I'm getting screwed over by some jerk on eBay.

So I sold a lot of comics on eBay, and the guy won them contacted me after he received the item and said he only got about half of the collection (which is impossible, I double checked to make sure I didn't miss a single issue.) He then asked for a refund or for me to send more stuff to make up for the "missing" comics. I told him that I couldn't do that, and that it was impossible for me to have missed sending out anything. I said that it must have been tampered with when shipping, or something to that effect. I never accused him of anything. Well a week or two goes by, and I hear nothing from him. Then, I sign onto eBay today, and I have a big fat negative feedback! I already have one negative from some dousche I dealt with in the past, so this really sucks. I feel like people will be holding back on bidding and I had planned to just sell a bunch of stuff to get money for 360 (Castlevania: Dracula X, Samba De Amigo w/ Maracas complete, a ton of ps1/DC complete games, my DS). This really really sucks. Anyone know if I can get that feedback removed from my account in any way?

Feedback is pretty much forever. Unless the guy has a change of heart and you two agree to remove it mutually, youre stuck.

As far as what to leave for him, be professional. State all was shipped. Claims lost in transit. Never filed with USPS for the loss. Or something to that effect. Just make it clear you did your part and hes trying to scam you but dont make it look vendictive. Just the facts. Buyers says 1/2 lost in mail but wont file claim with USPS.

Oddly enough, it seems like a lot of people have trouble with transactions involving comics on eBay.

You can get that feedback removed, if you and the seller have a mutual agreement to withdraw that feedback.

No, its everything. You just happen to know people who sell comics. Ebay is full of chargebacks and crap. People got screwed themselves once so the dishonest know how the system works and now use it to their advantage.

You can comment on the feedback. Your comment will appear under the actual feedback.

Post that in your comment and his feedback -- but in his feedback, mention that he tried screwing you over.

What's his feedback look like, by the way? And the feedback he leaves for others? If this guy is a one-note song, point that out in the feedback and to eBay.

That's true. I've had great luck with eBay, though.

Oddly enough, the dead guy that I left negative feedback for had a history of screwing over people who bid on his auctions for comics.

Don't worry about it. Just reply to the negative feedback. It's certainly NOT the end of your Ebay selling days :)

Ebay has been around long enough now that most dishonest people have found the holes in the system. Yes you can some times make good money selling things, but it is still better to try and trade your items with someone.

Be nice about responding, do not accuse him of scamming. Do not be aggressive in any way in the feedback response.

But I think it's the clientelle, my father deals in antiques and other things which appeal to an older audience, and he's never had a chargeback or an attempted chargeback with over 1500 items sold. I've had 1 chargeback and about 5 or 6 attempted chargebacks with about 600 sold. Now, that's not to say he doesn't get a ton of rude or idiotic people, just not many outright crooks.

It depends on your goal. If you're just selling one item and want something within that value range, then it may be better. But, if you're selling many items, it's best to go with ebay. You'll get actual cash, it won't take as long, and you're less likely to be screwed.

You could go to squaretrade.com and file with them. They'll charge you $20 to remove the feedback but they can get it done most of the time. If the guy doesn't bother responding, they will just remove it as well. So that's another option if you think that negative is going to hurt you that much.

I never had any problems with eBay until a few months ago when I won a PSP off eBay and couldn't get my money back for a month. The guy I won it from didn't know how to spell, rarely responded to my emails, only responded when I called him, and made up promises he never kept.
If you're really bored, you can read about my adventure here.

Never had a horrible buyer, though. I would think those would get real annoying if they take your item and then get a chargeback, leaving you with no money and no item.

Squaretrade is an ebay company just out there to screw more people out of more of their money. I've been using Ebay for 5 years. Ebay + Paypal + Squaretrade are all in it together, are all out for only one thing, and don't care about their customers at all.

I stopped accepting Paypal in my auctions because the fees are so ridiculous.

I was screwed over on ebay once, the person outright didn't send the item to me and a bunch of other people. Paypal said the BUYER PROTECTION didn't qualify for that because the scammer closed his paypal account out and took all the money. Ridiculous companies..

The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago. After nine months of anguish, I finally got my money back, but I will never have anything to do with Ebay, PayPal, etc. ever again. They don't give a damn about their customers.

If he used foul language in the feedback you may be able to have eBay remove it.

Paste what he left in here and maybe someone will come up with an angle you can argue with eBay to have it removed.

If he didn't you're probably SOL unless he will agree to a mutual withdraw (as has been mentioned.)

I was screwed on eBay once, but really it was my own fault for not being observant.

Not-so-long story short, I bought a bootleg Advance Wars 2 from someone in Hongkong. I totally should have known, but I didn't. Refunding it would be a waste of shipping money since it was so cheap, so I'm stuck with it yet can't do too much.

So if anyone's interested... ;)

Screwed out of $10 is no big deal though. And technically the game still probably worked...if only for a few months.

I've been screwed out of about $200 (3 transactions out of ~270) since I started using ebay. No too bad considering all the people who get ripped off on computer parts. Paypal does indeed suck and I would love to see ebay go under but sadly they are here to stay forever.

Thanks for all the help guys. I only have about 20 feedback so far, so this one and the 1 that I mentioned before are really hurting me. His post is really proper, he wasn't irate or anything, a smart ripper, I suppose. I don't really know what to do, it's pretty craptastic. I'm just I'm just SOL, because I'd have a feeling he would respond to the email as far as "buyer won't communicate" and I don't really feel like paying 20 dollars.

UGH.

Thanks though, guys.

I think I read somewhere you can turn those into regular flash carts for homebrew stuff. You're going to need the cable to connect it to your PC though.

I'm definitely going to look into it. That would be sweet. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: After looking into it, it seems I need to identify the exact model to buy the accompanying compatible cable. Unfortunately, all I have to go off of are cart shots that are mildly see-through. I took mine apart and narrowed it down to two, but can't figure it out.

It's a good idea, but I'll need to investimigate a bit more.
