Yea, especially since I never updated my own list with the new numbers. I still have numbers starting over under each section, so it took almost 3 minutes to match everything up after loading page 1.

I regularly pick stuff off at the last minute on eBay, but this seems to be a decent, friendly culture where people try to be more forward and honest, and it seems like the tactic used, while obviously 'slick', really took advantage of everyone else who was trying to play things straight-forward like.

Not only that, but it's just a little hard to believe in the past seven+ days, the only time he got on CAG was 5 minutes before the end of the lowball sale... Guess I can't complain, since I didn't get anything, but I know it's not cool for people who put a lot of time watching their items and getting their hope up...

I'm new, and I even picked up on that. I debated pursuing FF III in the last minutes because $15 seemed too good to pass up, but decided against it because I had my chance earlier, and you'd had it for sometime.

I enjoy that everyone seems to be friendly here. If I want Neiname's tactics, I'll go to eBay.

Hmmm, might be an interesting rule if someone has the high bid at the called time and a snipe shows up 1-2 min before end of lowball they get 1-2 minutes to post a higher bid.

kind of like snipe protection
 
Things got really competitive near the end there and the experience was quite fun. I was quite frantic tabbing in and out of the number post and the OP though. Again, I might be pissed if I missed something I was outbid on. :(

All week. I would have gladly paid more for it, it's easily worth the $22. I don't mind a bidding war, that's more money for punkmaggit and it's how these work - but that's something else entirely.

Nothing is "wrong" w/it, but when the seller specifies clearly: "I do not like sniping. I also do not like sorting through 75 last-minute bids to find out the winners and make an extra $10. So, if you plan to win, your best option is to make a decent bid early!", I take it under advisement that he discourages against it.
 
So you underbid trying to get a deal and get upset when someone bids higher than you. Why didn't you just bid the most you wanted to pay and be done with it. If someone sniped you or outbid you at the end it's because they wanted to pay more than you did. What's Bushido Blade 1 and 2 worth? ($30-40) yet you had the balls to leave a $4 and $5 bid out there and expect to not be outbid? Final Fantasy III is at least $27-30 and you leave a $17 bid hanging out there. Do not condem my tactics when you are trying to pay less than you are willing to pay hoping that someone doesn't come and outbid you.
 
Like I was telling another CAG through PM.. there are some shady ass people here on CAG.com but there's not really much we can do it about. There are the good guys and then there are the douchebags. Meh.

I'm not really sure about all this, punkmaggit did mention how he frowned upon the whole sniping thing. I'm glad I reclaimed all my bids but I'm sure there were other people clearly sniped in such a crude fashion. We'll leave it up to our esteemed auctioneer in regards to the whole matter.

I don't necessarily find the whole sniping process to be wrong, ebay has taught me that it's practically essential. But it was the basic fact that unknown items were sniped. An auction is designed to fairly increase the bids in the first place. The entire mechanics are wholly different from a traditional house auction and ebay auctions. The fact that it's "around" a certain time is already enough to indicate this. No one would be questioning his bids nearly as much if only the names were listed.

And the idea of it being rush-typed is bullshit. It's just as simple to have a notepad out with the names of the game already listed and changing the numbers accordingly as you refresh the page, then posting that.

I had that $15 bid on Final Fantasy III sitting there for the entire lowball. If you'd come along earlier this week I would have gladly bid against you for it. Didn't catch your earlier bids I guess.

Sniping and outbidding is one thing, what you did was bullshit. Don't feed the bullshit it was quicker to type the numbers. Copy and fucking paste, you did this on purpose, trying to snipe without giving anyone else time to outbid you because they are busy trying to see what it was you bid on.


Don't make us out to be the bad guys, snipe and outbid all you want, just be a man about it. Doing it like that was just cowardly.


This place is a friendly forum because we have respect for each other, but when someone trys something like that is ruins everything this place is built on.

Honestly, it's called "CHEAP ASS GAMER" for a reason... Why bid $27 on an item when there's a chance you can win it for $22? Honestly, explain why you only did numbers in a fairly confusing format within 10 minutes of the end? You really haven't been on CAG for the past seven days?
