Is Conker Live and Reloaded a remake or a sequel?

There's been a little confusion around whether Live and Reloaded is a new adventure or not, and I was hoping for some clarity here. Obviousely the Xbox Live part is new, but is that it, besides a few touch-ups here and there? Oh, and before I forget, has Rare decided on a release date?

The single player mode is the same thing as the N64, but with revamped graphics. The multiplayer is different though, as you already know.
I believe one of the more recent EGM's said it would be in March. Can anyone find some proof?

Remake. AFAIK the release date is still up in the air.

The scene where Conker pulls out a gameboy color when he's standing around is still in there, but he pulls out a GBA instead of GBC.. a nice nod to Nintendo.

fair enough considering all or Rare's games on the GBA.

It's a much expanded remake, particularly on the multiplayer. They've hinted that there will be some added single player content and updated jokes but I don't expect that to be enough by itself to justify a purchase at dull price if you bought the N64 version.

I really liked the N64 game though and will definitely get this when the price is right.

There is definitely added single-player content . . . have you seen or played the demo? (OXM had it 2 months ago)

The level in the demo was a Saving Private Ryan take-off . . . I don't remember that in the original

I just beat BFD today, and I love it. Although the multiplayer was a little... meh. Hope it's much better for L&R, since that's its main focus...

It was one of the last levels.

I never finished it . . . I got Bad Fur for $10 at BB . . . but only a month before I got a PS2

I can't believe this game isn't out yet. Wasn't it announced around 5 years ago? Also, it's just a remake with enhanced graphics and multiplayer - does it really take that long?

Yes it was announced a full year before the Xbox was released and two years before Microsoft bought Rare.

maybe there's a surprise in store for us... or not... knowing how slow rare can be at times...

How could it have been announced five years ago when the N64 title was still unannounced then? The game came out in 2001, very late in the N64's life. That was one of the things that handicapped the game on top of the 'too British' aspect and Nintendo not knowing how to handle the PR.

If this was all Rare had going on I'd be more curious as to the long development cycle but it isn't and we don't know how many people are actually assigned to it full time. To say it has enhanced graphics is falling short of the mark. They've pretty much redone everything from scratch to take advantage of the differences in polygon counts, resolution, shaders, etc. AFAIK this project didn't get going until after the Microsoft buyout, so for the amount of work being done it isn't really all that great of a duration if it ships some month soon.

Yeah, I liked the demo....it could use some polish, but it was good. I never played the N64. I may rent it first, if the online aspect is good, I may have to get this.
Thanks to anyone that helped. What does take Rare so long? And has Kameo been canned or what?
Last I heard it was going to be pushed back for Xbox 2, but that's just rumors, I don't think there's any confirmation.

I put a $15 preorder on this game. Never played the N64 version, but have heard great things about it. I may end up cancelling the preorder, though and just wait for it to price drop if it takes too much longer and doesn't get stellar reviews.
