So I was at Coconuts in Stow OH checking the place out, and saw a sign for a bunch of 14.99 DVDF sets like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Simpsons Season 1, and a few others. However, there were a lot of other DVD sets there like Sopranos seasons, Shield S1 and 24 s1 and 2. THey were all heavily marked down - 24 seasons had a 59.99 original sticker, but the sale sticker said 24.99. So I ask the employee:

Me: So all these DVDs are on sale?
Him: Yes.
Me: 24.99 for 24, that rocks
Him: Thats after rebate
Me: But its not on that rebate list posted on the table
Him: Yeah, but thats how it works
Me: So Sopranos, marked at 99.99 but sale stickered at 39.99, HAS A 60 DOLLAR REBATE?!
Him: Yeah, I think.
Me: Can I see the rebate form?
Him: I dunno where they are.

D'oh! But if they were stickered that way, he might not be totally full of shit, just mistaken about how the sale works. Someone want to go scout out?

You're correct, these deals are running. I saw it at both a wherehouse and an FYE. I didn't bite this week, but the weekly rebates are all very interesting.

Did you see the rebate form? I don't think I've ever seen a fucking $60 rebate for a DVD set.

And if thats the case - it would seem to be a good way to convert store credit to cash, just have to wait 6 weeks for the rebate to show up

I saw this yesterday at the Wherehouse near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. Red tag markdown, and a yellow price tag for further rebate savings.

Sadly, this store didn't know ehere the rebate forms were either. Maybe it's a corporate scam...

Same hear....bought Mystic River at a local store and sent away for the rebate and received letter saying I didn't provide proof. I sent the receipt and the f*cking proof of purchase from the DVD case. Am I the only one that sees how overpriced this store is anyways? F*ck FYE.

I'm starting to feel the same way about them. Not only do their rebates take an extremely long time to return, half the time they get rejected when everything is perfectly in order.
