Hi all, I ordered a wonderful PC from ibuypower.com in the middle to end of November. Here is my story, enjoy:

The gist (it's a long gist, I know) of it is as follows:

1 Orders PC in Nov.
2 PC gets delayed till Jan. 3 due to "shortage of motherboards"
3 PC gets made and delivered by Dec. 20ish
4 A week of using it, and it shuts down randomly.
5 Looks inside PC, liquid cooling system cracked, coolant everywhere, PC overheating
6 Calls tech support (actually helpful people there, not outsourced to India)
7 Calls ibuypower...wow, headache ensues
8 After much debacle, get agreement to send back faulty PC for a NEW PC, since who knows what kind of damage the overheating and spilled coolant did
9 Fedex shipping slip only mentions sending back cooling system, 5lbs. (the PC is about 40 lbs)
10 Calls ibuypower....after much debacle, talk to manager. He says they will *fix* it, not replace it.
I say, no, I was told it would be completely new.
He says that's not their *policy*
I say, then I'll return this one, and buy a new one
ok.....
11. They enter wrong shipping address
12. After calling and correcting it, still wrong, and they ship it wrong
13. Due to wrong address, fedex doesn't deliver it the day they should
14. I call Fedex, correct it. They say it will come next day
15. Next day comes, no PC.
Calls Fedex, Fedex says there was a problem with a truck, so it didn't go out
16. I need it for school, so drive an hour to the Fedex facility to pick it up
17. Wait for over an hour for them to "find" it (also overhear guard saying the delivery guy to my area never showed up this morning... truck problem my ass)
18. Get it home, set up...all seems ok
19. Get it to school (today). It freezes up twice.
20. I install a temperature monitoring program, motherboard temp 50+C (Not good, not at all)
21. Call tech support....they will send me a new coolant system, and have someone come out to fix it.
22. Tech support forgets to give me a ticket of my complaint/order
23. I call them back, they say they will have the tech I talked to call back.
24. 4 hrs later, no call

So, all in all, I ordered mid November, and STILL don't have a working PC, and am out nearly about 3.5 grand until they refund me for the first one I sent back.

I've heard both good and bad stories about the site, but liked the options, and the price wasn't insanly inflated imho. Also, I don't feel confident building a PC myself, so I got one from here. Big fucking mistake.

I think they used to be good, but in the last year or so they've really started to suck. perhaps their business expanded too quickly for them to maintain a quality standard, pretty sad in either case
get all your money back and get a dell for cheap. what are you wanting to do on it?
I need one for the basics of school, but really, my somewhat fritzy laptop could prolly serve that purpose. This is to preplace the laptop, as the laptop has litterally started zapping me every once in a while.

Though, obviously, I wanna game on it too. The thing is a beast when it runs (I ran it yesterday, before I noticed the overheating problems). I installed Half Life 2 and Doom 3, both of which I can play at pretty much max settings flawlessly. Seriously, HL2 auto detects 8X antioscropic filtering and 4XAA.

Oh well, I really like it, other than the goofy cooling and asshole company. The specs are what I got it for. The price was also pretty alright, as I went to newegg.com and found out about how much the components would cost. The PC was only about 300-400 dollars more, and it has tech support (If I screwed up building one, I would be SOL)

I mean, seriously, an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ and 2 GeForce 6800GT's in SLI....niiiiice.

Just warning everyone about the shit company.

...as long as your happy now.

Yeah, I bought a computer from them, and it was decent. My only problem was that when they were hot glueing the cathode light strip to the bottom of the tank, they managed to get hot glue all over the inside of the case and on some of the electronics. It did no real harm, but it was kind of annoying after how much money I spent.

I've never used them, but I've used cyberpowerinc.com, which is rather similar. I've had no problems I couldn't fix on my own.

I used the wonder that is eBay to buy a Gateway a year ago for a really decent price. 3.0GHz P4 HT, 512 Ram, 160 SATA HDD, memory card reader, DVD+/- RW DL, etc. A year ago, it was a really good price for $500 shipped. Now, it would not be as impressive.

$500 for that is still a pretty good deal.

Sorry to hear about your situation Zmonkay. But I cant help but hear it because this is the 3rd thread in this forum out of the 5 I read that you posted that problem message lol.

lol, yeah, I followed up on a couple other threads with it, then wanted to make a new one, just about this, to maybe help others thinking of ordering from them.

Your mistake was at point 10. You should have returned it after their shitty "that's not our policy" remark and purchased a PC from another vendor.
