If you could eliminate one band from your favorite music genre, who would it be?

My own musicians that I chose other than the ones I have previously mentioned are:

Chingy - G-d Awful rapper and has a horrible voice.
Lil' Jon - Worst rapper alive. Everytime he opens his mouth he ruins whatever o.k. sounding beat he had. Did I mention he can't rap and is just infusing it with this Crunk BS.
Evanescence - Again just G-d Awful
Avril Laveigne (sp or however you spell her name)
Yellowcard
Ashley Simpson
Jessica Simpson

Its just my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of rock that has come out in say the past 10 years. I can probably only name about 10 worth listening to. I enjoy most older stuff from rock when it was fresh. Now everybody is trying to sound like somebody or if not that than they just plain suck. Either way, no two people are gonna have the same perspective and tastes of music. I don't even really have a problem with rock its just when people start talking shit about something I love, (hip-hop/rap music), I get defensive and say some shit like my quote just to try and piss them off as well.[/quote]

I'm with Sblymnl, I enjoy rock much more, though I only have 2 albums for rap compared to 50+ for rock music. I do agree that I also hate when people talk shit about something I love and when they think they're the ultimate source for what's good in music. Everyone's tastes are different just like with games, but it seems to be different for music here. I also tend to get defensive, hence what I had in my sig a few days ago.[/quote]

I also don't try to push my tastes on other people, just give my opinion, unlike how you said I was crazy because I didn't think Blink 182 is a great band. I know, it was just being defensive. I said that I don't really think they're that great, just that when people jump on me when I say I like one group, it pisses me off. THe whole Blink-182 thread was full of people just bashing the group and those that like it, though only a few weren't like that.
 
I'm beginning to think I'm one of the few people on here that truly enjoys Linkin Park. I'll admit to completely hating them when I first heard their stuff on the radio, but I've gotten over it and really like them now. I'm a huge fan of rock and generally despise rap (nothing against those that do enjoy it), but there's something about LP that I can't help but dig.

Evanscence is another one I've seen bashed in this thread that I'm a fan of.

As for who I'd get rid of? Dunno, I rarely listen to the radio these days. But every time I turn on MTV and see Modest Mouse I want to kick every member of that band square in the nuts, and I'm not sure why.
 
Everyone's so serious about music, geez. Don't piss on a band because you think they suck, it's just music: you like it or you don't. You don't have to "kill" or "eliminate" them, just don't listen to them, because there may be people that actually still like those bands.

I for one like Linkin Park, maybe I'm old-fashioned or whatever.
As for the eliminating, not really sure. I'm not a big fan of rap, though.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Linkin Park and I really like their last three albums. I'd listen to them more often if I didn't have many other CD's, too.

Didn't their first album come out in 2000? That's not "old" by any stretch, but I can maybe see what you are saying. It seems maybe the hype has worn off for alot of people cause I remember they were huge when they first broke out. I never did like them though.

Well, I'm talking about Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora. I don't really consider the Jay-Z album to be there's all that much, and I haven't listened to Live in Texas yet since I've never actually be interested in getting it.

About hat IQ thing, thats wrong... I like rap and I took the SATS 3 years earlier than I was supposed to and I get 1250... better than what half the 11th graders were getting!!

I would take out g-unit.

I looked over your list and agree except for Lil Jon. Yes He shouldn't rap, but the beats are good.
