I received it through my college email and was wondering if anyone else had ever tried it.

OR if anyone has any opinions thinking that it's purely a scam...

it's a scam, I had something similar to that sent to me at college a few years ago. I researched it a bit and it seems that this is a popular ruse to make some quick cash. Sites like this pop up for a few weeks, then disappear once they've worn out their welcome and made their profit.

That's exactly what crossed my mind. I wish some of these things would be real BUT I guess I have to learn that the only way to make money is through hard work....
