It's the OT. You'll get over it.

And, for posterity, agreed with the rabbit.

Busted.

ah nice. Didnt know they had a new album out.
Rocked out to Mother Earth back when that came out - though they sound a lot different now.

I heard Within Temptation for the first time when I saw them with Lacuna Coil in May. I was pretty impressed and eventually bought The Heart of Everything off of Amazon. I plan to get some of their other stuff too.

FYI, "What Have You Done" features a guest appearance by Keith Caputo (Life of Agony), he's the male vocalist in the song. The other songs just have Sharon den Adel on the vocals. Oh yeah, she's hot:

You could have gone with a better band like Lunatica or Inkubus Sukkubus (and its not like Evanescence isn't ripping off Inkubus Sukkubus).

Within Temptation isn't bad but you picked a horrible song to show people.
Or you could check out a decent band like the Kidneythieves who mastered this whole watered down mall-goth-metal thing years ago:

Kidneythieves rock, I remember them opening for KMFDM and they torn down the house before the headliner got on stage. I also think Free Dominguez's solo album is great as long as its taken as a seprate enitiy (really cool South Western style country/folk)

I don't think I knew she did a solo disc...I'll have to track it down. Thanks for the tip.

I'm pretty sure I saw that show on about 4 seperate stops. KMFDM with PIG, 16 Volt, and the Kidneythieves. Amazing.

Yep, that was the show. Me and my friend Lucas stood there with our mouths open as Kidneythieves played, they utterly blew us away. Though KMFDM rocked, Kidneythieves is the band that sticks in our brains. Really cool band, they got stoked I hit their stand and dropped about $100. Very gracious though I might have spooked Free as I hit on her hardtime (can you blame me:D) as they signed the stuff I bought.

Her solo album is great though it got slammed quite hard as it wasn't something that people expected (its no where near the sound of Kidneythieves). You really have to take it for what it is and IMO, its a great showcase for her voice and range. Sadly I bought the reviews and I didn't check it out till about month ago on whim and it makes me regret not listening to it sooner.

Oh, her album is called Freedoming

edit: And I like Inkubus Sukkubus though they are Wiccan rather than Gothic (I'm not into that culture but I've been told by a writer friend who is a big name in the Gothic lit area). Lunatica is good but some of their stuff tends to blend together
Apparently I still suck at life for liking something other people may not.
huh?

and really, what makes you think you should give two shits about what people think of the music you listen to? I've got an odd taste, beyond hip hop, I like female singers. Now, will I make fun of shitty bands? Yeah but I never really rip on the listener unless they say something really fucking dumb

I figured if I was gonna get shit on for Within Temptation Id get shit on for Nightwish too.

Granted I dont know what the new Nightwish sounds like but Ill be seeing them in November assuming the SA Tx date is still a go.

I don't have an issue with you, I just think Evanescence (and, by extension, Within Temptation) is crap. I have rediculously odd taste in music, it doesn't mean I suck at life.

Unless it's your band I'm criticizing you should learn to be a little more thick-skinned about shit like this.

Youre right. I should expect people to come in and crap on something I like. Its not so much that as it is when theres a thread, say dedicated to a group or band I dont like, I dont fucking bother with it. Too bad others cant do the same and let those that enjoy it, enjoy it.

stop comparing lacuna coil -within temptation to that mediocre band evanecense, those two band have been round much longer than that ugly chic amym and these bands play at least some decent music not unlike evanecense.......

*sigh*

The reason I use evanescence is its a way to give an idea to those who havent heard Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation.

While they may have been around and doing it longer, not as many U.S. folk know who they are vs evanescence. As far as evanescence goes, I liked their first album but didnt care for the 2nd.
