iPod Shuffle trouble

I have a 1 gigabyte iPod shuffle. It is a few months old. I plugged it into my computer one day, and it didn't function right. I went into 'My Computer' and it was there as the G drive. I double clicked on it, and then it says "G Drive is corrupted or inaccessible" or something along those lines. I keep trying, but to no avail. I went to Apple's support site and they tell you to restore it. Well I cannot restore it because it doesn't allow me to transfer files or anything of the sort. It recharges, but nothing more.

Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with it? I would like to sell it because I need the money. I don't want to send it to Apple unless it is neccisary, which it may be. Any quick fixes?

Hopefully this is the right forum area. Not sure.

Check your manual. You might be able to reset it (how you do that on a shuffle I'm not sure). You may also need to restore it. Go to Apple's website, download the latest firmware, and run the restore utility. You'll lose all the music on the shuffle but that should at least reset it to factory defaults.

I tried to do the restore, but when I do the thing freezes. I restarted it, not much happened.

Could you try to see if it works on another PC? If it behaves the same way, it's likely the Shuffle that's the problem. If it works OK on another PC, then try a different USB port on your computer.

I'd bet it's the Shuffle having a USB problem, and it needs to be replaced under warranty. If it's a few months old, it should be under warranty.

It doesn't work on any pc. I will check my user manual tonight and check to see if it is under warranty. I don't think I've had it guitae 6 months yet, so i might be ok.
