I wonder why GS hasn't raised the prices of used WaveBirds...

As we all know, GS prices many of their rarer items according to eBay prices. And thus, we get beat up, scratched up copies of MvC2 for $80 or Dark Alliance for $50. Anyway, one thing I noticed the other day was that they sell used WaveBirds for under $20. One caught my eye, just sitting there in plain sight. I don't even have a GC (anymore) or Wii, but I had to get it. I mean, I paid a grand total of $16.19 after the Edge Card.

Last time I was hunting for a used wave bird at eb I found one with some weird gunk on it. No way in hell I am buying that crap.

Well, I certainly don't blame you for that.

you would think that during down time, one employee would spend a few hours in the back cleaning trade in's and then putting it up for sale.Yet they will be happy to sell you a used game 5 dollars off MSRP full of scratches and finger prints :(

I hear that. It never ceases to amaze me how "un-busy" GS employees seem to be. There simply are too many times when I go in, see three employees behind the counter, and despite a line 5 customers keep, two of them are bullshitting. Maybe, if one of them actually did something, they wouldn't...oh, I don't know...sell people PSP games with cracked UMD cases and scratched discs.

I can't say I'd buy one (to use) even if I found one. A used controller is a no buy from me.

Still, it is strange the price hasn't been raised yet

Cause at GS, managers don't give a fuck. The employees don't give a fuck either. They think they are in the greatest retail job in the world and know everything about the video game industry and willing to argue with customers over silly rumors and game opinions. I usually go in, find my item, use my coupon and get out.

DON'T..............GIVE......................THEM....................IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!!

They already jacked the price of every game with a character in the upcoming SSB Brawl.
Used controllers - unless they're selling them for 50 cents it's a terrible gamble.
Nonetheless, plenty of people do not subscribe to this line of reasoning, considering they pay $40 for them on eBay. I just find it odd that this is one of the few things that GS hasn't jacked the prices up on to match eBay.

The reason that they haven't gone up in price is that they are under a Generic SKU, which is just for used wireless gamecube controllers. We can't raise them more than $19.99 because we still sell GS branded wireless controllers for the gamecube. If you are lucky and know someone that works at a GS then you can get a pretty good hook up. I have 4 wavebirds in mint condition since I get dibs on them.

I found one as well, it had some marker on it but that came off easy enough with some goof off. Worked fine and if it hadn't, I would have taken it back. Seems like one of the better deals to be had a GS if you can find one.

Exactly. I'll buy used controllers if they look like they can be cleaned up. If they don't clean up enough or don't work, and I bought em from a store, I take em back. If I buy em from a yard sale (I don't pay more than $5 for a used controller at those), It was a low-risk, high-reward deal and I'm out whatever the few bucks I paid.

Give them time, they'll raise the prices on them shortly, once Brawl comes out. That'll really drive up the demand for Wavebirds.

Like you would care if you got paid minimum wage? I sure know that I wouldn't give a crap about anything!

You can return it for money back within a certain time if it doesnt work. If your dying for a wavebird, this is the easiest, cheapest way to get one. Take it home, clean it up, and test it. If its no good, take it back.

Use isopropyl alcohol and a used tooth brush to clean those wavebirds. Like Puffa469 said, take it back if it's no good.

I bought a wavebird before the Wii came out at GS used, it was only 17.99 and was in very nice condition, platinum color. Had a few scratches at most on it, and the original batteries were still in it and were about 1/3 full still. They probably had about 10-15 wireless controllers to choose from and about 8 of them were wavebirds so I got a good selection when I went. Of course I chose the best one out of the ones they had, some were pretty grimy. Although that grime can be easily cleaned off with windex, rubbing alcohol or another cleaner, if your not OCD and your desperate for a wavebird. Better get your wavebirds now before they raise the price!

I might buy one... I mean, I can't imagine playing Smash Bros with any of the other options other than a GC controller. I have 2 wavebirds already but for multiplayer, I'll need two more. A GS has a used one, I might go pick it up.

Good thing somebody thought up of the alcohol bath.

people are really surprised that employees at this place are sitting around idle at times? this is a video game store... about a step above gas station attendant.

for the record though, as much as i hate how this store sells used/opened copies as new and how much their prices blow, they do get some nice pre-order bonus items and their employees are always at least pretending to do work at the stores near me
