iPod touch, any good deals ?

BABETOOTH

CAGiversary!
My wife suggested getting an iPod touch for my son's 13th bday. He's a real good kid, very helpful around the house, doing great in school, takes care of his younger sister. I think he deserves it even though we are running on one modest income. I don't know a lot about the touch and was hoping if anyone can be kind enough to school on pricing or recommendations you may have. If anyone knows of any good deals or any useful info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! So far I've seen 3 different ones and they run between $230 to $400...
When is your son's birthday?

Apple will likely announce a NEWER iPod Touch version nect month sometime.
End of August.

I was also going to suggest waiting for the new one to be released, not so that you could get him the latest and greatest, but because the current generation would almost definitely see a price cut at that time.

But since you can't wait that long, I also suggest going with an 8 or 16 GB refurbished iPod touch (current generation). Apple's refurbished products are visibly new in every way, except that they don't come in a retail box. They do, however, tend to come with added accessories for free - all at a lower than retail price. They also come with the same standard 1 year warranty that new units come with.

I think he'll understand about the new model and price drop. Honestly waiting seems like the better option although the refurbs look good. Originally he had asked for Wii Sports Resorts but my wife suggested something "other" than a videogame(he knows ipods are pricey). Perhaps he'll wait till the holidays.

Guys thank you all so much for all your help ! You guys make up a great community here! Very helpful ! Thanks again !!!
