Well, I read a post here a few days ago about someone saying they traded in some blockbuster games that he bought to FYE,

Now earlier I had gone to FYE, thinking it was Fry's so I could look for Skies or Arcadia....well no luck, but i did see the trade in your game sign.

I had 5 games sitting around that I bought extra's off to trade in to EBGAMES 4 for 1 deal.

when I went to go trade them in, the lady rang up the prices, They all rang up for 7.50 or 8.50 except for my ATV offroad fury, because they couldn't resell it, even though EB or other stores would.

I only had one game that was opened, Devil may Cry GH, which I bought mint on ebay for 6 dollars.

The manager went to go put the games away then he said, well these games are SEALED, so I can just give you an exchange price for them. (Wipeout still had the CC sticker on there) So it was even better!

Freaky Flyers (5 at circuit city) Got 17.99 credit
SummerHeat volleyball (Free Tru game) Got 29.99
Wipeout Fusion (5 at circuit city) Got 19.99
Devil May Cry (12 after S+H EBAY) 8.50

So I ended up buying Viewful Joe and Metal Gear Twin Snakes (reserved).

FYE has expensive priced DVD and CD, but their video games are about equal priced, and the copy of Viewful Joe I got was used but when I asked to looked at the used games they were all suprisingly mint.

So if any of you have those 5 dollar cheapys sitting around u can trade them in, even if you don't get lucky like i did, u will still get a better than EB/GS Price

These are the following trade in prices if I had opened the games.
Freaky Flyers 7.50
Summer VB 8.50
Wipeout 8.50

...um, i should see what they want for my splinter cells. Gamecrazy's only saying 6, which is what they are going for on ebay

Well, I just checked their website and the prices seem pretty much the same as what they had instore, and what they offered was a little under to a little above a 3rd of the cost. Splinter Cell is 19.99

So you should get 7.50-8.50 But its only worth it if you are going to trade it for something else...

New bond game. must have now... :)

but the thing is, they (2) are unopened. Wondering if i'd luck out....before anything else, i need to talk to my friends from gamestop...

Well you could slightly pursuade the person, and say I got this game for my birthday and I know you take used games so can I trade this in?" And you may get the same response I did :).

no, they only do credit, however they are a media/electronics store so they have other things besides games, and so far they give the most for trade ins which outweights some of the higher prices that they have on things. www.fye.com

I just traded in Freaky Flyers (bought for $5) for $18 credit, and Wipeout Fusion (bought for $5) for $20 at an fye here in Atlanta. The game selection there really sucked, and they were all out of Spy Hunter 2 and Soul Calibur 2 so I couldn't do the rebate thing. But, since I hadn't opened those 2 CC games, they took them for credit with no hassle! I got PS2 Beyond Good and Evil, and a Lost in Translation DVD for an even swap!

Big thanks to Theeternal for suggesting this deal/trick.

YMMv - I tried a new Wipeout Fusion PS2 at the FYE in Serramonte, NorCal, and I could not get credit. They would only buy it as a used game.
whats that again? never heard of it either.. got a website or store lacations?
FYE was once known as "The Wall" music store.

FYI Eternal. Fry's Electronics does not exist on the east coast. Furthest east they've come is Dallas, Texas (or is it San Antonio...) At any rate, we don't get to indulge in their awesome sales. God I wish I would have never moved away from the Sunnyvale Fry's...

hmm I wonder how much I would get for my used copy of haven, and the jet set radio future/segaGt 2002 xbox game. I paid 5 for haven at CC and $4 for the combo pack at gamestop. Theres an Fye thats not to far from where I am.

My Fye wouldnt take jet set Radio Future combo, they said it was not for resale so they couldnt. They did, however, take my PSO for Xbox for like 20-30$, when I paid 5 for it.

nice, looks like a lot of people are having the same luck. Hopefully it doesn't get abused...too bad and ends up get taken away.. However at least the used trade in is good though.

FYE is one of those stores that sell overpriced CDs. For Portland area CAGs, there's an FYE at Lloyd Center that buys used games.

I think their prices for used stuff is fair. I haven't found any amazing deals, though, but it's a place to check out every now and then, just in case.

For those looking for FYE stores, they're generally located in malls. You won't usually find them as a stand-alone B&M, usually though you'll find a stand-alone coconuts (which is the same thing). At least here on the east coast, you'll find FYE's in almost every mall. Usually they'll have an FYE or Sam Goody/Suncoast Video.

I was just wondering, would Fye pricematch ebgames 4 for 1 trade in deal when you bring the eb ad? they buy and sell used games as well so i don't think it wouldn't be a problem since they also price match from other retailers. Anyone willing to give it a try?

I believe they just built a new B&M FYE's here in Plano, TX. I haven't been in it yet, but I'm bout to try and trade some of Eb's POX games in and see what I can get.

FYE tends to have a better selection of popular music than most stores though (i.e. stuff like rock, rap, hip hop, r&b, electronica, etc.)

My FYE is a rip-off with 30 dollar GBC games. It truly sucks.

Oddly enough I've gotten some good GBA deals at FYE. I picked up Fire Pro Wrestling 2 for $17.99.... it's not an AMAZING price but the game is pretty damn hard to find. Plus they sell Pac-Man Collection and Namco Museum for $15 which, granted, is the MSRP, but still $5 less than what Gamestop/EB sell them for.

By the way, I wouldn't hold your breath on getting any price matches. Since FYE routinely sells all but the new release CD's for $20 each, I doubt they have such a policy. But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
