i got the double pack off gamefly and beat the one game in like 8 hours (the A game . couldnt stand the H game) yes im too lazy to look up the real names

well i beat that GBA game in like 8 hours (maybe 9) im already on hour 6 on the DS game, and i just printed out a walkthough and it seems i still got around 15 pages to go...i thought people said this game was shorter then the double pack games cause how im going its going to be close to 20-25 hours to beat it

also money seems a hell of a lot harder to get on the DS game... hell on the GBA game the zombies at the first room was giving me 500 to 1000 everytime you killed them as soon as you got the money ring... (anyone know if there is a money ring in this game)

Sadly i doubt i will beat this game Since it has to go back Next Thursday (cancelling my gamefly account for a few month to play the backlog of games i got now)

Thanks

i thought the "A" game was harder than dawn of sorrow. It's shorter and seems to lack meaning behind boss battles and money was alot harder to get. In DS I fought succubus's till dropped some black cloack that worth like 8,000 each. I had no problem with money and beat the game fairly fast.

money ring=gold ring

My problem is I can't figure out which way I should be going. I need a linear path or I turn into a big dumbass.

That's why the Map in the DS version is so helpful, because you can always track your movement without going into the start menu.

But to answer the OP's question, Aria of Sorrow in my opinion is harder than Dawn of Sorrow, because between the money ring and the soul ring you can beat DoS easily. The trick I used for money is to upgrade the Brass knuckles to Cestus (8000) plus the souls are easy to get. Once you get enough money buy the soul ring and you are set.

Regardless of which is harder, I am glad I played Harmony of Dissonance before Aria of Sorrow on the double pack, otherwise I probably would not have been able to stand Harmony as Aria's combat system and control are so much better.

None of the recent release Castlevania are hard because of the rpg aspect. The difficult is child play compare to the older version. There is too much things you can abuse in the newer Castlevania such as variety of weapon, items, potions and level up.

If you want a harder Castlevania game on your DS, pick up Circle of the Moon. They're all great games, but CotM is probably the hardest of the four.

My experience with the difficulty with Castlevania game has been an odd one. Everyone complained that CotM was too hard, and while I found it to be the hardest of the 5 "Metroidvanias", I got through it without THAT much trouble. Conversely, everyone says that Dawn of Sorrow was too easy, but I found it to be pretty damn difficult in places. Like most of the bosses in the second half of the game took me at least an hour before I could take 'em down. I felt the same way about Symphony of the Night, where it was mostly pretty easy, but had some sadistic parts late in the game.

Aria is a little easier than the three I just mentioned. It has some kind of hard regular enemies, but most of the bosses weren't too bad, and I've only played it on hard mode (I bought it used with Hard unlocked). I played a little over half of Harmony of Dissonance and it is really easy and unbalanced, thoguh navigation is a tedous nightmare and I gave up on it.

Circle of the Moon is definitely a bigger challenge than any of the other Metroidvanias. Not an incredibly hard game overall, but some of the extra modes you can unlock after finishing the game are downright brutal. I have still yet to complete the final (thief) mode.

thanks for the help

Did the Brass knucs + zombie upgrade and now the game is very very easy

Brass knucs 200 bucks add a zombie soul to them and sell for 3,000

10 zombie souls and 10 brass cost 2000 BUT net 30,000 = 27,000 gold each time

so i keep doing this between each boss battle what allows me to have 10 heal potions (9 100, 9, 200 and the same with MPs

now that cash isnt a problem the game is very easy once again :)

i would tried to play it without the cash thing but it goes back WEds and wanted to beat it

As with most big games, I got on the bandwagon late, and Dawn of Sorrow was my first Castlevania experience. I found it fairly simple, though I'm stuck on the final boss. I plan on picking up the double pack soon.

I used the same trick. You can make it easier on your self by buying axes and claymores as well. Since there is a little path outside of the Lost Village that contains Zombies, 2 Axe Armor, and 2 Warg so if go in an out of the room you can collect 9 souls of each pretty quickly. It also helps if you can get a few Armor knights along the way because latter on you can upgrade a Short sword + Armor knight -> Cutlass +Corpsweed->Long Sword (pretty nice profit return as well). Hope this helped.

Dawn of Sorrow is much more complex and longer than Aria of Sorrow. As to whether or not one is harder than the other, not sure. Death gave me fits in Aria, didn't really have much of a problem with any boss in Dawn (as far as I can recall).

As for the GBA/DS Castlevanias, I have only played CotM and DoS. I thought CotM was way harder than DoS, but I enjoyed DoS much more.

The hardest Castlevania I have played is the original Castlevania for NES. That was a monster to beat.

Well, I played the hell out of Aria, so I no longer have any clue how hard it actually was. The 3 person mode in DoS was hard thought.

i never beat part 1 without save states. i beat 2 when i was a kid. i never beat 3 either. i also beat syphony of the night, lament of innocent and dawn of sorrow.
Even on hard DoS is a cakewalk compared to the old style games. Especially after you get the chaos ring.
Yeah, I loved the old ones and played the shit out of them on the NES. That's probably why Dawn of Sorrow seemed so easy to me. I need to pick up the double pack one of these days, 'cause Castlevania is great.
