Indie Royale bundles employ a variable pricing model and last about a week. Most start at $3.99 and the price goes up as people pay the minimum, stays the same as people pay slightly above it, and drops with larger purchases. Games are almost all available on the service Desura, which is the company involved in these bundles, with Steam keys and direct downloads available when possible. A bonus album is also available in each bundle for those who pay above a higher minimum.

I'm kinda surprised that a telltale game made it into a bundle. I guess they're indie enough, but I had never considered them as a bundle candidate.

Got me on that. Maybe just PM Utopianmachine. . . .

Sometimes the mods get really picky about not posting trades or sales within these threads. Also, Motoki mentioned that selling Steam keys and keeping the Desura or DRM/Free copy is not adhering to the terms when you buy the bundle so that might be the reason too.
Also, is desura client worth it? Does it eat a lot of resources?
It's not bad on resources, but the layout isn't always the most intuitive. Still, if you are going to get more Indie Royale and/or Indie Gala bundles in the future you might as well install it because they usually come with some Desura games.

It think the layout could use some work but I like it overall. I'd definitely rather have it than not have it.

I kind of get the feeling that in the US these days Adventure games are pretty much considered casual and/or indie. I mean when I see new adventure games coming out at $30 retail most Americans (and I admit I do it a little too) will balk at the price while Europeans, where adventure games are more popular and respected, will say that's cheap.

I guess the Walking Dead is an exception where they pulled off an adventure game that ended up being fairly popular and not necessarily viewed as total indie material, but I also feel like if you put zombies on anything these days it automatically sells. :p

What happened? I noticed that my offer to buy someone's Geneforge key was removed from the trading forum. I thought we were allowed to buy keys from bundles?

I see a bunch of posts were removed here as well.

Hm. I hadn't thought about that. It seems like folks do that all the time here. Oh well. Forewarned is forearmed I suppose.

I'm still seeing your post over there.

Technically, selling keys or arranging group buys outside the trading forum is Verboten. For the longest while we've been able to get away with it, (Perhaps because the mods didn't click on these threads and see what was going on) but lately they're cracking down.

I've decided to only pursue indie games that I absolutely must have instead of buying them all and asking questions later. I hate having an enormous indie backlog of so-so games and a few good ones.

So I'm only in for Geneforge Saga. Thanks, Necrotron!

Not in here like it's some little secret society where the rules don't apply.

And yes, we do go through threads and remove trade-related posts, though last time I checked, there's more threads on here than just this one and just a few people to do said cleanup.

Go make a thread in the Trading Forum, ask a mod to move it into the Master Lists sub-forum and do everything in there after someone sticks a link to it in the OP.

I picked it up as I wanted Puzzle Agent, and after looking the games over found that Geneforge, Unepic, and SWIFT STITCH looked interesting.

On another note: Oh my lord, these bundles happen every two weeks! Wow, my wallet hurts already. Now I'm starting to understand how some of you guys have 500+ collections.
I just talked myself out of the Geneforge Saga during the Steam Sale...lasted a whole two days.:booty:
I'm in the same boat. Passed on it on GOG and Steam, but I'm not passing on this because Puzzle Agent also seems very interesting.

Just rescan for new games on Desura and it added several including The Witcher 2. Now I have it on Steam, Desura, and GOG. woohoo. :applause:

I hadn't heard of Unepic before today but I am really enjoying it so far. Anybody that likes Metroidvania style games should give it a look.

I must remember to do this. I guess you have to keep rescanning every so often with new purchases to add them to Desura.

Had to get up from bed and go ahead and purchase this deal to download Geneforge. I was thinking about getting it for a couple hours but could be 50/50 the type of game for me. Also interested in seeing what Puzzle Agent is like.

I hate how with my schedule I always miss the launches of these things and when I can finally get online to check them out the price is always a buck or two higher. Is there anyway to know the exact day and time these are going to launch? Their countdown at the bottom is pretty vague and is usually always at either 1 week or 2 weeks.

Also, did they do away with the pre-order option?
I'm surprised that there hasn't been a mistaken $800 purchase for this bundle yet.
I'm really hoping for this. Seems that when price starts getting high it always happens.

They used to do pre-orders but I think they stopped a while back. I have no idea what their schedule is. I always end up finding out about it on CAG and rushing in to buy before the price goes up too much.

Their emails are no help because I usually don't get them until like 8 hours or so later after the bundle already started.

There's no way to know the exact day the bundles will launch. They usually launch 2 weeks after the previous bundle started.. but in this case they waited until the Steam summer sale ended. The exact time they launch for the past bunch of bundles they've had has been 10 AM EST so my suggestion is to check at 10 AM 2 weeks after the last bundle started, and keep checking every day after that if it hasn't gone live yet.

I have the same issue with the e-mails, some times I don't even get them on the day it launches...

Too bad they did away with the pre-orders I liked that system. Guess I'll just have to stay up a little later around the 2 week mark from each bundle.

Just curious, anyone know if you sell the Royale Ring in UNepic do you lose it for good or do you get it back when you start a new game?

Lovin the game so far, just wish I could zoom in a little, or I could figure out how to if you can. Its a little hard to see at times playing it on my 65" DLP, I can't imagine it on my 12" laptop. Widescreen support would be nIce too, lose the bottom display panel and it's basically widescreen, could make it auto-hide.

I'm still working on a decent controller config and even as good as its getting I still may need the keyboard nearby later on.

The Indie Royale is a pain in the neck because the sales pop out of nowhere and I just can't pay extra knowing that I missed it when it's cheaper.

For me it goes into a situation where I wait for someone to pay a grand for a bundle, the price will go down, and I'll snatch it up.

I feel the exact same way. I really hate how they do it. I wish they would just set the same price for everyone or at the very least give people an exact time and date when it will launch for cheap.

They'll never go back to the pre-announced start time as long as they continue to stick with the current pricing system. The site would collapse under the strain of all the people trying to get it for $3.99 instead of $4.50.

As for the pre-orders, I'm pretty sure that they did away with them because there were too many people unhappy that the bundles ended up having games that they didn't want or already owned. If you ask me, what they need to do is just bring back the pre-orders, but not have them be blind pre-orders. They should let people know a day or two before the bundle launches (like Groupies does) what games are gonna be in it. So then people can pre-order if they like the games, and Indie Royale doesn't have their website slammed when the bundle goes live.

I suppose that would telegraph the start time of the bundle, but a large chunk of the people who gotta have it for as cheap as possible (myself included) would have already bought the bundle.

The only remaining problem would be that the sales of the games in the bundle would dry up on steam & desura as soon as people knew that they could get the games for cheap in a day or two. But what are we really talking about here? How many copies of Mutant Storm Reloaded or even Puzzle Agent or Geneforge Saga do they sell at full price over a 48 hour period? There'd be some people on the verge of buying who'd hold off, but that number is probably pretty insignificant. I'm sure with a game like Mutant Storm, there are days when they don't sell any copies at all when it's full price.

See I have no problem with blind preorders, what's the worst case scenario? You find games that you're able to give away?

I loved the fact that I didn't have to monitor the site and the threads because IR went all Popeil with set it and forget it.
What's the price of Indie Royale bundles when they irst goes on sale?
Starts at 4

You can see the way the price fluctuates as it goes on if you scroll down the IR page.

It's been a while since I've been able to nab a Royale bundle for under $5. Seems like the price shoots up a lot faster than it used to. I've passed up on several of them partly because I didn't get in early enough. I'm more likely to jump on a bundle I'm iffy about if I can get in while the price is still on the low end.

Yeah I think would also rather blind pre-order @ $4 than get stuck with having to decide if I want to pay $5 plus or wait around and hope some idiot forgets a decimal point.

I know it's not much of a difference between $4 and $5 but somehow when it hits that $5 mark it goes beyond and impulse buy for me and I have to really, really want it. It's dumb, I know. :p

I feel like all the indie games I already wanted have been in past bundles. This is like the 3rd one in a row where I sat it out after buying every single one previously. Although I bought Puzzle Agent a while ago when it was on sale so if you want that, might be an ok bundle if you also want one of the other games.

If you're dumb I'm downright stupid because I have the same mentality.

The second the price goes above 5 I start thinking, 4 and change? don't even think twice.

I've never bought one of these bundles over $5. I'm still waiting for this price to decrease a bit more before I buy

I would agree. On the whole, if it gets over $5, I usually take a pass. There have been a couple of times when I didn't know about a launch until it was well into the mid $5 range only to be saved by a big donation or a mistake with a decimal point. There was only one bundle that I bought when it was over $5 and that was the Alpha Bundle (which launched at $4.99).

I went back and too a look at what I paid for each bundle and I see that there was only one bundle (the launch bundle) that I paid more than $0.20 over the launch price. The prices next to the bundle is what i paid for them.

I must be one of a few people who bought the bundle mainly for the chip tune album, though I am enjoying playing unepic. Also, for anyone who's actually played unepic
did you fall for the shiny treasure trap at the beginning?

I'm usually asleep when it launches, so I have pretty much no chance at the launch price. I usually buy when it's around 50 cents above the starting price.

I'm not sure if this means that Sanctum will be repeated in an upcoming bundle, or if they're actually gonna repeat the whole launch bundle again at some point. I guess it could also be a glitch or something.

I'll let you make of it what you will.

I hope not, I got a copy of Sanctum ages ago for free from IGN Prime.. and got another from the first Indie Royale bundle that I gave away to a friend. I don't want to see it repeated again.

I think they've just common update in the registry, since ALL the Sanctum entries were updated, even the "Holiday Sale 2011 Gift:" and "Winter Sale 2011: Mega Indie Bundle 2011", but I'm sure these two won't be repeated in future.

Yeah, I just saw this discussed further over on SPUF. It looks like that was the general consensus over there as well. I guess I should have waited a bit before passing along the steam registry link. It did seem kinda odd that they'd repeat a game like that.

Oh well, the new bundle might go live sometime today and the thread should be easy to find now.
