Introduce me to a new band

You damn kids and your music. Just get "Brown Shoes don't Make It" by Frank Zappa. An almost 8 minute operetta about how having a good job/being well off doesn't make you a good person.
hmm

how about a 80s band called Caterwaul

they have a great album called Porent Hue...I was just listening to it
Holy Shit! I can't believe someone else here is familiar with this band! The lp previous to Portent Hue was called Pin and Web, and has a FANTASTIC tune on it called The Sheeps a Wolf!

Also, I'm digging heavily on The Appleseed Cast right now...

And this afternoon I've been listening to The Magnetic Fields - 100,000 Fireflies on repeat.

Great thread

I have Pin and Web as well but Portent Hue was a better album as a whole and better production.

They had a minor hit back in the 80s with "Manna and Quail"...personally I like the whole album. The album had production from David Ogilvie from Skinny Puppy, Pigface and other industrial bands as a colloborator. But don't be fooled...Caterwaul is NOT industrial music. It is just simply 80s new wave, indie, or college rock.

I suggest at least one listen to the full album for most people. I can't think of one band that they sound like...the lead singer is rather unique and whines and screams the lyrics yet in excellent melody.

I like the Microphones, I'm really a sucker for anything on the K record label.
Hmm, then you already know and love Mirah, Little Wings, and Jason Traeger right?
