I have socom 2 and am sorta looking for a replacement of it, is ghost recon 2 what I need or is it actually nothing like socom 2?
I hated Ghost Recon 2 compared to SOCOM 2. Just hold out for SOCOM 3 this Fall.
Why buy Socom 3 in the Fall when you know that Xbox 360 is coming out then? Just buy Ghost Recon 2 and/or Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike and enjoy it on Xbox Live (which PS2 online can't even come close to), and save up some money for the new system. No reason to spend money on a second-rate game on a system with second-rate online capability.

Hope you saved some of that money for a gun because I think you may have just started a war..

Well it's true, Socom can only wish it was Ghost Recon. And there's no way anyone can say the PS2 Broadband is superior to Xbox Live. Plus, this is the Xbox Forum after all .

Im not buying summit strike unless reviews say its alot better, cause im waiting for ghost recon 2 to drop to 20 and get it for 13 used.

Last time Ghost Recon did this (Ghost Recon to Ghost Recon: Island Thunder) it ended up that the first was better, but it didn't have all of the cool new weapons the second one had. So pretty much the first one has better maps and story, the second has a lot more cool stuff (weapons, mostly).

So ur saying I should get ghost recon 2, and not summit strike?

Or you could wait for Ghost Recon 3 on Xbox360 and truly play an innovative game. Ghost Recon 3 looks amazing.

Ghost Recon 2 isn't bad but I just prefer rainbow six over it.

Well I was saying what happened last time, AND what they are announcing for Summit Strike (that GR2 doesn't already have) is: new guns, new environment, new gametypes, new missions.....a.k.a.

It all depends on what you wanna do: wait for price drop on GR2 and then play it when all the old GR fans go to Summit Strike OR pay a little more for Summit Strike, where most GR fans will be playing.

If you are a military fan, then Ghost Recon 2 is a great game. I do not have Live, but my friends and I play split-screen vs. and co-op, which are both intense additions to the single player campaign. Play it because it's fun enough to keep you through it, along with some real interesting parts that mix up the usual gameplay. You get Tom Clancy quality, and a good play through.

I own both SOCOM 2 and GR2 (XBOX) and they are both good for seperate reasons. Squad command is better in SOCOM, as is the feel of actually being in Special Ops. The XBOX version of GR2 is graphically superior to any SOCOM game, especially GR3. As for online I can't say because I don't play online, but I'd give the nod to XBOX Live. Sony might have a strong library, but they can't touch Microsoft's online superiority. What it comes down to is what you're looking for in a squad base game; ambience and more squad command go SOCOM, but if it is online and the graphical look pick up GR2.
