Is Gamefly a good service?

I'm thinking I might switch to Gamefly's 1 game at a time plan for $15 a month to save money and play more games at the same time. How is Gamefly? Is the service good and reliable. Do games usually come next day or two after ship?

Is this the wrong forum?

Anyways, I like their service. Also, the games can be bought for fairly cheap prices and arrive in pretty good condition. The round-trip for games was never longer than three business days. The game selection is pretty good. At least, that was the case about a year ago.

Depends on where you live. I live in Ohio and its usually 7+ days turn around (The day I mail it to the day I receive a new one). For instance, they shipped one game on Monday and another on Tuesday and I still haven't received either of them. So for me its not very good, I only get Gamefly when there is a deal for it. Its definitely no Netflix.

Wrong forum, you're not supposed to be asking questions here, just post deals.

Anyways, yes. It's actually a really good way to finish games that are easy/quick without having to buy or rent more than once. The shipping times were iffy for me, though. It just depends on how close your shipping center is, I think.

I hate to say it but I've had nothing but bad experiences through them. I have subscribed off and on for the past few years and I end up canceling after about two or three months every time. The latest time I signed up (and canceled) was a few months after they added a Pittsburgh distribution center. Pittsburgh is about 3 hours from me and I was lucky if I ever got a game in 5 days or less. But that's not even the biggest problem. The biggest problem for me was that nothing on me want list was ever available. Most times a game would go back, a ridiculous amount of days later they'd say they finally received it, and then nothing would happen. If I was lucky they'd send me the game at the very bottom of my 20+ game want list.

I wasn't a fan of Gamefly. I have been a member twice with them. I have found their turn around times to be somewhere around 5-7 days, which in my opinion was too long considering Netflix used to get me movies within 2-3 days. I have lived in three different cities with the same turn around time (Kansas City, Miami, and Charlotte). The one thing that has brought me back to them every once in a while has been their selection. They have practically every game. I will say I normally was able to get one of my top 2-3 selections (which were always new releases). Granted, I was on a one out at a time plan which has a better ratio of getting harder to get titles. All in all, the shipping times killed it for me so I cancelled Gamefly and Netflix and switched to Blockbuster in-store game/movie pass 2 out at a time. My blockbuster has a decent selection (most new releases) and always has copies of the games I want to play.

The best service I've ever gotten from Gamefly was mediocre. If you want anything new, you better have it at the top of your queue before it even comes out and even then, it's a crapshoot if you'll get one of their limited copies or not. Turn around for me has gone down over the years but even about a year ago it was still 3-4 days and I'm pretty sure they had a center in my state by then. Unfortunately for "unlimited rentals" they're still pretty much the best game in town, but if Blockbuster ever wised up and let you rent games through the mail AND locally like they do movies, I would totally be on that. For now though I just buy the game or wait for it to drop in price, and then buy it.

Is Microsoft a good software/hardware company?

I used to be a member, but canceled because of the long turnaround time. I had one at a time and would play a game for about a week, they send it back for a new one. it worked out that I only had a game about 2 weeks out of the month. When I calculated the cost per day, it was a bad deal. I started keeping a separate list with Delicious of all games I wanted, and then would only keep two or three in my queue which ensured I got new releases.

Its a good service, however, for future reference you are not supposed to ask questions in this section of the board.

I'm a new member with Gamefly still in my first month. So far, I've been satisfied. They shipped FIFA 10 and I got it within 2 days (and looking at the condition of the disc, I would say it's a brand new copy, because I can't find any scratches; I put it top of my list so it must have gotten shipped at around the time it was released). I haven't returned it yet so I can't comment on the turn-around time.

Oh, if you want to sign up for Gamefly, I reccomend doing it through www.youfree360games.com You complete Gamefly and another offer and you get a free game shipped to you :)

I'm sure there are many people with referral links too (so that they can get credit), so ask around.

This is the wrong forum but...

I really recommend Gamefly. I have about a two day turn around till it gets to me, and the same to when I send it back. I buy giftcard for a year once a year, saves me tons of money. I just apply it to my account.

Gamefly is great if you get the 2 out at a time plan. This makes shipping times a non-issue, for me at least. It's easily my favorite place to buy used games. Not only do they have some great prices, on some games at least, the games look mint.

I've bought a lot of used games from Gamefly. Every single game came with mint condition case, manual, artwork (no stickers all over everything), and most of the discs have been 100% scratch free. Even the couple of discs with scratches were faint scratches that didn't affect the games at all.

It is definitely harder to get the very latest titles, but if you're willing to set yourself back 3-4 months, there's rarely a problem.

Yeah, if you're wanting the very latest games, just released within the last 30-45 days, I'd not suggest Gamefly for that. It is definitely better for slightly older games and good but short games that you don't want to buy, such as Wolverine, Heavenly Sword, or Alone in the Dark (the PS3 version).

I'd suggest signing up with TheECA.com free for a year, then use their 30 day free trial with Gamefly, go with the 2 at a time plan. 2 at a time is better because that way you always have one game to work on while you wait on your last game to ship back. Just cancel the 30 day thing before the 30 days are up if you don't like it (set up an alert in your cellphone or something) and you're good.
