Well I know this is kind of a stupid question but I'm in a bad situation. Well I turned 18 a week ago and I've been out looking for jobs. I put in a lot of applications and finally got called back. I got called back for a job at a lumber company saying I had the job if I wanted it. I also might have a job at Sears, which is the better job (make a little more money and better hours). The thing is Sears does drug screening. I haven't smoked any weed in about 2 weeks but I'm afraid if I take the job at Sears I might fail the drug test and not get the job. The lumber company however doesn't give drug tests, but I need to let them know if I want the job yet. If I try to go to Sears and end up failing the drug test then it will be too late to take the other job so I'd end up losing both jobs. My question is how long does weed stay in the body. I have heard everything from 3 days to 2 months. I am only about 6 foot and weigh 150 and I've heard if you're skinny it gets out of you quicker. Does anyone know the true answer to how long weed stays in the body?
 
Bad news - if it's just a pee test, you *might* be Ok but probably not. Traces of weed stay in your hair until it grows out though so you might want to shave your head.
 
To be safe, assume that it stays in your system for 2 months. HOWEVER, if you go to a head shop, you can probably find a detox kit. Works quick and it's guarnteed. If you don't want to go through the trouble, take the sure thing.
 
30 days if you are a regular smoker, If it is just a piss test just drink alot of water gallons it cleans you out. If it is hair test your screwed.
 
Um...if you are a heavy user the longest it will remain in your system is a month. That is only for urine though, but I don't know of any companies that use hair. You don't need to buy a detox kit, just run a lot and drink (water preferably) a lot. It will help get the THC out of your system.
 
Well I'd say I've probably drank a total of 5-10 gallons since the last time I've smoked. I'm pretty sure its a piss test because I think the hair tests are more expensive. Would a place like GNC have the detox kit?
 
Seriously, don't worry about the detox kit. From what I have heard, they just make you sweat a lot. And you can do that for free.
 
detox kits arent always that great, some can be detected, hence making you fail the drug test automatically... if you're only an occasional smoker, 2 weeks should be fine, just drink lots of water and make sure you're not using the first piss of the day, its always the dirtiest. worst possible scenario is if you fail the drug test for sears you can retake the test in a week, i know people that have done it
 
The detox kit is guarnteed, but they can still pick up the supplment that covers the thc up. They still will not hire you for the traces of the detox. Dont worry just do the water.
 
Hmm I hope you guys are right. I'm a pretty "light" smoker but I had smoked quite a bit previous to the 2 weeks ago. Probably 10 or more times. I do however drink MINIMUM 64 oz of water a day but usually a lot more than that, and I'm skinny so I hope I'll be alright.
 
You should probably ask Sears if it is a urine test or a hair test. :shock: (Hey, somebody might fall for that). If you want to try to sweat it out of your system, DDR.
 
Well If i go in and find out its a hair test then I would still have time to just work at the lumber yard. The only problem with the urine test is I wouldnt know if Id pass it or not so I'd have to wait on the results.

Yeah that's a light smoker. My former roommate smokes about 10 times a day.
 
I'm not judging cause I have no problem with pot smokers, but I say you smoked the pot, deal with the consequences. In this case, that seems to be having to take the "lesser" job.

Sucks, but that's life I suppose. Hell, it could be worse.
 
You can always take a eyedrop thing and fill it with bleach and then drop a drop...most places dont test for bleach...so youll be good
 
buy some Urinluck.. shit that comes in a tiny eyedrop sized bottle, you put some in your piss and it cleans it. JENGA!

(this might be something that some people sell in my town lol i dunno)
 
i thought bleach was just urban myth?
just drink water, take vitamins, make it the 2nd or 3rd pee of that morning... just dont drink too much that day or your pee will be so clear they'll know you've been drinking water like a fiend and turn you down
 
Go to your local head shop and get some stat 1 hour emergency flush. For my size I got 2 bottles. Call the 800 number. They should tell you to drink X amout of water, take a vitamin with b comples and X amout of milk. Vitamin puts color in your piss, milk puts protein in. It worked for me.

I agree. You should just be lucky the lumber yard will hire you. I personally hope both jobs test you, but I just have a thing against stoners.
 
Oh I'm not saying its anyone elses fault but my own. I got high now I'm paying the price =). I do think I'll be ok with the water though because I drink more than anyone else I know and I'm also a stick. Since tomorrow is friday and I told the lumber yard if I took the job I could work Monday I might have time to still take it even if I fail the drug test. I don't think Sears would put me through the orentation and stuff if I failed the test.

If you fail, they usually tell you in a coupla days. They also have to give you a copy of the results.
 
I think it's dumb for companys to give drug test's anyways. They only show that the person has smoked in the past, it doesn't mean they are high at the time. I think the only way someone should be tested is if they are suspected of being messed up on the job and it is affecting their performance.
 
well if you failed the test, that tells them that you do drugs period.. whether you just quit or not, they dont want druggies working for em.
 
sounds like you are not that heavy a smoker. you'll be fine. do the water thing everyone else said. my buddy was a hard smoker and had to take piss tests every month for probation. he would quit 3 days before and take a bunch of niacin. worked for him. not that he wasn't crazy, but if it worked for him it will probably work for you.

you could take the lumberyard job then quit if sears offers :)

That's why any job where you make any real money or have any real responsibility makes you take a hair test.

Household bleach has a PH of 11,

Urine is acidic, thanks to Uric acid

So, with the PH of Uric acid being 5, the PH of water being 7, and the PH of bleach being 11, a mixture of these compounds will obviously be skewed, and the tampering will be blatantly obvious.

I don't. They put thier faith in you, and in many cases trust you with sensitive information. Not only that, but you end up as an investment of time and money into you to be sure you have the skillsets required to do the job. Argue it all you want, but on the whole, drug users will be less dependable than thier non-using counterparts (if only because the habits of the non-users are less likely to get them incarcarated.).

If I were hiring people, and knew for a fact that one person used drugs and the other didn't, the drug user would have to be at least twice as qualified than the non-user to even make me consider hiring them.

yes health food stores carry them even if you shave your head the will find another place to take hair and if you shave it all no job for you.
I would take the job at the lumber company sears you never know how long it is before they fire you retail stores hire and fire alot. I would go with the lumber company.

Who wants to work at Sears? Take the lumberjack job for the short term, go to college and then get a job that you don't have to do any manual labor after you graduate. Trust me, I worked manual labor, found out it sucked major ass and went back to college. My life has been GREATLY improved...

So unless you actually want to work menial jobs the rest of your life, be a migrant worker, or start your own business, it sucks to be you.

What are you babbling about? Any white collar job will require a drug test? My wife has a white collar job, no drug test. I work at the university that I attend. I have a desk job, I didn't have to take a drug test. Lower middle class slug? Working at Sears will make you a lower middle class slug =/

Please clarify what you mean by migrant worker. Farm worker? WTF are you talking about? I don't know anyone that goes to school to be a migrant worker or menial laborer. Ppl go to school to get away from those jobs...

Most higher up positions don't require a drug test actually. But then again I severly doubt too many executive level positions have to worry about stoners.

They're much more likely to put you through psychological analysis and hard-core background checks than drug testing you.

I'd bet 90% of the drug tested jobs are in the middle and high level blue collar jobs and the entry level white collar jobs.
 
Actually, you're right Big Nick...they do, especially those where your job puts you in a customer facing position or in touch with money.

Before anyone gets any ideas, I don't think people are bad/evil/etc because they use drugs, but when people get all uppity about the requirement employers place it kinds of pisses me off...

don't you love it when you have to take a UA for a company and when you get in you find out everybody there is a junkie or pothead? welcome to middle america.
 
Well guys I went in today and as expected I was hired. Decent amount of pay too, its $7 and hour + 2.3% commission. I will be working in electronics. I had to go and do the drug test though. As long as that goes well then I got the job :)
