Is it even worth it to reserve halo 3?

A bunch of my friends say that there will be a gigantic stock of halo 3 regular edition at most stores so there's no point in reserving unless you want one of the other editions, is this true?
 
Depends on which store you plan on hitting. Best Buy and CC have a tendency to stock more than their reserve amount, by a large deal. While places like GameStop tend to stock only about half of their reserves, and then deal them out by who ordered a bunch of other things as well.

With over 1,000,000 pre-orders, I imagine most major B&M stores will have enough sense to order many more then their reserves.

Yes, more than enough. The game went gold this past week, 3 weeks to manufacture = millions of copies.

When Halo 2 came out, I rememeber all the way into the end of 2005 their still being sealed copies of the limited edition and the regular edition that still had the STREET DATE DO NOT OPEN TIL XX/XX on the top which obviously shows it was manufactured back at launch.
 
As much as my company doesn't want me to say this, you WILL NOT have a problem finding the regular edition on launch, the limited and the legendary editions should probably be pre-ordered, however.
 
The only reason you'd want to pre-order is if your local store is pulling a midnight opening for pre-purchasers only. Even then, though, they sometimes allow you to enter a few minutes before midnight to pre-buy it, and then get back in line.

Was different with GoW though, at least in Hollywood -- they got it in-store around 6pm and dispensed it to pre-purchasers first, and ended up running out before everyone else could get their hands on it. Of course, GoW was more of a hit than our local Gamestop anticipated, which is why they ran out. Super-doubt that'll happen with Halo 3.
 
Your going to buy the game anyway, why not reserve it and at least guarantee you a copy somewhere. No reason not too since it doesnt cost anything!!!
 
depends on when you want to play it? or if you want a limited edition. Sometimes it's cool to hang out with a crowd taking in the chaos. Kind of like why seeing some movies in theaters as opposed to watching at home alone.

I worked at an EB during Halo 2 and the midnight opening was cool we had people that set up a halo 1 tournament in the parking lot. Some were also tailgating playing football. It was a pain but it was also cool to see the gaming community come out and have fun.
 
there will be plenty of these to go around, you could buy enough to build a fort if you had the time, money and boredom. I think Taco Bell is going to be selling them along with their new Master Chief Burrito.
 
This game will be very rare and hard to find. if you do not pre-order now, you may end up paying 100s of dollars for it on ebay by Xmas time.
 
I reserved 5 of the Legendary version 5/6 months ago from 4 different online stores.

Gamestop - 2
Newegg - 1
Circuit City -1
Amazon - 1

I should be covered. ;)

Because this is CAG, and we hate being pushed into reserving by certain specialty game retailers who always charge full price at launch. Some of us would rather wait it out, possibly pay a little less on launch day, and give our money to corporations who offer better deals, incentives, and overall customer service. And not all of us are fanatical about having everything right at launch. I'll still be playing Blue Dragon and GOW online when this hits shelves.

You think thats bad? I just bought Halo 2 in January and I purchased the Limited Edition. The thing still had the street date sticker on it.
 
Haha, my school's bookstore has a sealed copy of the Halo 2 LE in-stock right now that's been there since launch, also with the street date sticker on it.

School bookstores do seem to be a hidden source of finding rare things. I got my Wii at one easily when everyone else couldn't keep stock more than a few minutes (or is it still like that).

Pre ordering is good for either a giftcard bonus or for the figurines (target?). But only do this if you were planing to pay full price anyway.
