I'm surprised that a few big releases are out this week and nobody has mentioned them on here. Killzone and GTA are both out ... if anyone has impressions bring 'em to the table.

I'm hoping to get Killzone hopefully soon, it has gotten pretty good reviews so far from most places.
It's holding 80% at gamerankings: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/931635.asp

As for GTA...its $50, I'm sorry, but fuck that. I'll wait until I can get it for ~$35 like I did with LCS. No handheld game should be $50, I don't care that it's GTA, it should have been $40.

I'm surprised Killzone is around 80%. I played the demo and the whole aiming mechanic seemed a bit off. I think game informer gave it in the 7 range which seems a little more accurate. The game did have some nice graphics and getting killed looked really good but I also felt as if the graphics were blurry at times. Based on the demo I think I would only pick it up at $20 if ever.

I picked up GTA today and played the first mission. It's going to take about an hour for the GTA feel to sink in, but it's definately Vice City goodness.

As for Killzone, I thought about picking it up as I have $37.00 left on a BB Gift Card, but it seems every review makes note of how short it is. Granted the MP portion sounds cool, but I thought it was still only 6 person and the infrastructure mode isn't in place yet.

I think I'm going to hold onto the card for MGS:portable Ops.

All my money has been going towards 360 games with the FYE deal(that ends today :whistle2:()

Besides that though, ive learned my lesson. Im not gonna pay $50 for vice city so they can release it on ps2 for $20 a few months from now. I had a ton of fun with LCS though and that multiplayer shall keep me fine until VCS is cheap

Well isn't the point that it's portable? I do agree that it's too expensive at $50 (or even at $40). That's why I'm glad I got it for about $30 through Gamefly and Google Checkout. :D

By the way, is the killzone demo downloadable or was it something you had to get in the mail?
2.82
That's an incorrect statement, I have 2.81 and am running it. I would suspect it's 2.80 or 2.81.
I heard that VCS lost some of the GTA humor/personality... if so, I may pass since the storyline is where I find most of my joy from n the GTA games.
I haven't played VCS yet, but I thought Liberty City Stories did suffer in terms of the writing/story. It seems like they farmed out the development of the PSP version to Rockstar Leeds, and they didn't quite nail the whole GTA feel (not to mention the fact that they included a number of glaring Britishisms).

But having a portable GTA is still great. I still like LCS pretty well for that reason.
2.81, my bad. For some reason, I was convinced it installed 2.82 on my PSP. Is there even a 2.82?
Not a problem. Yes, 2.82 is out but doesn't really offer any convincing reason to update at this point.

GTA is fun at this point (about an hour in) but there's the standard fare of GTA issues ... popups, loading, melee combat. The city does seem to be more populated, but for the first few missions you're kept to a basic area of the city (which, for those who played the original is the South Western tip of the city around the airbase and loading docks). I'm gonna have to pull out my map from the original and see what they did with the layout, but something's amiss with "Little Haiti", it seems they've extended the airbase really far north.

Either way, it looks like there's quite a bit to do in this one package. From my understanding there's about 15 hours worth of story missions which doesn't seem like alot, but then again I've read where someone said they took 14 hours to complete the story in San Andreas (which took me MONTHS). I know people bitch about the $50 price tag, but from a gaming standpoint you're getting as much, if not more, play time out of this than some of the newer games that have come out (MOH, Gun, Ace Combat, etc) for a few more duckies (save $5 using the GGC). Not to mention the "sandbox" environment is pretty sweet.

I'm happy with my purchase, that's all that matters to me.

actually, I still beleive LCS had the best story really. Best cast of characters and main protagonist... no other GTA story compares really for me.

Well... You'll probably like VCS then, although I can't agree with you.
