...

...so yes, you got ripped off

hopefully the manager will do something about. I know former GC workers who would either sell their own games there or buy straight from the customer for like $5 more than the trade in value, then flip it on Ebay. None of them ever got fired for it though...

I thought it was because Six Dollar Burgers cost $6.

Gamecrazy having seedy employees. Shocking. I've only ever known two that didn't seem sleazy. Scorch and this kid who works at the local one that's also on here.

No need to flame. If you want to do that go to GameFAQs or something, we don't need that here.

Who knows how many times that guy did it? If he ripped off 100 people $6 each, that's $600. Also, stealing smaller amounts would be less obvious. The things you learn in fraud examination class...:)

is there any chance you got ninja gaiden black? I may be mistaken but I think the price for that is 14.99 used and after tax 16.23.
Could be why he asked for 16. 00 and would make more sense than a dm or smgr ripping someone of for 6.00.
Also the computers do freeze quite a bit.

Actually, I think the double-sammiches are a more likely reason, but we can go with that there "logic" thing you have going if you think it fits better.

Sit them in the back in a box labeled 'defectives'. That box is then emptied and sent out to our home office. What's done after that? No idea.

The public CS/Complaint line is 1-800-SPEAK-TO-US. They escalate complaints fast. Like within 24 hours fast. I suggest calling them and explaining the situation, they'll get something done.

:whistle2:# Who the fuck buys a game just from someones word on what it costs? This is why I like stores which have their prices clearly marked on their website(ala Gamestop, even though I despise them), since then if I find a copy of a game I want and it's marked higher, the price SHOULD be the lower one from the site and ring up as such.

Go back and at LEAST demand a receipt, you're at least owed that much. But please, please, please have some patience from now on and learn when to say 'I'll come back when the system isn't locked up'. Too many scammers out there nowadays, you know.

Unfortunately if you try do go back to the store, which now seems to have a completely new staff, demanding anything, you'll prety much be blown off. I always think of the receipt as part of the purchase and if I don't get a receipt then that's just as good as selling me a game with no disc. I almost demanded a return or at least void out of a transaction because their stupid printer got stuck and everything printed on one line.

Anyway you got ripped off and that guy intended to scam you. Especially if he was a supervisor, he would know that every piece of inventory must be accounted for and he would have at least just ran the transaction through so the the system knows that a Ninja Gaiden was sold. Not only did he get an extra $7 from you but he also kept the extra $7 that the game would have cost. The guy scammed you from the get go and you pretty much can't do anything about it.

The first thing in shopping is getting a receipt. Otherwise it's your word against theirs, and that never has a good success rate. I'm afraid that emceelokey is correct in that you got ripped off and that you pretty much can't do a thing about it. The first clue was when the employee said that system was down. No chain store that I know of would complete a transaction without the system working. Well at least you didn't learn this lesson from a big ticket item and only paid $7 to learn it.

They are more than likely shipped to a manufacturer, who then grinds up all the pieces to recycle the material.
Isn't Ninja Gaiden rated M?
I believe so. Take your little brother (if he's a minor) in and claim he was sold an M-rated title and taken advantage of by being overcharged. It may ruffle a few feathers.

Seems like a good idea but I dont want to start anything

Call it a $7 lesson and move on with your life. It's a good game and you should get $16 worth of entertainment out of it in addition to your $7 lesson.
im sure they have cameras there watching. especially at the cashier
Great idea! Use their security camera footage as proof if their customer service does not believe you.

There`s a reason everyone quit. I don`t even bother going in there anymore- seriously considering cutting up my MVP card and sending it into their corporate offices, too, with a note explaining why they lost a customer.

Besides, there`s a 100x better store ten steps away in the same mall.

it sucks you got ripped off. you need to live and learn on this deal here i hope it woke ya up so next time you can say i will hold off or wait until the system comes back online.

one way or another we all had to learn the hard way on these boards it might not have been buy getting ripped off on a game but it could be a valuable life lesson

sorry it happened man. i think you should do nothing and let it go

when I was manager at Hardee's 4 or 5 years ago, I caught some 16 year olds over charging people .25-.50 an order (not every single one). Me being a nice guy (maybe too nice) I just told them to knock it off, and if I heard or saw them do this again they were gone. Out of curiosity a couple weeks later I asked how much they made. They told me they could pull in 20-25 bucks in 6 hour shift! Damn. Imagine what you could do with 3-7 bucks a game!

Just a thought but if he remembers the date and the approximate time he bought the game, is Corporate able to see which items were purchased at what date/time via their POS system? On one hand, if the manager put it through after the OP left the store, it should appear in the system. On the other, if the manager didn't put it through, there should be a discrepancy in the store's inventory. Either way, both would work a bit more in the OP's favor.

THat's my 2 cents, though, for whatever that's actually worth. ;)

When I worked at Blockbuster here, they had a manager who would ring up movies, credit the account, then pocket the cash. He was bringing in huge amounts of money.. they caught on quick though

Speaking of scamming and movies. When I worked at a movie theater, let's just say that the place was more than corrupt, me included, but let's just say that with the help of the managers I caked up crazy money per day. I'm talking taking home over $150 a day and that's AFTER splitting half with the manager. I would only work weekends there and my paycheck every two weeks was only about $150 for about 30 hours of work ($5.75hour). Now think about getting $150+ a day. That place was great and I was only 17 at the time so I didn't worry too much but I took some time off because I had to move and they didn't know that i requested it and apparantly that that I no called, no showed for two days and fired me. I actually though that was a good thing and was actually relieved when that happened.

But basically, when you go to a movie theater make sure you double check your ticket so that it says general admission or matinee or whatever they charged you for. Sometimes they'll charge you for a free ticket or a promo ticket (movie money) and pocket the $9 you paid for the ticket. I still don't think they really care though, the theaters make money from the concession stands anyway and a tickte to any movie still counts as credit towards the movie's box office. Afterall, you're paying $9 to sit down in a room that's going to run the movie wether there are prople in it or not.

My friend works at McDonald's. One day she decided to give back every customer she rang up 1¢ less than what she actually owed them (unless of course their change was an exact dollar amount, because I sure would notice being handed 99¢ over a dollar bill). No customer ever caught on and she made about $1.30. That's 130 customers. If she had been daring enough to take more than 1¢ from each that would have added up quite fast.

I guess the moral of this thread is retail workers get paid shit and want your money just as much as their corporations do, so watch out.

Oh, and as for me I have too much of a conscious to steal from the customers, though I do love being assigned to sweep the lobby at my restaurant. People will often not know what to do with their change after we hand it back to them, so they'll drop a dime or two in front of the counter or just set it on their table while eating and then when the pick it up knock one of the nickels under their seat. I always find 10-50¢ on the ground every time I sweep. It's not much, but if you take it all home and through it in a bank or jar you'll notice you start to amount quite a few dollars over time.

I had a friend who made his first two Jeep payments using money he'd collected from either overcharging at Taco Bell or ringing it up as a "no sale". The best part is that it was his manager that taught him how.

In college I worked at a gas station that offered a senior discount. It was a key on the register that you pushed when you thought someone was a senior (or if they showed you their buckeye card).

I would use this for almost every transaction, but would refund the customer the change that they were expecting.

If anything it made me extremely quick in doing math in my head so that I could calculate the correct change.
