This is about the PC version. I was going to put it in the PC forum, but there's like all of four people that visit there, and technically, someone that only plays consoles still could've seen it.. so..

Anyone that talks about games with me knows how high I am on Indigo Prophecy. I think it's one of the best voiced, best plot, best musically scored games of all time (I'm throwing it in my personal top 5 along with Snatcher on Sega CD, Earthbound on SNES, Final Fantasy 2 on SNES and either Illusion of Gaia or Chrono Trigger, both SNES). Me being the CAG I am, I just finally picked it up (after renting it and beating it) this past week for $9.99 used (and i'm aware it was part of the $8.96 sale at CC).

Anyway, on to my point.. This game was originally titled Fahrenheit in the UK.. and pretty much everywhere else.. and along with the name change to Indigo Prophecy, some scenes were cut. They were sex scenes and pretty much added nothing to the plot, but nevertheless, I don't like playing games where items were cut.

I wanted to import it, then I heard about Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Director's Cuthttp://www.direct2drive.com/725/product/Buy-Fahrenheit:-Indigo-Prophecy-Directors-Cut-Download. PC only and rated AO, this is the complete and uncensored version I want. However, the only problem is that I can't find it in stores. I don't think it was released in stores, and I am sure as hell not paying direct2drive.com because I want a physical copy in my hand. I hate paying to download games. Has anyone seen this in stores?

And while we're at it, is the UK version of Indigo Prophecy, Fahrenheit, region locked for the XB or PS2?
Probably, and it would also be the PAL version which is a much bigger problem.
Yeah, I know. I think it might be worth it just from a collector's point to import it.. it shouldn't be more than $25. I was just hoping there'd be a boot disk or something of the sort, sorta like how I played Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast when I imported it from the UK.

Yeah, I definitely know what you are saying, but I wouldn't count on it. I think Dreamcast was unique in that many games had both the 50/60hz versions on the discs and it was just a matter of switching it in software. I'm not sure that any of the "next-gen" (PS2 and beyond) consoles have ever done anything like this. PAL gaming is a BITCH in the USA.

The PC would be a better bet, I mean you could just import the regular version of Farenheit for $25 I would think (pulling this out of my ass) and it would run fine on your PC.

yeah I downloaded the Fahrenheit game a long time ago, I never knew that they cut the sex scenes out for the american version

it's really like maybe 30 seconds worth, and then in the extras theres a 2 minute stripping of that one guy's girlfriend(she strips for him)

The stripping scene is in the American version of the game.

if you have a modded xbox you shouldnt have any problems playing pal games.
no thanks, i'm a collector. I collect XBox games the same way people collect trading cards or DVDs or whatever else people collect. I just hit 107, by the way! Watch out, Shipwreck, only 700 more and i'll be giving you some competition!

There's nothing inherently 'un-collector' about having a modded Xbox. If anything it could enable you to collect games that were never released stateside, like Metal Wolf Chaos or Fahrenheit since it neutralizes region coding, but whatever.

That being said, I've played Fahrenheit and I wouldn't sweat it.

The content that was cut was akward and almost gratuitous IMO.

The big thing is there's a sex scene between the main character and his girlfriend. She comes over, you and you have to artificially woo her through the dialogue/act branches. It adds nothing to the game(they could've used the same limitations other media uses and fade out or some shit) and seemed really out of place to me. I also remember the female cop character showering but I think that was in the US version as well as and I would speculate the climax at the end might have been more graphic but I really doubt it.
Aside from that, most people wouldn't have been able to access it(the cut content) anyways since getting to it isn't very natural in the course of the game(you have to go through very specific steps to get to it).

I do find it funny that they ended up whoring out the main female lead for this really creepy naked 'video game vixens' thing in playboy with a bunch of other third rate characters.

There's no boot disc for PS2 or Xbox like there was for DC. It's a bit more complicated. The PS2 requires swapping either through a forced ejection (aka slide tool), replacement case (fliptop) or soldered in mod chip. The Xbox requires either a softmod or hardware method, both of which are a little complicated compared to a boot disc.

Probably, and it would also be the PAL version which is a much bigger problem.

A lot of European games actually contain a video mode selector.

I totally want to see this. No shame here.

It shouldn't be too hard to find. I googled it just to make sure I wasn't making shit up since it'd been a while and found some blog with pictures of the whole thing. I thought it was creepy as fuck though, the animation in most of them is really cartoony, like some Tex Avery shit or something.

Yeah, I loved this game. Probably my favorite game so far. The story was awesome, and the soundtrack was really good too. Too bad it was pretty much slept on (I think).

Also the guy is supposed to be dead and his body is supposed to be ice cold, I mean what kind of woman wants to have sex with an ice cold zombie man?

I had no idea a director's cut was available for the PC. I still haven't finished the Xbox version but I hate cuts whether it be for sex, violence or anything else, even if it is "minor".
