I'm thinking about becoming a WoW player. Please help me.

Hmm, I just got a new computer this past week, and picked up WOW, but I haven't played it yet. I just want to see what all of the hype is about. I don't see myself getting addicted to it though, since I don't have an addictive personality and the $15/month thing really bugs me. I can easily afford it, but paying to play games online sucks.

We'll see how I feel a month from now though after the free trial is up. I really don't see myself playing for more than maybe 2 months.

I don't understand why anyone thinks you have to play for 10 hours a day. I guess it's the "all you can eat buffet" mentality, where you supposedly aren't "getting your money's worth" unless you are there every single spare hour you have.

I think another issue (problem) is with people who have never played immersive games like this. I've been playing MMOGs since the 300 baud days (if you want to consider those type of games MMOGs), so none of this is anything new. But for people who have not learned how to balance it in their lives... it's sometimes a tough lesson.

Like The Tick says, gravity is a harsh mistress.

you know, i have considered getting into this a few times, ive never played a mmorpg but am a bit curious. My only concern would be playing with several hundred 12 year olds(i am 29) and all of the "leet" talk, i would get sick of that so fast

Its not really that bad actually... Well, depending on your guild. Most established guilds are mostly older people who are generally mature. Unfortunately, most established guilds don't want some noob ass.

I bought WOW a bit ago, and I've had fun with it and don't even play it that much. I'm level 15 after like 3 weeks or so of off and on playing, and you can buy the prepaid cards for 22 off amazon I think, so no biggie. I don't get how people play it that much though.
