I'm in a new music kinda mood, so bring some names. Me personally, I like a lot of "indie" stuff but enjoy almost anything. Try to make them somewhat obscure but pretty easy to find on a P2P.
Tsunami Bomb is one of my best recent finds. They simply shaq-fuing rock.
ditto
KRS1 the only hiphop to listen to.

BTW what genre do you like and this would be better for you and us.
I said I like mostly indie, though I do know that's pretty vague. My roots are in 90's grunge/punk. I flat out don't like any rap after 1990, pop punk, "nu-metal", country. Everything else I can get into.

And yes, KRS1 is very good (albiet ugly).

against me.

start with their acoustic ep, then ease yourself in to the crime ep, and then reinventing axl rose LP or the cavalier eternal LP. if you go straight for the LPs youll hate them.
Indie, yech, get some pure brand ska, check out the toasters and operation ivy.
Heh, I went through a huge ska phase, I saw the toasters live 20 or so times back in the day.

I was about to suggest Gangsta Bitch Barbie. Its not rap metal or "nu-metal" but rather "rap core". They're actually a pretty good band and were around the Boston scene before the whole rap metal thing exploded. When they went national they went by the name Nullset.

toasters was my first show ever, good times ^^

Try Hepcat it is ska/reggae/God knows what but great IMHO.
Dance Hall Crashers great chick lead singer, sorta postpunk ska.
Tom Waits Crazy old man raspy music.
Murder City Devils it is some organ punk, hard great music
I could go on but that is a good start

I remember seeing Gangsta Bitch Barbie at the first New England Hardcore and Metal Festival.

ROCK STAR CLUB!
www.rockstarclub.com

greatest rock band in the world!!!

Also if you haven't heard of 'em (they've been around for a while) try the John Spencer Blues Explosion - they're wacky

Also look up Quintron he's a musicla genius from New Orleans that actualy went as far as inventing his own musical instrument
Joy Drop
I second that. Joy Drop is pretty sweet.

Also, check the Beta Band, specifically a song called "Squares".
And The Polyphonic Spree. Look for Soldier Girl.

damn yeah!
really relaxing song, and good video too. i saw the video on some "My Music Channel" thing.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
Great name, and their album Source Tags & Codes is absolutely awesome. They've also got a new album coming out next week, which I have high hopes for.

Yeah; Tsunami Bombs are good. I also suggest NOFX. As well as Mindless Self Indulgence... I dunno how to describe them. Go to http://mindlesselfindulgence.com/mp3/ for some free downloads of their songs. I reccomend "Bitches" and "Faggot". NOTE: There is no www. before mindlessselfindulgence.com

Yeah, last I heard they broke up. Here's a link to some other Boston bands you might want to check out.

Yeah I really love MSI. They were the last band I got really excited about. Worst lyrics ever, but best front man in a long time. Go figure.

Going through the selections so far. Tsunami Bomb really surprised me, I heard of them and thought they were crappy pop punk, while they have that feel I'm plesantly surprised.

Joy Drop has a great sound and singer, too bad not too much out there.

Porcupine Tree and Against Me, not feeling them.

Here's a few of the more unheard stuff I dig if anyone is looking for some new bands.

Beat Happening
Nothing Painted Blue
Possum Dixon
Moldy Peaches
Sparklehorse

Keep the suggestions coming!

Nice to see another Against Me! fan on the boards. I hated cavalier eternal and eternal cowboy rides on, though...not my stuff. I highly recommend The Unicorns or The Killers if you like indie, they rock out like it's nobody's business.

Did you get their new unreleased stuff? It was a stolen demo or something... it is awesome, way better than cavalier eternal. It gives hope for the future.

If you want IMO the best of Tsunami bomb, give "Swimming Through Molasses" and "Dawn on a Funeral Day" a go. Great fucking songs, both of em.

this thread is also helping me broaden my tastes.

the only stuff of theirs i dont like is their old demo stuff and the self titled lp, but thats because i cant get past the poor quality of either. their new stolen demo is amazing tho!

YES!!

I heard two unreleast LPs, I think they were super early (one of them they used like trash cans for drums)---Vivada Vis and what's called the 12" EP...they're both AMAZING if you can look past the quality of recording, I think a few of the songs are their best.
