I'm bored, let's talk fighters 15th Anniversary Collection!
I'm sure online is still going strong.

But offline, EVO2006 West qualifier(part of the biggest fighting game tournament in the world), only 9 ppl entered DOA4. Kinda sad. I think the most people I've seen enter in a DOA Major event was around 30.
Jeese... 9 people? Looks like it probably won't be making an appearance next year...

out of curiosity, how was the competition for Guilty Gear looking?

^^^^

The GGXX Slash team tourney brought in a lot of people. Ever since EVO started including GG in the tournament lineup it has always had a strong showing.

Looks like a glitch in ganryu's hit flash animation... I guess he is powered by mighty blocks!

Supposedly it happens with all characters.

I noticed it only happens on moves that have the 'splash' effect.

Ex. Ganryu's 1+2,1+2, CH WS+2, b+2, etc.

Awesome, I hope they fix that before the US release, but there is probably no time.

How the hell do you miss something like that? Did they not even test the game?

What are the circumstances to get it to happen? I can't imagine that it's all Dojo mode fights....

 I can only imagine how crazy the unbblockables look, now that I think about it.
I'm getting a 360 in the comming weeks for the same exact reasons as you (plus Dead Rising... and DoAX2, but everyone here know that already).
theres still enough of a following to warrant a purchase, especially considering the slim pickings of non-sport/racing titles on the system. If youre ever up for a game of DOA4, its not my favorite game on the system but im always willing to play somone from this thread. It would be easy for us to get a game going with multiplt people too considering the tournament style of play on Live

I'd definitely be up for doing some DoA4 sometime with anyone who wants to play. I'm not great though, so don't expect the best match out of me.

And as far as my whole PS2 importing thing, I think I'm gonna go with a slide card. The fact that I don't have to open up my PS2 is a plus to me, as I don't have to void the warranty. I'll prolly order one sometime tonight.

Awesome... I'll take it into consideration. I kinda want to get a HDTV as well. You think there will always be a good group of people playing, considering that it's the only fighter on Live right now and for awhile in the future?

I loved DoA, but none of my friends did, so online play is a big part of me getting it.

I'm planning on getting SFII as well when it hits live (August 2nd from most recent sources).

I too am now considering getting a HDTV... I've been playing on my Commodre 64 screen for too long... It shows how damn durable it is for lasting this long and still being in relativly good shape.

There will be, people love DOA. I mean, people still play Ultimate, even though 4 is out. I'm sure there will be people playing frequently until 5 is out (if it even comes out, I remember Itagaki saying he wouldn't make it for some reason)

And yeah, I'd be down for some DOA4, if you guys wanna meet online and play sometime. Just lmk when.

Will do, give me a few days to dump a large part of my collection and i'm 90% sure I want a 360, because it just seems fun... people play it because it's fun, not because "omg the games are rare" and other dumb reasons.

oh wow... I just remembered a horrible game my friend was obsessed with:

Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi

star_wars__masters_of_teras_kasi.jpg

it's actually a fun little title, but broken. Plus you can't lose with a game that has a character named "Hore".

Iron Fist Style... Teras Kasi :)

That game was fun when it came out.

Word to the wise. If you got a shitload of crap in your room. Clean it sooner than later. I'm dying here trying to move my boxes and boxes of gaming crap.

Grrr.

Yeah, I know that random cleaning helps in the long run. I actually spent half a week non stop stuffing about 1/3 of my room into boxes. I am very glad did now since it feels less pack rat-ish and very clean even when I make a huge mess.

this is possibly worth a read:

hurray for feces jokes

someone mentioned ehrgeiz? i tried playing it recently... it's really weird, i just don't like the running system. still, godhand has like all of the mishima moves... even a nice mist step~WGF =P
I don't even know what the fuck was going on here...

Just so everyone knows, this series was actually released by ADV Films.
It's been released in 2 volumes, each 286 minutes in length.
Picture of volume 1:
DFG001_C.jpg
I'd check back when ADV has their 75% OFF sales, this title is practically ALWAYS 6.00 a volume during those sales. Don't have it myself, but I love Street Fighter, and could always use some corny fun.
Check it out at ADV's site: www.advfilms.com

not surprising. you're right-- online is very active, but no one really wants to travel to play it, aside from a pretty small group of people.

I didn't know all you guys had the game. lets get a room going!

Possum, shoot me a PM if you really do end up going on. We need to settle the score... despite the fact that I have no idea how to play anymore...
I may have to re-aquire DOA4 with all this talk of a thread battle.

Is that statue still available anywhere? I seriously want to buy that.
I need a 360 first ;)
At least when you and I pick up a 360, it'll probably be around the same time... we could host the first official unofficial DoA4 CAG tourney

Awesome ;)

DoA 4 will be the only game I'll have for awhile, that and Ninja Gaiden Black, no need for anything else I think.

I gotta hit up some Sears and see if they still sell NGB for $15.

For me it'll be almost the same... at least a week after that I'll have dead rising as well.

Will do, it'll be soon...what are we, 43/43? sumthin like that. ah, and that statue is widely available, I think. it was all over ebay last time I checked (months ago) and I think it's on play-asia too.

there's also these sweet Ninja Gaiden figures...

and these are almost all gone (they looked "hingey" anyway)
Anyone still play Guilty Gear X2 on the Xbox? There is never anyone on, I suck, but it would be fun to play some CAGers.
GGXX is my favorite fighting game and I'm damn good at it too... but I will never play it on Xbox Live. The community is dead and there's a delay when you enter moves... so basically, the online mode is worthless... which is sad.

guys if youre getting a 360, please get an HDTV its like night and day. Sony has a bitchin 30 inch for only 700.

as far as GGXX goes, i go on every so often to see if anyone is on but alas. It wasnt to popular when it came out anyway

Ah well, I can't find anyone around here that plays Guilty Gear, it's always been one of my favorites.

 well, I'll have a 360 before I get a HDTV... I won't be able to afford a TV till a few weeks after I get a 360, but I want something that lasts when I get one.

My main character is aba in slash but since she's absent in #r I play bridget. btw only person I ever play is pignuttz so it'll be good to play different people.

Edit: Anyone still play SFAC on xbox? I need someone to give my Hugo a good spanking:bomb:

Daigo is on the right side... his Balrog is fucking INSANE.

Evo 2k3... Justin Wong gets his ass handed to him.

Justin Wong pulls out a perfect.

^^^ I was there live for all of those matches. Awesome stuff. The crowd went nuts when Daigo did that Rog combo.

He'll be back again this year at Vegas. Can't wait to see the crazy stuff goin down this year.

An amazing match from the first and ONLY major Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection tournament in the US. Japan's Mishimastar vs Southern California's chetchetty.

Oh yea, opening sequence for Super Dragonball Z(Chou Dragonball Z) from Namco. Was released in arcades and just came out on PS2 recently with new stages/characters.

The game was developed by some of the original heads on the SF II team, who also worked on Alpha series and III series.

Check it out:

Fun game. :)

Now this DBZ game actually seems interesting. Gamespot said that the game was radically different from the other games in the series which is a good thing and considering that the people who worked on this also created other legitimate fighters, I really hope this turns out as well as it should.

The game has been out in the arcade for awhile now. It's fun and easy to get into. It ran off the system 256 Namco hardware(same as Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: DR). It used the same IC card system in T5/T5DR and VF games.

It's filled with fast paced action and a unique combo system. There are some match vids too, check this one out:

Chi Chi and Android No. 18 seem to be the most fun chars for me. Ain't it cool Chi Chi is equipped with Kinto'un, Nyoi-bo, and the Bansho fan? lol.

That's amazing. The video is awesome and the fact that this got an arcade release means that there was probably a lot more effort that went into this game than with past entries. Changing the developers really seems to have made a huge difference. I'm all but completely sold on this now and I just need to find out if the US version only has the dub cast or if it has a Japanese option as well...

It does look pretty cool, I might pick it up when I have some money.

Now if only they would release a good Naruto fighting game, and I would be one happy person.

I'd just wait on Super DBZ... Atari is notorious for slashing the prices of DBZ games incredibly fast, and with Tenkaichi 2 around the corner Super DBZ will see a price cut in no time.

Hell, I'd say it drops price before the end of summer.

Super Dragonball Z looks fun, but I may wait for reviews on that one.

also can anyone recommend any good lesser known fighters? import-wise for the PS2? is Rumble Fish any good?

I ended up unlocking one final rank in Tekken: Dark Resurrection(PSP), after Tekken Lord Black(final rank on arcade version), there's God of Fist. :)

I never liked DB or DBZ one bit and still dont, but I always have had a blast playing the SNES fighters for the series. If this one is any good I may get it strictly for the fighting.
