I wonder how many people will enlist in the army because of reports like this
...or how many will enlist for the job of "Warthog gunner".;)

I'm sure a lot of people are going to get pissed off about this comment, but here goes: those people are heroes? Might just be me, but those guys look like they want to be there. Tax payers money and god knows what else are being devoted to this "war" and yet these troops, however small % they make up, are sitting on their asses. Personally, the 13 people I know over there have not fired their gun, and don't see the fucking point in this "war." But I totally agree...the U.S.A. would get dominated in a war based on Halo gameplay.

I had a long response typed up, but then decided wtf - it isn't worth the long response to comments like this.

Suffice it to say this isn't the place for them.

However, if a soldier gets a few moments relaxation away from the stress of combat, patrols, and IED's then more power to them.

As for why they are there that should be obvious. If it isn't, then one day when those that don't understand are in power and our guard is down again - and there is a large mushroom cloud hanging over one of our great cities - sit down and think about it.

I won't get pissed at the ignorant comments of a pathetic douchebag who would shit his pants at the first sight of ground combat.

Ever take the time to consider they could be taking a break from working their asses off in the desert? Or they could National Gaurdsmen, sitting on their asses, but ready to protect your ass incase of an attack. :bomb:

i bet you sure would like to sit and play halo on Christmas day away from your family? or maybe even celebrate your birthday in a fox hole? You seem to think they have it easy out there, and what makes you think they want to fire their guns? their out there so you can sit at home and talk shit about them safely.

Spoken like a true civilian.

Is that the best you guys can do? Seriously...It's one guy's opinion. I could sit here and turn it all around, and make a half-hearted attempt to make the rest of you feel like shit. So I don't really consider those guys my heroes, no shame in that. You have your beliefs and opinions, as do I. So fuck you all for judging me cuz I spoke out. Good for them, they got a break. According to all the things I have heard, from personal encounters, its nothing but running drills and watching bootleg DVDs. To the guy who said I would shit myself at ground combat...that's a lie, cuz I would never put myself in that situation. Does that make me a coward? Nope...you go do it. If that's what you want, then go for it. I don't lose sleep over all of this, and I know you don't either. If the people I know die over there, I'll mourn them and accept my loss, but in no way will I become someone filled with hatred towards the government. It's all about choice...they chose to go out there and do whatever it is they are doing. And I am chosing to voice my opinion...so deal with it

This is the 360 forum, aka not the place to voice those opinions.

Everyone else -- please do not respond to this guy. He's clearly trolling and it's not worth your energy.

Tell that to everyone else who replied or gave their "opinion." And trolling? I'm not dragging a lure behind a boat in hopes of catching a fish...but nice idea though

Exactly. I suppose I'd be 'sitting on my ass' while trying to find insurgents through the screen of my Predator.

What a waste of carbon.

IS THAT WHERE MY TAX DOLLARS GO!?

Next thing you know, we'll see cops taking donut breaks on the beat.

You know what, it was nice to have outlets like this while in Iraq. I mean crap it isn't like we get to be around the people we love for a year. I brought my own Xbox and played against my fellow troops, but the set up you see there is from the Morale Welfare and Recreation part of the Army. They like to keep Soldiers' morale up because it is crappy as hell right about now, especiallly for those having been there multiple times. You guys mostly have no idea so don't flame this crap.

Dude, don't talk shit about a job you don't know shit about. Just cause your "buddies" over there don't do shit and wonder why they are there to support the rest of the Army, doesn't make it any easier for those that are outside the fucking gate getting blown up every day. There's two types of people that go to Iraq, those that go out the gate and see the real Iraq and those that stay inside the gates and wonder why they are there. They are there to support those that go out the gate. Your best option is to just keep your damn mouth shut if you don't like the Army. Remember without Soldiers you wouldn't have freedom.

Thank you for your service Wolve.

That is why comments like his get my gander up big time. My brother (CO, Texas NG Alpha Co 386th Eng BN) did his year there during Iraqi Freedom III, my nephew (Tennessee NG) just got back from IF IV - both were National Guard and neither "sat on their asses behind the lines wondering why they were there or however the hell he put it". And my cousin who did his year with the initial invasion (IF I, is now going back for IF V). He's a Marine and while he does server "behind the lines" its a needed job (he loads ordnance onto FA-18 Marine Hornets). None of my family members bitch and complain - they do their duty like you did.

If wars were fought like this, people would still die - so it'd still be kind of shitty.

Still it'd never give soliders a chance to rape and pillage as much as they would if they were actually there in person. Who were those soliders who JUST got charged for massacring those women and children? But yeah, they DO need breaks from that kind of stuff as well. Good thing they'll have Halo 3 now.

Is it ignorant because I'm not agreeing with the status quo? It's not like I made up what happened. And I kept in line with the thread. If wars were fought like that, less people would be raped and murdered. I mean you can't rape someone if you're not actually in the room with them.

Unless you're about to pull out some crazy robot action...

Correct me if I'm wrong but from your post you are making it sound like raping and pillaging is what most soldiers do instead of a very very very very rare exception. That is why it is ignorant. You are completely disrespecting the job our soldiers (not to mention their character) do by lumping them together with exceptionally rare stuff like that.

That's just the part of me that's outraged stuff like that happens, especially when these people are supposed to show what this country is all about.

What have I started?

All I'm saying is that nobody wants to go to war - it happens and it's something that has to be dealt with. I've got friends overseas now that are fighting, and I've got friends that went overseas and aren't coming back. Regardless, I'd be willing to bet that most, if not all, soldiers over there would rather get shot with a Needler than with an AK.

There are guys overseas that are doing everything they can so we can sit here and play videogames in the first place - the least we can do is let them go a few rounds with Master Chief and Halo 3 before anyone else does.

Wolve, thank you.

I like how each of those guys has a fucking fancy HDTV while my nephew's high school has 20 inch pieces of shit from the 80's/90's.

...Sorry.

wow, someone's a republican

Whether I am or not is of no consequence. I just have a strong sense of grattitude for the men and women of our all volunteer armed forces who put on the uniform and serve our country. It is because of them and generations of soldiers like them that came before, that others have the freedom and right to say and do whatever they like.

People tend to take their freedoms for granted, never understanding or thinking that freedom never comes free there allways has and allways will be a price to pay to remain free.

I don't think you're a coward, but thousands of Americans have died, so that you have the right to make that choice.

That's EXACTLY why those people over there ARE heroes. They VOLUNTEER to put their lives on the line for those that are unwilling. Or unable.

I served my country. I'd do it again if asked.

Iraq was not fought for my freedoms. It was fought under false pretense of WMDs. If the Democrats had any balls, they would have impeached Bush already.

Wow. You called his friends French. That was a very stupid attempt at being clever. Very stupid, indeed.
