I want to fall in love again

I love this site, but damn. People just need to practice some self-restraint. I've had to really curb my game buying, not only because it gets expensive buying all these cheap games, but also because I'm running out of space to store them. I'm sticking to the free game sites, and what little Gamestop credit I have left.

Just buy 1 or 2 games and play the shit out of them before you get another one. I know it's tough, especially with all the hot games coming out soon (August through November).

I have a few games that I play with certain people, and keep the single player games for when there's nobody online or available to play co-op.

Mana Knight,

I don't know your financial situation, but put it this way, do you ever just buy $1.50 in junk food or something, just because. You don't need it, it's just an impulse, and you enjoy it, then its gone? Your getting $1.50 for a game, why not keep it? Just reconcile in your head what it is. Really, if you never play it again, is it much of a loss? Yet, if you play it just once (even years from now), it's likely worth it.

I think there ought to be 2 sets of "backlog". If you are spending $20 on games that are likely going to be $5 games in 2 years, then they shouldn't just be sitting there. If you aren't playing them, getting rid of them is fine. But, if you got games that you can only get $1-$4 for, there is no real reason to get rid of them for the money. If you are going to throw them out for space, fine. But, outside of that, might as well keep them. For the price of 1 beer, you may have a game that you might play again (and, if you don't, no real loss).

I actually rarely spend money, except on games and sometimes other stuff.

Well, the game I'll get $1.50 for, I paid $30 for it and completed 40% of it. It's a great game, but just makes me hate gaming more when my backlog is so big, and every little bit helps (even $1.50).

I just hate having a bunch of games sitting around. I'll admit I've give out a bunch of PS1/DC games for almost free just to get them off my hands (since I know I cannot trade them at GS).
TMK, get your eyes checked!

Glasses aren't bad... I wear both contacts/glasses and if I can do it, you can do it!
You wear both at the same time, or one or the other? ;) The way you worded it almost made it seem like you wear both at once.

I'm just too cheap to get them checked (along with other reasons) and I have problems caring more about video games over my health. My vision isn't really bad, so I may not need to worry yet.

The only retail game I see myself getting between now and October is Metal Gear Solid 4. Ninja Gaiden 2 was up there, but I've sort of lost interest. So, it will give me time to complete my backlog.

The backlog is really hurting my love of games right now. I'm sort of forcing myself to go back and beat the massive backlog I have. I doubt I'll beat a few of them, but taking a good chunk of em down would really help me get back to enjoying gaming, because all I'm doing now is chugging through games as fast as possible so I can complete my backlog, and that's not something I want to do for much longer.

TMK, I alternate wearing both.

I mean dude, you care more about videogames than your health? Something is wrong with you. I hope you get super sick and unable to play videogames so that you can figure out what is more important. ;)

This isn't rocket science.

1. Quit buying so many fucking games.
2. Get rid of games you'll never play. Sell the onces worth something, sell or donate the ones that aren't worth much.

That's just messed up. If you don't have your health, you can't enjoy anything else....including games.

Even more messed up since you keep saying you "hate" gaming these days and are sick of it....

I'm going through this phase again right now.

I still love my PSP and it sees a lot of love but I'm not missing my PS3 as much as I thought I would. I bought an xbox to mod but am getting rid of it simply because I don't want to throw myself into having a huge backlog again.

I am flirting with the idea of buying a Wii again because it would allow me to play online against my sisters which is something I truly would like to do and have a lot of fun with and since there's so much shovelware on it compared to good games I wouldn't get bogged down with a backlog. We'll see what happens at E3.

I guess my whole point is just do whatever you think is fun and stay away from message boards too much as it's easy to get overloaded with game info.

I hear people talking about a game and I get tempted. Or even, I play a demo, watch a video off of PSN/XBLM, and get tempted. That's just how it works.

Some games are really easy getting rid of. Some it just isn't easy. Some I think I might want to play again, so that makes it kind of difficult. It's not like I feel I'll play everything, since I'll try to get rid of most stuff. It might hurt me a little, but I decided to get rid of .Hack//G.U. (found a CAG member to buy it). Also, wouldn't it be hard getting rid of a game you paid $50 or so for, and can only get very little for it back (especially if it's a game you don't really hate)? I'll admit I got $0.50 back for a game I paid $40 for, but I hated it so badly I was glad to ditch it. And it can be hard selling games these days because of two problems:
-No Ebay sellers account (just haven't been able to create one and get it to work).
-Due to getting scammed here at CAG (and almost), I had to make the rules on my tradelist way more strict to avoid another possible problem.

That's just messed up. If you don't have your health, you can't enjoy anything else....including games.
It's true, but then again, I'm very hard on myself. ;) I mean, I would starve myself until I finished all my homework, and I tried to cut back on eating to buy more video games. I even sold textbooks many times to buy more games.

Even more messed up since you keep saying you "hate" gaming these days and are sick of it....
It's a love/hate relationship overall.

Gaming is like an addiction. I sometimes like it, but at the same time I'm sick of it because it has taken over my life, held me back from other important things (like a certain thread in Off Topic I started discusses), and sometimes feel forced to play games to get through a backlog. And also, just not easy for me to find a new hobby (I don't really like cars, can't play golf worth crap, not really into wrestling, etc.)

The only way I could get away from gaming is if someone took me somewhere, away from all my gaming platforms and internet.

You need to learn some self control man.

There's lots of games I get excited about, books I'd like to read, trips I'd like to take etc.

But I know I don't have time and money to do it all so I just pick the cream of the crop out of what I have time and money for and enjoy the hell out of them.
