I got the Hyper World Champion (Complete single-player arcade mode without losing a match.) achievement last night. I'm suprised out how achievements can make even and old game exciting in a new way. I lost an early round to E. Honda (I think he was the 4th fight) and then I was flawless into the Bison match. Bison match round 1 Double K.O.!!! I won the next round and then lost the 2nd. Final match down to the wire (health wise) but I prevailed. It was nerve racking and tense but a lot of fun. I didn't think I was all that into achievements but when you're trying to obtain something it makes it more fun. It's also pretty great when a random achievement pops up.

So I now have 170 of the 200 achievement points for Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting. I just need the:

Perfect World Champion
Complete single-player arcade mode without losing a round.

I'm not sure I'll obtain it but I'm sure I'll have fun trying.

I was all about achievements at first, but now I don't really bother unless they are really fun and unique (Dead Rising and Crackdown come to mind)

However, I still have friends at school trying to compete with each other's gamerscores

Yeah, it took me a lot of tries but I finally finished off SFII. That and Geo Wars are my proudest 100% achievements.

Achievements to me have never been about the overall pointscore (gamerscore) associated with them, as that's a meaningless total to swing your e-penis around. I've got a friend with over 40,000 gamerscore, but he plays crap like Open Season and Meet the Robinsons just for the points.

I enjoy going for achievements in some games, but for the medals themselves, for the bragging rights of saying "BOOYA, NO MATCHES LOST IN STREET FIGHTER!!!"

I mean, that just feels good, and it's something that you can prove to your friends (as opposed to the old method of telling / lying to them about it). :p

I'm proud of my 200 in Marble Blast and Assault Heroes (Lair Slayer isn't impossible, but it can be pretty hard).

Congrats on pulling it off...I just got SF II and Doom recently and have been enjoying both thoroughly. I'd forgotten how much fun and how tough Doom can be...and I probably never would've bothered with Ultra-Violent mode if I hadn't realized there was an achievement for it. It actually encourages me to try the harder difficulty and I'm excited by the challenge.

Wow, congrats! I couldn't get that much in SFII if my life depended on it. I have no skill whatsoever.
BTW, for SFII, does it have a deep practice mode? LIke with excercises (DOA4, VF)? I really need to know how to do moves!

I'm not the best a SF, but I spent about 5 hours one night just trying to get the achievement for beating the game on the hardest difficulty. Only made it to about the 4th round after 5 hours.
