Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.

Is there any way to move apps to the iPod touch other than using the Sync screen under the Device menu?

For example, items in your music or video library can be dragged onto the iPod from the library menu to the device menu; however it wont allow me to drag apps. I am getting really tired of having to uncheck a bunch of items whenever I pick up new things that I dont want to play right then.

Its not so bad on mine since I sync all the time, but for example, if my wife wants to add one single game to hers, I then have to go and uncheck the last 50 or so that I picked up just to sync the one thing. Then I have to remember what she already had on there since they don't show on the list in the order they were picked up or anything which makes it even harder. Ridiculous.

I'm looking for a good Word Search game and I was just wondering if anyone can recommend one over all the others (there are quite a few).

I totally hate this too. I feel your pain :(
Got The Creeps. :)
As did I. I'm loving it so far. It's an extremely addicting game.
Got The Creeps. :)
Yeah, and for as much content you got, and not to mention the work that went into the hand drawn graphics, the extremely addicting gameplay and hours and hours of replay value. I recommend tossing some dollars the devs way and buy the add on packs. They are quite the challenge. And no I am not the dev. I wish I was. :D I'm just a big fan of The Creeps! and think its one of the most underrated games on the app store.

At first i couldn't believe The Creeps! was free but then I remembered there's IAPs for it so now that incredible game I paid 99c for becomes a demo that'll, hopefully, lead to future purchases. I still havent bought any of the IAPs, and I probably won't, the thing I found really odd is that I fired up iTunes to gift this to someone's email address that doesn't have an iPxx(xx) and it won't let you. So even though it's normally a paid app and it's on sale for free, you still can't gift it.

Here's the Friday Freebies round up:

As has been previously noted, Free App a Day has the fantastic The Creeps! (http://www.freeappaday.com/app.php?day=26&month=03) as its featured game.
OpenFeint is showcasing Magnetic Sports Hockey (http://itunes.apple.com/app/magnetic-sports-hockey/id346787271?mt=8).
Great App a Day is still showing TouchBang (http://www.greatappaday.com/details/touch-bang/).
Free App Calendar is offering the match-3 title Charmed (http://www.freeappcalendar.com/details.php?id=38).
Finally, there's Falling Match (http://appshopper.com/games/falling-match) if you just can't live without another falling, match-3 eliminator.

Here's a couple of notable price reductions in case you feel like spending some change:

Swapper Time Attack is an interesting-looking brain stretcher (http://itunes.apple.com/app/swapper-time-attack/id362147606?mt=8). Reduced from $2.99 to .99.
Secret of Lost Pyramid (http://itunes.apple.com/app/secret-of-lost-pyramid/id351031603?mt=8) is a pretty good tile elimination puzzler. Down from $1.99 to .99.
If you're tired of all the puzzle games, and just want to shoot stuff, Bottle Hunt (http://itunes.apple.com/app/bottle-hunt/id356057307?mt=8) is on sale for .99.

And one more freebie, 'cause it's Friday and you deserve it:
Adventure Zones (http://itunes.apple.com/app/adventure-zones/id335734747?mt=8).
I've been waiting patiently for Space Invaders: Infinity Gene to go on sale for $2 or less...hell, I might bite even at $3.
I'm with you, $3 is my breaking point and I want it. I have a few games that I refuse to purchase until they hit that "just right" window. Resident Evil 4 and Canabalt also come to mind (so pissed I missed that original $1 on Canabalt).
FYI, all Adult Swim games are on sale this weekend for $0.99.
Are any of these games really worth getting, they all seem to be basic flash stuff with no real depth.
The Creeps is way better than Plants vs Zombies. Support the developer for being awesome enough to put the game for free and but the DLC packs.
Not sure if I'd go that far, but it is good and a worthy addition to my collection (starting to get too many TD games, when you right down to it, they're basically the same...except Plants Vs. Zombies which mixes the formula up enough to make it continue to be interesting).

Cheap points cards at costco $60 for $48 if your so inclined:

First off Hallowfreak, I have respect for you because you have posted some quality posts, but I have to disagree with your statement calling The Creeps! a demo? If you purchased the app way back when it first came out. You would appreciate what all has been added for absolutely no cost. When I bought it the app didn't even have sound. There were only a hand full of boards and it was still worth the purchase price. I have received more hours of enjoyment out of The creeps app than most DS games, or Wii games that cost $30 - $50.

You can't expect the developers to continue to update for nothing. Great for us, but not so much for them. Especially when there are so many apps on the app store that the good apps get lost in the mix. Just because the developer created some more awesomness and decided to offer them for purchase, doesn't make this a demo.

What would you do if you were in the developers shoes? Just keep putting hours and hours of hard work into an app for fun? Maybe he should have just created The Creeps 2! instead of adding in app purchases. Would this have been better?

I for one, support the dev's of games that I really enjoy and get hours and hours of play out of. I support them because I know how much hard work went into it. I want the devs to keep adding updates and content even if I have to pay a whole $0.99 for more fun. When you think about it, less than a buck, next time you go out to dinner, order water instead of paying $2.25 for a soft drink. $2.25 for a drink that you get to enjoy for 30 minutes while your eating dinner, that will give you enough to purchase two $0.99 games that will give you countless hours of enjoyment.

Sorry to vent, but I have tried to program and create an app, and failed miserably. So I have a new respect for dev's.

The Creeps came out in 2008, here it is 2010 and I am still enjoying it. I can't say that about any other game on the app store.

The Creeps is a great game. However, the game did destroy all my progress. This was shortly after updating the firmware (F you apple for charging for firmware) so it might have been caused by that.

The problem that I have with PvZ is that is almost too ridiculously easy. I've played about 30 stages and they are all the same; just plant a few sunflowers, plant some plants (lol) and rinse and repeat. On the other hand, Creeps! was extremely challenging. Getting the medals for the hardest levels is really satisfying.

PvZ needs a speed mode combined with restricted tower cards, forcing you to make do with what you have.

PvZ isn't easy on endless mode, the gargantuans combined with snow mobiles are deadly.
I don't have a membership on Costco. What is the best place I can get the gift card for the cheapest price?
Toys r us has $30.00 for $25.00 right now I think that is the best deal. Buy $60 for $50. $120.00 for $100.00 etc...
Hi How Are You? just got an update. Super fun platformer and I really enjoyed the music as well. Price increase today thought due to the update, but something for the Bargain Bin watch for .99 for sure.
This just reminded me that I saw a mural of the frog and the phrase "hi, how are you?" on the side of a building a couple weeks ago while walking around campus at UT. I've looked it up, and it's a big deal for Austin, TX from what I've read.

That's interesting. I never heard of the artist before I played the game. Apparently he's really made a ton of music.

That's not a frog. It's one of Daniel Johnston's alien doodles. Probably his most famous piece, actually. I went to UT at the same time Daniel was just becoming famous (yes, I'm old). He used to play a lot of different places on and near the UT campus. Unfortunately, he also suffered from a lot of mental health issues. He eventually left Austin and became a pretty big deal elsewhere, too (he was the subject of a movie called "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" for one thing). Anyway, I wish I would have hung on to some of the junk he used to give away at his shows (artwork, tapes, etc.). I hear they fetch quite a bit of money these days.

SG Tower Defense is finally free.

Looks very basic, which I believe is intended. Claims to have multiplayer as well. I've been waiting for this one to drop to free for over a year before finally trying it out. Guess now is the time. ^ ^

Happy Saturday, people! Here are a few freebies to start your day:

Free App a Day is featuring Battlezone (http://www.freeappaday.com/app.php?day=27&month=03). Looks like a possible TD-variant.
OpenFeint has the aforementioned puzzler Piyo Blocks (http://itunes.apple.com/app/piyo-blocks/id331306853?mt=8).
Great App a Day has something called Giftopia (http://www.greatappaday.com/details/giftopia/).
Free App Calendar is also promoting Piyo Blocks. Hmmm, may want to check that one out.

That's it for now. Enjoy your weekend!

I love that game, too.
