I'm thinking about getting used games at gamestop.com......

CAGiversary!
I'm thinking about getting used games at gamestop.com......Please fill me in about any potential pitfalls and ways to save money, headaches, etc. Any codes would be nice as well.

They aren't guaranteed a box or manual like at EBGames.com (EB guarantees them for PS2, Xbox, and GCN games). Plus EBGames.com has AFF25, PPLAY15 and SAVER.

I'm not familair with those codes. is it possible to use multiple codes? I'm wanting Smash brothers melee pretty bad but Eb doesn't have used copies in stock. :(

pplay15 and saver can be used together. The games could be scratched. They should play if they dont, you have to exchange them.

and theres also the GS free shipping code "freeshipall" the best thing about EB though is if it doesn't work, you can return it instore.. i dont think GS offers this yet atleast..

gamestop.com has:

25BTS (25% off used games)
3FOR2PO (buy 2 used games or DVDs at $29.99 or more each, get one at $29.99 or less free)

True, but the downside is that they charge tax online. Gamestop.com does exchange online, and they don't charge tax (outside of NY and TX).

I recently ordered used from gamestop.com, only because of the b1g1 deal they ran. I'd never order from them again unless its a good enough deal like that for me to put up with the aggrvation.

No in-store return sucks big time. If they generally gave games in good shape, or always included manuals, it wouldn't be a problem. One of the games I ordered looked like the previous owner was Wolverine. Deep gouges on the top through to the data foil. Though they are paying for return shipping through fedex 2-day. The second game was encrusted with some kind of white stuff, toothpaste maybe, on the top and edges. Though once I cleaned it off it played fine, no scratches, though it didn't come with a manual.

AND GS overcharged my credit card, but CS immediately credited my card when I called, no hassle.

EB has in-store return, so if theres a problem, or if you want a manual or case, you can do that. Most of the used games I've ordered from EB were fine, some had a few scratches, but none were attacked by Wolverine, and none were covered in white shit. Though both stores love to put a ton of stickers on the damn case, EB seems to do that more, though my GS games had their price tags on top of EB stickers.

Prices are typicly similar. Price being equal, I would do EB. GS is running 25% off used temporarily, EB has that permanantly, plus they're doing a b2g1 deal for used.

In short:
Gamestop.com sucks.
Ebgames.com sucks a little less.

If I buy anything used online, I use EB, for the reasons above, but I usually try to wait for BOGO or B2G1 deals at Brick and Mortar

Exactly as stated above. I had to return a game from ebgames.com to a store because the disc had funny spots on it. Would have hated to go through the process of sending it back to them.

Is it true that eb is doing a deal where you can trade in 3 used games for 2 players choice titles? I need to know quickly before I go to work.

It's true, deal runs through tomorrow I think. (I did it myself)

You might have trouble if they don't have any of the flyers with the details in the store.

There was a thread on the main board about it, but I couldn't find it with a few searches. Sorry.

I do know the Player's Choice titles have to be reg priced at $19.99 (says this on the flyer)
