I've really been enjoying Carcassonne on my iPhone and want to hook up with more CAGs for online multiplayer. Carcassonne runs on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (currently scaled up on the iPad - a free update with full iPad resolution support is coming later this year, at which point the price of the app will also go up to $9.99 - currently it's $4.99), and at least according to Thrak, your Friends games are synced between devices. I've created this thread to help CAGs find fellow CAGs to play the game with. Without further ado, here is the current list of player's email addresses (which you need in order to invite them to a game):
List of Carcassonne CAGs (currently 3 users):
If you wish to play a game with anyone listed, send them an invite from within Carcassonne, using the noted email address. Also, if you are listed, expect to receive invites from fellow CAGs!
Important: In a Friends game you should expect that players will appear and go away frequently, and games could take a long time to complete as a result. People may make a move and then immediately leave, then return when they are notified that it's their turn, or perhaps not for hours. You can tell if a player is present by looking at the scoring bar at the bottom - if the player is offline they will appear grayed/dimmed. Don't sit around waiting for a player that isn't there to take a turn! You can go off and play another game of Carcassonne, online or off, or play a different game completely or do whatever. When it's your turn you will receive an iOS notification telling you so. This may seem odd at first, but soon you'll find that this is a great way to play this type of game, especially if you keep multiple games going at once.
-------
The one big catch to Friends games in Carcassonne is that in order to receive an invite you must give the player starting the game your email address. The player sending out the invites is also revealing their email address when they send the invite via email. I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that don't want to give out their email address, but there is a solution. You can create a new email address at http://gmail.com, http://mail.yahoo.com or wherever, just for this purpose. I suggest using the form:
Replace "cagusername" with your CAG username. This way we'll know who's who. I'm going to maintain a list in this OP of people interested in playing Carcassonne with other CAGs. Post your email address in this thread to be added. You can post it munged if you want, such as CAGdotCAGUSERNAMEatGMAILdotCOM, or whatever. Or if you make a special address for this purpose as suggested above you may not care, and can just post it straight up. However you post it, that's how I'll list it, and for good measure I've wrapped it in a spoilers tag. You'll find the list above. I placed it there for quick access.
-------
Don't have Carcassonne? Check out the game and reviews on iTunes or via appshopper. Also, if you have an Xbox 360 you can check out the demo of the Xbox Live Arcade version (not by the same developer and it has fancier graphics and such, but it is the same game so you'll be able to figure out if it's for you or not). Then download it and join in! Carcassonne is a game that's a little hard to explain, but play a game or two and you'll get it. It's especially helpful to play online games, as then you'll see some of the strategies people use.

I hope we get plenty of CAGs interested in playing. The more the better! Lastly, I hope this is the first in a series of iOS gaming threads and that eventually we get our own forum....

There are two kinds of online games in Carcassone: "Quick Play" and "Play With Friends".
To invite someone to a Friends game, in the main menu, select:
You can create a game with up to 4 opponents (5 total players). I would suggest, though, that your first games be one-on-one, as that way you'll find out who's more active, and then know who to add to a more then 2 player game in the future. Once you've added a friend, you can add them again to future games by just selecting them from a list - no need to remember email addresses at that point.
While you are in a game, to go back to your list of Friends games (or to go back and play single player or a quick play game):
To get back to your list of Friends games when you are somewhere else in the game:
To send a chat message while in a game (Quick Play or Friends Game):
When you press return you are sent out of the chat interface and you'll see (and your opponents will see) your message on screen near the bottom left for a period of time, though it tends to be hard to read. You can see these messages more clearly (and past messages in the thread) by clicking the Balloon Speech icon again. Players in the game who are offline will receive a notification with the message in it, so please don't spam this feature!
While in a game, to see the list of remaining tiles:
You'll see a picture of each tile and either a number indicating the number of that tile remaining, or the tile will appear grayed out if there are none left of that tile. Needless to say, this is a very useful display!
- Quick Play games are 2 player games in which you are matched up with a random player. Opponents do not need to be "Friends", and in any case you can't choose who you play with. Quick Play games must be played live - if you drop out you lose. Turns have a time limit (I think 75 seconds, but I'll update once I check this.) There is a chat feature too - it's a bit klunky, but it works.
. - Play With Friends games can only be played with, you guessed it, friends. Friends games can have up to 5 players. The players don't need to be online at the same time. When it's your turn you receive an iOS notification (a rather nifty one, I must say). Like the game Words With Friends, you can have multiple Friends games going at once, and you can go away from and come back to them at will. You also receive notifications for chat messages.

Normal Game -> Internet -> Play With Friends -> Add new friend via email...
