I went into this local store called Bettymae's Video. This old guy named it after his mom when she passed away, and he only has old things. He's not big-time by any means, as what he normally does is just rents copies out to people that he bought. A tradesman by nature, he will usually accept anything he thinks he can sell when a profit is to be made
With that said, I went over there and tried to offer him some old cassette tapes (around 46 or so, still in packages) I had won at an auction so he could sell them in his store. I said that they were free, even though they were suckass artists (such as Carmen Electra), but he humbly declined my offer.
I thought I'd take a look around, even though I wasn't able to stay for very long. We ordered some pizzas and I was on my way to pick them up. Anyways, I was strolling along the VHS tapes when I noticed two big boxes full of video game cases.
In searching, I found these games:
Yoshi's Story (mint WITH cartridge wrapper, just needed a seal to look brand new)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (mint, box was untouched)
Megaman X2 (I know!@#@ mint)
Megaman X3
I didn't look much further than this. He is NOTORIOUS for his "$2 each, buy 2 get 2" combo deals on VHS tapes. I figure $4 for all of those wasn't a bad deal. When I asked him if he was selling his games, he said that "yes, eventually [he] will." I quickly asked about the games I just mentioned. He looked on a list, and found that they were "on reserve". I cursed and walked out.
This is why I figure myself as being retarded
Nobody here actually collects games. At WalMart, I've heard many a person exclaim, "What happened to all of the Nintendo 64 games?" This isn't exactly what you'd call a civilized town. All I can imagine is some country hick playing some pristine games that should be mine, then tossing them aside in such a wanton manner that it would make you nauseous.
Should I have made him an offer he couldn't have refused? Should I go back there tomorrow, shoplift some games (no security in the store) and walk out? Or should I bow down and take this like a man, even though two of the games I've been wanting forever are right here? What should I do?
