Is it even worth getting a 360 now?

The problem is that I have always been a Nintendo/Sony fanboy
It was Nintendo/Sega for 2 generations; Sony was the enemy (then). Next generation MS will be in like Flint & maybe EA will be the new "Axis".

Matt if you have a decent gaming PC I would recommend just sticking with the PS3 and Wii, many of Microsoft's exclusives also show up on the PC. If your PC isn't built for gaming and there are 360 console exclusives you want picking up the 360 would be a good choice.

There's nothing wrong with having each system for the exclusives. Buying a system brings on new expenses. If you can afford it then what's to stop you. Honestly, MS, nor Sony needs to release a new console. They should let Nintendo go first, see what they bring to the table then release their systems.
Exactly, Xbox Live just seems so much more involved
yeah, i had a modded xbox, so i could never go online and that's why i got a 360. XBL is amazing, you could easily go broke and fill up an elite with all the quality content. I'd opt for the elite, since my 20GB is down to it's last 1GB. The game selection is ridiculous as far as quantity and quality goes. Halo 3 is amazing in campaign and online, the theatre is icing on the cake, i love taking pics and sending video to my friends of amazing kills or funny things that happen during the matches.

Some of the best games you can get, IMO: Gears, Halo 3, Bioshock, Dirt, Mass Effect, and The Orange Box.

XBLA Titles are what I've been playing the most: Geometry Wars (1&2), Bionic Commando, N+, Pacman CE, Rez HD, Undertow, and Hexic HD are all great games.

With the best exclusives, Netflix, and a great online community for ~ $3 a month, 360 is def the console to have this generation. let the next generation take care of itself when it comes. go pick up a 360 sept. 7th and enjoy...

I have a 360 and Wii and I barely have time for those. My handhelds get most of the love due to time constraints. As far as the topic goes, yes it is worth getting.

The 360 is an excellent system, and as an owner of both a 360 and a PS3 I'd definitely recommend the 360 if you didn't own either (though it's close b/c of the Blu-Ray player). But I can't in good conscience urge you to buy a 360 when you've already got a PS3. They're just too similar -- let's face it, 90% of games come out on both and (with the exception of early ports) the PS3 versions aren't any worse.

So save the ~ $300 you'd spend on a largely duplicative system and get yourself some new games for your PS3 (or, if you must, for the Wii)!

I love my 360, but I think you can solve your problem by asking yourself one question: can you wait until the Xbox 3 comes out and the price of the 360 plummets?

Like most above me have said, the 360 and the PS3 are, for nearly all intents and purposes, interchangeable (the 360 has a slightly better online system, the PS3 has a Blu-Ray player; etc). If you can handle waiting a couple years to play the 360 exclusives, I'd say you'd be better served sticking with what you have now.

If your primary concern, though, is that Microsoft is going to yank the rug out from under the 360 anytime soon: I'd say go for it. You can get the arcade and a hard drive (after selling your memory stick) for $240-250, and have at Gears of War/GoW 2/Mass Effect/Halo 3 all you want.

PS: What the fuck is the reasoning behind them not making Suffering: Ties that Bind backwards compatible!?!?! I've wanted to play that game, but sold my PS2 and never got around to buying an original Xbox.

I love my 360 but hate that it breaks down every nine months. I love XBL but hate that there's no way to play a game with the public without being barraged by hate and ignorance. It's a real love/hate relationship. I say get a 360 for multiplayer and exclusives like Mass Effect and Gears.

It's an absolute no brainer, yes buy one!. I always buy every console every generation, and thus far the 360 has DOMINATED the other two IMO.

The quality of games availalbe are off the charts, and 360 Achievements are the most addicting thing I think I've ever been part of in my video game playing lifetime.

Hell, the 360 has pretty much turned my Wii into a dusty paperweight (check my sig) and my PS3 into a Bluray player.

I have all 3 systems, I like all 3 systems. I play my 360 the most by far. You should get one if you like to play online. Gears online IMO is worth the purchase itself. If you have the money get it you will like it a lot.

I also want to include that none of the others have said so far, that most likely, if you wait for the 720, all the games that you WANT to buy will pretty much be dead on Live. Meaning, no one will be playing it anymore. It's like HALO on original Xbox. There's seldom people playing it on live. Get the 360 now while you can.

Price drop and people playing on live. Like Raiden said, it's a no brainer. Even though the 360 is the console that fails in hardware the most, it's also the best one in gaming experience overall (live included). If you are indeed a gamer geek, then there is no need to hesitate as to why you should not get a 360. The only thing I would think that is holding you back from buying a 360 is Xbox Live fee, but it's actually very cheap. 12+1 Month XBL on Amazon = $43.99. 13 months/$43.99= $3.38 a month.

yes, my favorite system since SNES, i'm not usually a fanboy, but the 360 is on top IMO
the games, the online, the controller
all you need is a nice TV and you're set

*waits patiently for the September 7th price drop*

Second 360, here I come! :whistle2:#

I am pretty hyped that I'll finally be able to play Castle Crashers, then Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway for a month before it becomes Gears 2 Mania. ;)
