I want to get it because of the strategy involved but I heard there are a few glitches. I've played AWDS(and I loved it and 1 and 2 for GBA) but I traded it in. Any opinions on AoE for DS?

i used to always play aoe for PC a long time ago and aoe2: the conquerors and stuff i didnt get it for ds cuz i felt i might be dissapointed because of course its not going to be anything like the pc version and i used to play it all the time, but then again i havent heard from anyone saying its bad so i'm just as curious, anyone?

I did a LOT of research on the glitches on Majesco's website before getting the game for myself and I can give you two tips that will help you avoid the biggest glitches that can basically brick the game card:

1. Don't use the "save and quit" option. If you want to save and quit, use the "save" option, and then manually turn the DS off at the switch.
2. When you create your profile make sure your name has four or more letters. Three or less can crash your game. (Example: "Al" could crash it. "Alex" will not.)

I've been playing it for hours now, and haven't had any problems, although I hear there are a few smaller glitches here and there. I love the game, and I recommend it, although not all gamers will appreciate the extremely long campaigns. These missions can take as long as three hours to complete. Fortunately, don't have to commit to a three-hour play session because you can save at any time, so you can jump in and out whenever you want.

Just remember: don't "save and quit", and don't use a name that's less than four letters.

I had a 3 letter name and Saved and Quit on accident. This is very easy to do as it is next to the save function and there's no confirmation question. My game no longer works and Majesco won't do anything about it. They also have a list of about 15 game testers on the back of the manual, all of which probably did nothing to earn their paychecks. Needless to say, I am bitter but I probably should've done my research. Too bad, it was a fun game while it lasted(though units are hard to pick out when crowded).

Hopefully nothing like this happens for you.

that's just insane, that's a huge defect. you're basicaly throwing away 30-35 bucks because of a defect the creators do not acknowledge? is this on every game card?

Besides the glitches this game is amazing for strategy fans. It is pretty similar (read almost identical) to the play mechanics of Advance Wars. I happen to like this a little better because I prefer a medieval setting to a modern one. A must have for a strat fan.

personally, if you have a bit of patience, I would wait for Panzer Tactics DS

i won't go into huge detail, but the game is like a realistic version of AW played on hexes instead of squares. The game has 150 units, including tanks, ships, aircraft, and infantry. the game will be online. there are plenty of good screenshots and some info on gamespot.com

It's a shame, I would have bought this game in a second (and almost did), but I can't see supporting such atrocious behavior from a developer.

Majesco doesn't deserve my money for releasing such a fatal bug, and they're not even offering to exchange people's copies for a new version that's bug-free??

C'mon, I'm drawing the line!
