This is a continuation of this previous thread. Since it reached 5,000+ posts making a new thread is easier to read through.

Post any deals you find, recommendations, requests for deals, etc. Please keep things as civil as possible. There's no such thing as a bad deal post and reviews are opinions. :)

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

  1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
  2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
  3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
  4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
  5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
  6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
  7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
  8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
  9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
iFixit Touch Repair Guide ; iFixit iPhone Repair Guide ; TechRestore
  10. Using a screen protector can extend the life of your device. Most stores carry these, but they can be hard to install. The best I have personally used are made by a company called Power Support. They have both clear and anti-glare protectors. They are easier to install because the protector is a firm yet thin piece of plastic. Two come in a pack, average price I've seen is $20. They have an Ebay Store that might save you a few bucks.

The DLC is actually on sale for 99 cents - it seems like it's just until the new update that fixes whatever they broke. They posted in the iTunes store and said they know it's broken, and should have an update soon.

Was just coming back to this thread to post this, so thanks. At this point, I don't care if it crashes, as long as I can get my hands on it at this price before the update.

Downloading it now.

Oh, and since I likely bumped this thread to a new page for most people: Peggle Nights DLC is currently 99¢.

Not a bad price, if i could only get Peggle to open long enough to buy the DLC. Unless there is a way to get the DLC without running the App.

Awesome, thanks for the update...glad I held off for a few hours. Earlier this morning it was still listed as 2.99 in game, but it had indeed changed to 0.99 both on the app store and the in game app.

Bought peggle to see what all the hub bub was all about, and got to say it's really awesome! It's worth every penny, everybody should get it while it's on sale.
I've been hearing that it's says peggle nights is .99 but trys to charge $2.99. What is the real price?
Good question, has anyone bought this yet and seen the final charged price? .99 is a sure buy, but I can hold off for $2.99 for a while.

I went ahead and bought Peggle nights and then went to my purchase history and it said .99. So at least as of 2:00pm today, .99 cents is the price.

Peggle Nights appears as 99c, and charges 99c for me as well.

On a side note, this is the third version of Peggle I've bought. God damn you Popcap.

I can't get my updates to install. For that matter, I can't get any downloads at all on my 64GB iTouch today. My wi-fi connection seems fine; I can check my mail and hit the Internet. Anything from the AppStore is just sitting there with a "waiting" status after I hit "install," however. I have almost 10GB of free space so it's not a memory problem. I've literally never seen this happen before. Anyone have any suggestions for a fix? I'd like to get the Peggle DLC while it's on sale but Peggle won't even launch at the moment. My apps are conspiring against me once again. . .
I can't get my updates to install.
I know this is probably a dumb question, but have you tried a hard reset? Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together until the screen goes blank and then returns with the Apple logo. I've had the install problem happen a couple of times in the past, and that's always cleared it up for me.
Hard reset?

Then maybe delete Peggie and do a clean install, then upgrade?
Thanks for all the quick responses. I actually deleted my original post after I realized I hadn't done a hard reset of my device, yet. I didn't want to take up a bunch of space with my whining until I had exhausted all my options. Googling the subject turned up a couple of other hints as well. Thanks again for the suggestions, guys!

EDIT: Yep, hard reset is your friend for solving wonky behavior! Everything's downloaded/updated. Now on to that DLC. . .

First PopCap surprises us by finally bringing the Peggle Nights expansion to the iPhone, then they put it on sale for $.99. Thanks PopCap, I now own Peggle + Nights for pc, ds, 360, and iPhone :)

My issue with Peggle turned out to be that I needed to reload my phones firmware. Damn thing had been acting weird for a while and this was just the last straw.

Clearly you have good taste in games.

Just bought Peggle Nights for $0.99 myself.. but one thing that's irritating is how fucking dumb people are, and the correlating number of 1 star reviews in iTunes. Seriously, people? You're rating the game 1 star because you thought you were going to get Nights for free?

T7RAXMHHL3XR

That should be a code for Battle Bears. My condolences if it doesn't work

And concerning SEED, the first one appears to be free so you could try that out.

The code worked just fine, CONMAN999. Thanks! :)

Someone earlier said Mirror's Edge was a short disappointment. I disagree respectfully. The ending was terrible, and the game itself was short, but apart from that it was a very well put together running game.

I asked this question a while back (in the old thread) and I don't think it was ever answered, but are in app purchases tied to your account? I downloaded the Pac Man CE level pack a while ago, but then I had an error that forced me to wipe my iPod and resynch everything. I lost any save data, which was a pain in and of itself, but would I be able to redownload that pack at no charge? I'm afraid to try it because I don't want to get charged 3 bucks again, and this will also determine whether I download the Peggle Nights pack or not.

Thanks for that question, I'll feel much better buying Nights now that I know I can re-download, should that ever be necessary.

I figure Nights is all included in the regular peggle, what you are purchasing is the unlock key, at least that is my guess. I didn't actually ever see a second download after buying Nights.
SEED 2: Vortex of War is on sale for 99 cents. An exclusive RPG. Any thoughts?
I don't know. Looks interesting. Seed 1: Rise of Darkness is free, though.
I hear Final Fantasy 1 is crashing all the time: is it true?
I don't know if there's a specific place where this is happening, but I booted it up for a bit to check and it didn't crash for me once.

Quick question. I am stuck at work with no wifi, is the only way to download peggle nights thru the app? I don't see an option in itunes.

if you don't have internet access, there's no way to download anything, even if you did have an option through the app

You should be able to download via in-app purchase over 3G. I have no wifi at work and was able to download it just fine.
