Definitely follow the information some others in here have provided, OP.

Get in touch with her local police.
File a claim at www.ic3.gov.
Look into filing for mail fraud.
Make sure you have done everything you can with PayPal (which I believe you already have).

I'd even send another email, calmly letting her know that you know her previous emails are bogus. Then, maybe mention that you are already in contact with her local authorities, and bring up the severity of the situation (name drop her local police department, if you can get that information.)

And do keep us posted. I really hope you do end up with your money.
 
and if i remember, you could get a whole bunch of information from emails in the header information. i was listening to this security podcast "security now" @ twit.tv and they were talking about email security. you would be able to narrow the email to at least the city with the information in the header of the email or something like that.

That's so nice of the moderator to delete the threads instead of just locking/moving them.... nothing like a little evidence tampering, if you ask me.

If you could, please PM me her email address. I'll see what kind of digging I can do.

Edit #2: It's a longshot, but a quick google of her username came up with few results. Most were linked to the DoD posts, but one result came up for MomJunction.com. I know there is a slight chance someone else can use the same name, NinasMommy05 , but considering how few google results there were, there is a very good chance it's her. According to that site, she lives in New Port Richie, FL.
 
If you file a police report (with your local department), you can probably get some information from the forums your were posting on. I see that they deleted the main thread, and the only way to get that information back (and to you) is to get a subpoena or politely ask the forum operators for it. If they refuse, tell them that you will get a subpoena and they'll generally bow down once the paperwork goes through. Let me know if this bitch is in socal too. I wouldn't mind TPing some scamming fucker's house, apartment, trailer park piece of shit.

That's a fantastic tip!

Full headers in emails provide a wealth of information, including IP addresses and such.

Assuming you were using a Hotmail/Yahoo email account, OP, you can go into the options screen and turn Headers to Full. Then, open the email, and it will have a lot of information for you that can be helpful.

If it is another email system, they most likely also have an option buried somewhere to turn on full headers.
 
It's very easy to whois someone's IP and find out where they are as long they aren't using AOL. I used this to confirm that a guy actually was from Boston when he responded to a CL ad.

LOL that's funny. I have been investigating her headers earlier today and she was using aol. I think she has a new address and it's a yahoo one. I'm not sure what I'm looking for in the yahoo header. Something else I found out today was that she is still using her email address with ebay and she is an active ebay member but they won't give me her ebay ID name because I haven't had a transaction with her.
 
The part that raised my eyebrow was the 45 minutes from a post-office? Where is she, the top of Mount Everest? Also, the fact she says, I'll get to it when I get to it, what does that mean? Next year? Then she threatens you with a harassment claim......get your money back and say adios lady....:bomb:
 
I'm close to giving up. I can't get a last name or address. She said she lives in New Port Richey on all these sites but she told someone else she lives in Clearwater. Paypal won't help. She closed her vixenxbeauty name down on aol. My stupid computer crashed on me, I'm getting discouraged and sad. :cry:

The problem is, she doesn't have the person's real name, only speculation at what it may be. Paypal hasnt helped and I haven't gotten anything out of AOL over that username.

I know it's not me who got scammed, but I want to see this bitch go down like a $5 whore.

As far as the monetary value goes, again, why does it matter how much was lost? I remember reading another similar post that made it sound like the issue didn't matter because the cost wasn't extreme. $5 or $75, and I know I'd be letting people know. Especially on the Internet, when that same scam artist will probably pull the same crap on other people.

I'd be raising hell even if I got rippped off $5. Sure losing $5 isn't a big deal but to me it's the fact of the matter and I'd still do whatever I could even if it's more then $5 worth of trouble as it's not right for anybody to not make good on their end of a deal no matter how little or much it is. I'd want to give the person ripping me off a hell of a time trying to get away with it even if it was just a few dollars.
 
Wow, I saw this thread when it was bumped up to the front page, then read through it. Sucks you haven't gotten anything back, but I, like everyone else here, want to see this bitch go down! And no matter the amount of money that's being stolen, the fact is it is stealing, even if it isn't a huge amount.

Also, don't mean to hijack your thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. Has anyone had any transactions with studeymikey on ebay? I bought this battery for my iBook last Monday (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=200139289577) and I've sent him 7 e-mails since then and called him/left a message, and he hasn't answered to any of them. His feedback seems great.

Any suggestions other than file a dispute in a couple days?

My bet is that he's just swamped and hasn't had a chance to write back... although he states typical shipping is 2 or 3 days for the US.

When you say last Monday, are we talking three days ago? Cause 7 emails and a phone call for three days of bad communication is sorta pushing it. If it was a week ago, then yeah, I'd be a bit worried. If it's been three days, I say give the guy till after the weekend and then start pushing him again (or going through the reporting steps).

Like I said, LAST Monday, as in 11 days (going on 12) ago. Someone else left negative feedback yesterday with a very similar situation, he replied to their neg. feedback saying "Sent/received! All their addresses are invalid so can't comm! Very uncalled for!"

Even on a lot of the positive feedback people say the communication was poor, so it's apparently nothing new for this guy. If he has time to reply to negative feedback then he has time to send me an e-mail. I filed a dispute with paypal and left him negative feedback today. I shouldn't have to go through world war 3 to get a $49 item. I thought maybe for a second he was on vacation or something, but he is still listing items and feedback is still being posted. Even after filing a dispute with PayPal at 5am this morning, he still hasn't replied in any way shape or form.

I needed this battery by Aug. 22nd also because I'll be starting the new semester at college and my current battery only holds a 2 and a half hour charge it seems. Is there anything else I can do?
