Inuyasha...will it ever end?

NOT that I hate the show I actually love the story line, the art , and the action. I just want it to hurry up and be over with so that I can watch all the episodes all the way through!! Does anyone out there know exactly how many episodes there are of Inuyasha? Do you know when the series will end?
 
Currentlly in Japan there are 142 episodes which have been aired. Rumiko Takahashi's series are known to last rather long (Ranma 1/2). There's no defined number of episodes yet, but going by the manga, it's projected to end sometime in the early 200's. Of course, it can go longer, it can end sooner. No one knows for sure yet.

Inuyasha is an anime currently airing in Japan. Adultswim is currently showing the first 52 episodes on rotation. It's not geared towards kids, as the language and some content is more mature (violence, etc). It's mostly action/adventure, but of course there are some romantic themes.

Can you tell I watch it?
It's a good series, I enjoy it!
 
were supposed to get new episode in april on [adult swim], but as for ending. it may not. it may be like lupin or dbz or sailor moon and go on and on. as long as the story stays fresh, i dont care.
 
Personnaly, im trying to not keep watch on One Peice...Dear lord... the 5th movie just came out i think..but i love it so...
 
I love inuyasha. I think that is a really great series. I was planning to buy of the series, they have a special on discountanimedvd.com. They have some pretty good bundle packages.
 
One Piece is going to rock, my only fear is the voice for Monkey in the dub if a crappy company gets the rights. I've seen 140 episodes of Inuyasha, and they still need at least 1 fragment of the jewel shard, I won't spoil anything else. The way they're going, it may never end.
 
The show will end when kagome's skirt finally flies up and reveals her underwear.

The show will have to end after a shocker like that. :wink:

Personally, I bought the 2 HK collections on animeniacs.com. Fx releases them as more are dubbed and aired here. So far the collections combined have 1-36. I'll never be able to afford the 50+ R1 dvds that will eventually come to be. Not to mention lack of shelf space! So I'll just pick those up as they come out...

If any of you can't wait for adultswim to air more, check out anime-kraze.net for fansubs. You can get from #80 up to the most current episode in Japan. Now I just gotta find time to watch them. :)
 
Are you sure only 142 episodes have been released? 'Cause I'm pretty positive my cousin said that he was on episode 156 at Christmas, he says he has connections on mIRC (obviously some jap). But, then again, he could be lieing, but he's like I think 22 so I don't see why he'd lie :whistle2:k .
 
Ok the last episode aired in Japan to be exact was #146 on March 15, 2004.

Around Christmastime they were in the 130's, so there's no way he could have seen what he said. Anime-kraze.net has up to #142 fansubbed, of which I have. They are always just a few episodes behind, as they do all their own subbing.

I'm 21, and I wouldn't lie either. :wink: Trust me I'm confident in this area.

And yes, there are three movies released in Japan (the third just recently: within the last few months). None of them have been dubbed yet. You can only buy the subtitled versions. I've seen the first two, they are good. The third one is supposed to be the best so far. The dubbed versions of the first two are rumored to be released sometime later this year.

I just hope that when it does wrap up there is actually an ending. I hate it when a series just stops without any real conclusion, especially when they can do so much more with it (Berserk I'm looking in your direction).
 
Rumiko Takahashi's works are almost always open ended.

That being said i hope it ends and gets licensed soon. 200 episodes is alot of anime to watch, especially for anime thats not very funny like inuyasha.
 
I think it's only natual that Inuyasha would be more popular amongst females. But I didn't know that about Rurouni Kenshin.
 
Both Inu Yasha and Rouruni Kenshin (samurai X too) are loved by the ladies. 99% of our manga sales and our anime rentals for those 2 series are from the ladies. Hell, my girlfriends one of them, at least for inuyasha. Personnaly, i like kenishen.

And yeah, i cant imagine what kind of voice Monkey would end up having, but the japanese one already annoys me, so it could work out for the better :)
 
I think that it is the case that women do like some animes more than me.n. I do like a lot of anime. I especially like the action ones. I even watch them more the my man.
 
Thats a good thing, not enough women like the action shows....In fact, I think there should be more women characters in the action anime shows, that would help bring in a higher female audience. Until recently, you just see the female characters that are overly sexualized in a majority of the action shows.
 
Besides, A hanyou (half-demon for all you DUB watchers *shudder*) with cute fuzzy ears and claws that could rip through anything with a physique to match his GIANT Tessaiga is hot >:D

IMO, his Japanse voice actor could run circles around ours. His growls, man. Like he MEANS it. Not to mention screaming Kagome's name when she's in great peril.

I am currently downloading the subbed version of episode 144. I enjoyed the no-nonsense episode that had to do with Mushin. Kagome the karaoke-ing drunk! Sango hitting on Inu-yasha! Can't get any better than that.
 
I think most people on here have probably only watched the adult swim episodes, so they may not know what your talking about :wink: .

I agree that the Japanese track is better on many levels. I can appreciate both tracks, however, and this goes for most animes. I like to be exposed to both. I don't support the "despising of the dubs". Again, I enjoy both.

I don't mind dubs so much, but when the show takes the focus of the original work and completely redefines it, then it bothers me.

I really enjoy reading the Yu Gi Oh manga, but the US version completely destroys everything that happens in an entire year of the manga by condensing it into one show.. a poorly done show at that. In the show, it's like they completely neglected the idea of the "penalty game"
Yami Yugi plays them in some sort of game, and if they are found laking, he punishes them.. examples of this were making people become lost in thier own minds, set people on fire, or distort people's faces.. the penalty is usually based on a character fault (such as greed, vanity, etc).

It adds so much more to the story, yet the rip it almost completely out of the US version... probably because it takes focus away from the cardgame that the show has become nothing but a commericail for.
 
i tend to enjoy dubs more, as long as its done right. reading subtitles distracts me, if i can hear i in a language i can understand, im going to. also, i think i like richard cox as inuyasha better than the japanese voice. to me, the japanese is too high pitched. just my opinion

I don't know. There's something to be said for subtitles.
El Mariachi just isnt the same if it isn't in Spanish.
(Well, it just isn't the same if you make Antonia Bandaras "The Man in Black" or "El Mariachi" either)
 
oh i admit, some things are better subbed (can you even watch mariachi dubbed? my dvd only has spanish) and there are things best dubbed, like speed racer (best. show. ever) and godzilla.

like i personally refuse, under any conditions to watch crouching tiger, hidden dragon dubbed. ditto krosawa flicks.

I was reading some of it, and man is Yami ruthless. I remember the teacher one who went on her looks but was really ugly in the inside and therefore he let that show to punish her. It wasn't really supposed to be just cards either, as you probably read.
 
I'm not the bigeest fan of subs (though I do perfer to watch most live-action with sub rather than dub), I especially don't like them in most anime. I'll admit the voice acting is sometimes better in japanese, but often times English dubs have a great voice cast and acting sometimes even better than the japanese originals.

As for the Yu-Gi-Oh thing, I don't like it when the original material is switched around and tainted that much either as it often detracts from the story. But it is a show that is generally directed more towards kids (almost entirely in the states) so I can see why they would make the Yami personality less ruthless. Don't forget that the creators often sell their work and don't always keep tabs on what the new owner does with it. In the end, I guess it can sometimes be better if the magna and tv series are viewed as different entities since they bascially have different creators (at least for some cases).

Exactly. I loved that "poetic justice" element that Yami has in all of his penalty games. The fact that they just completely remove that to try to sanitize the show for a younger fanbase kind of bugs me. At least I can be a cheapass and subscribe to the American version of Shonen Jump and just read that along with One Piece and Naruto.

I'd also thrown in Big O, Gundam Wing, and Princess Mononoke as some other high profile examples off the top of my head.
 
Oh, no. I don't hate Dubbing in general, just for Inuyasha. They could have done so much better. I agree that all those other animes, Big O, Bebop, and Wing, and anything Miyazaki-san. I especially like one anime, Trigun, solely in english. I tried watching it in Japanese, but Vash doesn't have as much lighthearted spunk as the English VA. :3

Oh yeah how did I forget Trigun....I could be wrong but the guy who voices Vash also did Kaneda in Akira and Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid. And the lady who voices Milly has been in a ton of other voice casts herself.
 
Oh yeah, Milly. She's done alot, but the other one that comes right to mind is a character whose voice is totally different than Milly's lighthearted ditzyness, R. Dorothy Wayneright of Big O fame. I still need to watch those new episodes. Not to mention Roger Smith's VA also does Spike Speigel. Steve Blum is everywhere.
I saw a new ep of Big O out of order, and think that they're a bit different feel than the originals...and they changed his butler's VA! For shame!

And for something very off topic, my favorite voice actor is Scott Mcneil, and running close seconds are Keith David and Jim Cummings.
 
I think I've actually heard of Scott McNeil, but not the other 2. McNeil does the voice of Piccolo right, or used to at any rate? I could be wrong on this one, but I thinks he voices Duo (who is my fave as we share the same last name) on Gundam Wing too I believe.
 
You both are right. :D He did the old voice for Picollo, Wolverine on X-men Evolution, Duo Maxwell on Gundam Wing, and including Kouga on Inuyasha, Jetfire on Transformers Armada/Energon, and 4 people on Beast Wars! Rattrap, Waspinator, Dinobot and Silverbolt. I would have never known they were all the same voice until I looked it up. I could ramble on about all the voices he does, but wouldn't you rather just look here? Its not up to date.

Wow good ol' Beast Wars.....I actually enjoyed that series for a bit. You know what American animated show had a great cast too....Batman the Animated Series. Mark Hamill = Best Joker ever

No, I'll tell you who are jacks of all trades. Not only Jim, try Frank Welker and Paul Robsen. Frank has done every other non-human character (Including Bronx in the Gargoyles) and Paul does every other non-human thing that has a squeaky voice :3

I usually enjoy whatever version that I hear first. After watching Escaflowne subbed, it's just not the same after the translation (apparently FOX felt some heat or enough something to pull it off the air).

Or if you ever heard the dubbed version of the male Ranma. After season 5 or 6, they changed the character, and his voice sounded terrible. But just for the sake of watching the rest of the episodes I had to bear it.

I guess it's like history. You hear one version of an event, rationalize that it could happen, and accept it. Then you hear another plausible version. You can adjust your views to accept the second or just reject it.
 
One thing I've noticed about Inuyasha is that the opening and closing themes for almost every season sounds amazing. I imported the soundtrack with most of them on it, easily one of my favorite cds. The most recent closing "come" by Namie Amuro is amazing, so now I gotta wait for the next one.

Oh, and the three drunk Kagomes singing karaoke, classic. One of my other favorite single episodes was Shippo vs. the Thunder Bros sibling.

I like both sub and dub, but I like "Osuwari" better than "sit"
